Super Sentai inspired by popular media?

BY THE WAY, I AM NOT SAYING THESE ARE BAD THINGS. JUST INTERESTING TO NOTE!

Magiranger / Mystic Force
When Magiranger first came out, fans thought the magic theme was by inspired Harry Potter. Well, actually fans said that it was ripping off Harry Potter. I don't think so.

Go-Onger/RPM
I think that the Engines (talking vehicles with eyes) are inspired by Disney/Pixar's Cars. I like how it was not only cars but other vehicles and also animal-inspired.

What's next Vampires? Nah!

(Twilight the novel came out in October 2005, and Nai and Mea (Necrolai) was in 2005 Magiranger, way before the book was released and Kamen Rider Kiva premiered in February of 2008. And by the way, I know those commenters on this post were joking.)

  1. LOL yeah. Kiva is DEFINITELY inspired by Twilight. Sparkly stained glass vampires and love triangles!

  2. Ummm...Nai and Mare were Vampires in Magiranger - maybe it's in reverse: Magiranger inspired Twilight :) hahaha!

  3. I think more than Magiranger and Go-Onger were inspired by popular media. Several episodes of Dekaranger were similar to American movies such as Episodes 20 (Die Hard with A Vengence), 26 (Rocky Balboa), 38 (Speed), and 42 & 43 (Armaggedon). Also, the Boukenger series is similar to Indian Jones.

  4. Umm... Kiva came out before Twilight was popular, it was just a book.

  5. A producer for Super Sentai said in an interview, "My audience is boys age three to five." Not only is Pixar's Cars perennially popular with that demographic, both here and in Japan, so is Thomas the Tank Engine.

  6. Personally I think that Magiranger was partly inspired by Digimon Frontier ( which was very Sentai-esque ).Just that Magiranger's Pink Wind was a better fighter than Frontier's Pink Wind...and their Wolf was Darkness, not light...

    Also Rio in Gekiranger.

Kiva is definately more inspired by old Horror Movies. You got most of the Universal Monsters in that series.

  7. I wasn't joking... I seriously refer to Kiva as Japanese Twilight.

  8. Kiva came out in 2008 just so you know

  9. Yes, 2008, then Decade in 2009 folowed by W the same year. Still not Twilight enough to be called japanese Twilight. Lack of Emo Vampires and Werewolves, and addition of Gillman and Frankenstein!

Now I want to see Kiva Riderkick Edward!

  10. You've got it backwards! Twilight is WAY too shallow to be considered emo and has the most stupid main character ever! Kiva, on the other hand, is deep, emotional, edgy, and just plain awesome!

  11. Doesn't Emo mean whiny? Just what Edward is.

  12. Okay, I know I started it but can we please stop talking about Twilight?
