When the Shogun Megazord first arrived in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3, the Pink Ranger was loosing her powers and incapacitated, so there was no Pink Shogunzord and then the White Ranger had to share his White Shogunzord with the Pink Ranger.
But when kids got the Shogun Megazord, there were perplexed to find a Pink Shogunzord instead of a White Shogunzord. I remember my friend at the time, her brother wanted the toy badly but was disappointed to find out there was a pink zord instead of white. The picture above is the second packaging for the Megazord released in 1998 for the 'Power Playback' FOX Kids had for a while.
In the original series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, there was no Pink Ranger, the Alien Rangers were the actual Rangers. Actually, the Shogun Megazord a.k.a. The Invincible Shogun was the first robo they got and the Ninja Megazord a.k.a. Kakure Daishogun came afterward.
The original toy in Japan had a white robo but I think the reason Bandai America made it pink was because they wanted to service the Pink Ranger. But I do not know why it did not occur to them that Saban and company were going to use the original footage and it would be white anyway so it wouldn't make sense to make it pink.
A new toy version of Titanus came out called 'Return of Titanus' and they made American-only footage, that was not in Super Sentai. The Ninja Megazord and Shogun Megazord were incorporated with Titanus to make the Ninja Ultrazord and Shogun Ultrazord. But the interesting thing was that the producers used the ACTUAL Shogun Megazord toy and not a special prop to do it, so the White Shogunzord would temporarily transform into a Pink Shogunzord with no explaination. I find this hiliarious and one of the many quirks of the show.

It was a Whiteshogun Zord and in 2012
ReplyDeleteBecause a new Super sentai series soon.
Actually I heard the White became the Pink Shogun zord not just because of service to the Pink Ranger but because there was a feeling of fear in bandai that a White Shogun Zord could somewhat hurt sales of the Falconzord parents wouldnt buy two of Tommy's zords.
ReplyDeleteWhere you heard that from?
