Blue Samurai Ranger Promo - complete with Mega Ranger upgrade footage
Well just like I told the people who thought Shinkenger was not going to get adapted into Power Rangers (and they said 'That's why Disney dropped out')---these upgrade suits will be used on the show. To be like a 8 year-old, "Told You So!"
Did not expect that. They looked like something they would come up with for the toys, or like something out of a SIC Collection, well an US Version of SIC atleast...
Oh my f---ing word. Seriously, what the heck was wrong with the real robot/pilot sets? I don't recall many episodes where they had their masks off. What exactly was unusable with those sets? The minor Japanese words standing behind them? They have Japanese words on their masks!
Seriously, I never noticed the costume changes between the Japanese footage and the American footage when I was a kid - but I would damn well notice that kind of difference between the regular action and the zord/piloting scenes.
Damn - that is just so messed up. And even if they really thought a new set was necessary - do the costumes have to be sooooo out of set with the real ones.
They paid for a whole series worth of footage to use in America. Here's a way to cut costs -- JUST DUB THE DAMN SCENES! You know, like you use to!
You have the right to say "Told you so". I'll watch the show before I judge, but they seem cool. I doubt Samurai will beat Shinkenger, but I'll give it a chance.
Jon B, yeah I don't think people will think Samurai is better than Shinkenger when it is all said and done, but in fact, no Sentai fan has never said the PR series was better than the Sentai counterpart.
That's true, Lavender Ranger. Even in the case of Gingaman and PRLG. I am a die-hard fan of them both and I felt like PRLG owned Gingaman. IMO, Gingaman was boring and the characters weren't all that interesting. With that being said, even if Samurai turns out to be a very good season, even as good as Shinkenger (Even though Shinkenger was NOT one of my favorites nor the best) Sentai fans still won't recognize it because they're too busy stuck in their own imaginary world where Sentai rules everything. The Blue Ranger's promo was the best one to me because right now I am in LOVE with the Mega Ranger suits. I hope they aren't just used in the cockpit and are used as battle gear too, even though that wouldn't be a bad idea. Some fans need to realize that once again, this is POWER RANGERS. If Saban wants to change stuff, he can because it's his show. To counter what Kandou Erik said, who cares if Saban changed the cockpit? Once the material is in his hands, he's free to do what he wants. If he wants them to become Mega Rangers and pilot their zords in a new cockpit, it's his prerogative but pitching a fit isn't going to change anything. We know you're going to watch the show anyway.

I never said he didn't have the right to do it. But considering the series was nearly canceled because of costs, and subsequently sold off to Saban - I would think saving money would be a top priority.
And as for pitching a fit - I have that right too ^_^ But I'm probably not going to watch the show beyond the first episode if this is the kind of stuff they are going to do. I was already erasing it from my mental schedule the minute I saw those ninja secondary forms. (If Usagi Yojimbo taught me anything, it's that Samurai and Ninja are like water and oil. They don't mix.)
But, really, it's also just a big slap in the face - in general - to the property they just purchased: "Well, you're regular costumes just aren't cool enough." This isn't even Powered Up-territory - this is marketing research that "Thinks" muscles on heroes is what sells. I'm just saying, as a former kid, any discrepancy from the show to figure is indeed noticed. That's just what I remember when I use to buy Power Ranger toys as a kid - attention to detail from the show is what sold. (In my case, at least)
Also, any complaining on my part - we all in general want this series to be successful. Even if I don't watch it, I want it to prove successful - as even watered down Power Rangers is a cool show for kids to experience. I just think Saban is putting unnecessary impediments in their own way.

woow..i'm really shocked that the're really gonna use the upgrade suit. you are right from the beginning henshin grid
ReplyDeleteActually he's right 95% of the times...
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who likes the "mega ranger" suits? oh god, sounds like if I were talking about Sentai MegaRanger...
And I love the effect in the morphing in which they have ninja masks, it reminds me of mortla kombat.
I wonder will year two used the other shinken super suits. Or maybe use them in combination.
ReplyDeletei always believed it but is it me or does it look like cockpit upgrade looks like wild forces
ReplyDeleteThe PR fanboy in me says that the upgradeed suits are either used to control the Samurai Zords or are a power up of some kind. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that they remade the cockpit. It was necessary in seasons 2 and 3, but not this time. I wonder if that means no Super and Hyper modes?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Yellow Ranger promo is up!
