Tsunami in Japan

Even in Japan's turbulent seismic history, the 8.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Friday was one for the record books. The quake—the fifth-largest recorded since 1900 and the biggest to hit Japan in three centuries—released almost 1,000 times the energy released in the Haiti quake a year ago. The resulting 30-foot-tall tsunami slammed into Japan's northern coast and swept away people cars, boats and buildings.

Auto plants, electronics factories and refineries shut, roads buckled and power to millions of homes and businesses was knocked out. Several airports, including Tokyo's Narita, were closed and rail services halted. All ports were shut.

  1. We already know how it affects broadcasts. No Super Hero Time this weekend. OOO and Gokaiger are both postponed. I don't think they'll be filming for a while either.

  4. Maybe the broadcasts won't be delayed. I mean, if they didn't delay the broadcasts after the Hanshin Earthquake of 1995, they probably don't this year. Then again, this wasn't just a 6.7 earthquake. This was a 9-er, along with major tsunami.

  7. I dont think will be seeing OOO and Gokaiger for a while now. This is the biggest tragedy in Japan for the last decades.I mean how can kids sit and watch those shows when there are others kids who lost family or friends during the quake and tsunami.Lets also hope non of the actors from the shows were near any of the affected areas and cities either.

  9. I found out about the postponements from the forums. It had been posted on Rangerboard, Rangercrew and HJU before I posted it here and on TV Nihon's forum - they also didn't believe me at first, but it was true. And common sense, to be honest. The Japanese TV stations are probably on rolling news coverage right now.

  10. Forgot to add, I think the people who posted it on the forums got it from the TV Asahi website.

  11. I personally hope the death toll would stop climbing soon (preferably now). I did think about the Sentai actors and crew, not just Gokai, but all the past ones. Don't get me wrong, I'm worried about everyone in Japan, the Sentai cast and crew were just the ones I know. My prayers to everyone in Japan.

  12. This has got to be the first major pre-emption of Super Sentai (and tokusatsu in general, since other series were affected by this) since the death of Emperor Hirohito (Showa) all the way back in 1989.

(oh, and I realized that I made a goof in my last comment. It was a 6.8 earthquake that hit the Hanshin region in '95, not a 6.7)

  13. I just heard that GokaiBlue's actor got injured. Maybe they won't be filming new episodes at least for a week.
