Power Rangers Cosmic Fury - Team Work - Episode Review

 SPOILERS AHEAD

Summary:

On planet LEvvina, there are squidrills. Ollie arrives with the four dancers. There is one city. The dancers just want to fight. They start dancing. Ollie tells them they work for him today, that they are supposed to be a team. They want to destroy the city afterward. Quaddo, one of the dancer monsters, finds clothes under a rock. Ollie realizes it is not a rock, but Mick. Ollie calls Zentinels. Ollie recognizes the scarf as Zayto's cape. The Cosmic Fury Zords arrive and destroy a drill. The Rangers arrive and the Zords leave. Mick is held by Zentinels and calls Ollie's team horrible. Ollie calls more Zentinels. Ollie morphs into his new evil form. The others clap. He says he wishes they had powers. They morph. Ollie is shocked Amelia is red. She asks if he is not going to compliment her promotion. 

He can't believe they have new weapons too. Ollie wants to cancel Scrozzle's vacation. He sends Krymzo (Scorpio from Kyuranger) to fight Green and Black. Quaddo is to provide fire support. Jadana (Naria of Zyuohger) is to fight Gold. Snoutia and Ollie fight Red. Ollie says Red doesn't suit her, she says Bitter isn't a good color for her. She attacks Ollie and Snoutia. Izzy destroys Zentinels with her Morpher's blaster. Krymzo dances when fighting. Jadana is busy dancing with Gold. Javi destroys Krymzo. Quado is too busy doing a routine. Izzy destroys him with her daggers like boomerangs. Gold destroys Jadana. Amelia fights Snoutia. Izzy and AIyon save Mick. Ollie fights all four Rangers. Ollie leaves with Snoutia. 

Mick praises the team and likes Javi's new arm. Izzy asks if they have to track down Ollie. Amelia wants to look for Zayto. Mick says most of the planet is covered with forest. He shows them his cape. He had to turn into a bird to catch it. They retrace his movements and enter one of the forests. They see an impact crater and his broken saber. They find more clues and head deeper into the woods. Ollie and Snoutia follow them. AIyon repeatedly tries to get gruit but the trees fight back. Snoutia thinks Ollie's plans stink and that they have to fight. The forest grabs Snoutia with vines. Ollie calls Zentinels and calls Snoutia useless. Amelia touches a tree and mind-melds with it, finding out it is all connected. Aiyon also does it and confirms it acts as one. Mick asks them to ask about Zayto.

They find that Zayto crash-landed on the planet, he came upon a glowing tree and it decided to help him and heal him. Mick wants to get to the tree. Ollie follows them and blasts them. Vines wrap up the five. Ollie and the Zentinels go to find Zayto. Amelia and Zayto mind-meld with the vines, telling them they don't want to hurt the forest. The vines let go and destroyed the Zentinels. They are still scanning with the drill. The Rangers (including Mick)  morph and AIyon goes looking for Zayto. The Rangers call the Zords. They activate battle mode with the Squid Drill. Aiyon finds the glowing tree and gets Zayto out. Zayto is unconscious. He tries to read his mind but he can not. Zayto wakes up. Aiyon says he has changed since the Masters saved him and he feels great. They hug. Aiyon thanks the forest. The forest speaks in a female voice and tells Zayto to enjoy the time he has left. Aiyon is alarmed but Zayto brushes it off. 

With the Eagle, Lion, Shark, Wolf, and Bull, they make the Megazord. No reason is given to why Izzy is not in the Chameleon. She uses the Shark Slash. Amelia tells Ollie she can't save him. He teleports away. They do the Cosmic Mega Bolt and destroy the Drill. Aiyon and Zayto are in the Cobra zord. The others are happy. Mick wants to borrow the Eagle Zord to go home, saying his planet needs a Red Ranger. They say sure. (Note: We never see Mick give back the Eagle and then they have it in another episode with no explanation. Also, Mick never mentions his planet again.) He flies away in the Eagle. Back in the base, Amelia asks if Zayto is okay with her being Red, he says yes. Billy gives Zayto a morpher and an orb. He morphs and surprises everyone he is the Zenith Ranger. He says Zenith is what the Morpher Moasters called him. He uses the Red Master staff. Fern says Billy and Solon is converting the base into a spaceship. Zayto is also shocked Fern is there. Aiyon pulls Amelia aside about Zayto, saying he is not telling them something. Later on Planet Eltar, Zedd built his palace and taken over Eltar, Zordon's home planet. Ollie goes to visit Zedd and tells him his team failed. Zedd says teamwork doesn't work and that he sees great potential in him. He tells him to look out for himself, that he still thinks like a Ranger, to embrace his darkness. Ollie says he will make him proud. 

Franchise Shout-Outs:

* Mick mentions his planet. 

* Jadana is from Zyuohger, not Kyuranger. Zyuohger is another sentai that Power Rangers did not adapt. 

* Eltar is the home planet of Zordon, first mentioned in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the movie, and then made canon in future episodes of the show. 

Review:

I find the planet of Levvina interesting. The concept reminds me of Doctor Who. Levvina is not thousands of plants but just one thing, a hive mind. Whereas in Doctor Who it is usually an enemy or a bad thing for multiple entities to act as one, it is shown as a good here. Also, Ollie has trouble making a team work with monsters but the planet Levvina has teamwork making the dream work. The recurring theme of team work is when you listen to others, not everyone has the answer but you can help each other. In the previous episode, Amelia talks about how she misses Ollie and Aiyon misses Zayto, they don't have the answers but they can listen to each other and help each other. Ollie on the other hand wants to be in charge and command, and the other monsters want to do their own thing. Ollie doesn't really listen to them and they don't listen to him.
