Power Rangers Beast Morphers - Sound and Fury - Episode Review

Episode Summary:

A maintenance girl wants to do something more complicated and interviews with Zoey and Nate. Ben and Betty test out the Cheetah Claw for Devon. The dressing is thrown at Betty and it blows up. The girl Megan says they are a mess and she has experience. Nate doesn't like her. There is a long line of people applying for his assistant, Megan says she will be the next assistant to herself. Zoey and Nate meet at the movie. Scrozzle is telling a story to Roxy. Blaze brings a new Tubatron and shows Evok new keys--Fury Cells. Scrfozzle is mad he took them, Evox wants to use them. Megan sees Zoey and Nate and thinks it is a date and it is against the rules for Rangers to date and hse takes a picture. 

The Rangers face Tubatron. Blaze gives him a fury cell and he is powered up. The five morph. The trio fight Tubatron and Gold and Silver go after Blaze. Tubatron destroys Blue's saber. Gold blasts the box of fury cells. Silver takes a fury cell. Tubatron blasts Red away and his visor cracks. They de-morph and Devon fights the monster. Ravi and Zoey leave on Cruise. Gold and Silver defeat Blaze. Blaze groans and says they won't get his fury cells and he teleports away. At the base, the Rangers show the Commanders. Nate tells her about the Fury Cells. 

Commander says Nate needs his assistant. Nate trusts Zoey to pick the assistant. Zoey bumps into Megan and she says her the video of the two together. Megan shows her the handbook about dating. Zoey denies. Megan blackmails her to be the assistant. Zoey is shocked. Later, Megan indeed is the assistant and helps with the claw. Nate puts the fury cell to power the armor. Megan questions his calculations. He tells her to put half a bottle of Morph X and she puts a whole bottle. He turns it on and it overloads. The claw comes for them. It spins around Ben and Betty. Megan blames Nate. She goes to report the commander. Zoey hears this. Commander says it doesn't sound like Nate. Commander asks for Zoey to bring Nate. Megan says being a Ranger and charge of the lab is too much. Megan wants to be the chief scientist. Nate shows she used the whole bottle on purpose.

Zoey tells the truth that she was blackmailing. Megan tells her about them dating. Commander says her actions are terrible. She kicks her out and calls security. Nate and Zoey explain about the date. Commander says she believes them. The Rangers regroup. Nate says they haven't tested the new mode but the others want to use it. Rangers morph and fight Tubatron. Red glows. Blue and Silver unable to block an attack. The armor slowly appears on Devon. Fire blasts out when his new mode is finished. He gets the cheetah claws and fights the monster. Scrozzle sends a Gigatron. The Rangers regather. Cruise and Devon form the battle mode of Racer Zord. They fight the Gigatron. Back at the juice bar, Zoey and Nate talk about Megan. He doesn't understand why Zoey let her blackmail her. It was kinda a date for Zoey. Nate is surprised. Zoey says she sort of likes him. He says it is phenomenal because the feelings are mutual. He confesses about the flowers. Nate asks what will they do. Steel is surprised but the other boys deny it would happen that they are together.

Episode Review:

Megan is an interesting character as she is not Roxy and Blaze or affiliated with Evox but they still use the 'evil' music with her actions. Also interesting that this episode introduces Devon's powerup but is basically a Zoey episode. This is not the first time for this to happen though. I commend the writing staff for a great episode with a new character.

Power Rangers: Non-Color Teammate Names (2019)

I did the Super Sentai version, here are the Power Rangers. I'm not counting Ninjor or Blue Senturion or any Ranger-like Allies that are like them.

Phantom Ranger

The first Sixth Ranger to not have a color in his/her name. In Super Sentai, his counterpart VRV Master was not a Ranger, no mecha (zord) nor personal weapon. 

Magna Defender

Magna Defender, himself, is considered a Rnager-like Ally but when Mike became him, the show and toyline treated him as a Sixth Ranger. 

Titanium Ranger

Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22. It is a lustrous transition metal with a silver color, low density, and high strength. He is basically a Silver Ranger. Boom Comics considers him this as he was included in the Silver Ranger cover they did a year ago.

Quantum Ranger

 Quantum distinctly is not a color. It is considered they picked this name not to be confused for Red. His Japanese counterpart as called Time Fire.

Lunar Wolf Ranger
While in Super Sentai, he was Gao Silver with the color in his name, Wild Force decided to call him "Lunar Wolf" instead of a color. My guess they did this because Quantum Ranger had a non-color name and wanted to keep that motif. 

Kat Ranger/Shadow Ranger/Omega Ranger

Shadow Ranger is hard to definiate if he's black or blue or what. So understandable they called him 'Shadow.' Omega Ranger, surprisingly, was not called 'White' but probably 'Omega' being that Omega means "the last." Omega Ranger's original name was DekaBreak. Kat Ranger is just named that because she is Kat, a feline. Her counterpart was Swan-inspired. My guess they did all this was because Dekaranger didn't use color names for their non-core Rangers.

Nova Ranger

"Nova" is a space thing, she was probably called that because it sounded cool. Her counterpart was "DekaBright."

Solaris Knight/Wolf Warrior

Even though treated as a Sixth Ranger both by Power Rangers and Super Sentai, fans don't consider him a 'Ranger' because of his name 'Knight.' Fans consider him a Ranger-like ally. I consider him a Ranger regardless. His counterpart was MagiShine. Wolf Warrior's Japanese counterpart was Wolzard Fire. He is considered a Ranger-like Ally. 

Mercury Ranger

His counterpart was Bouken Silver so he had a color name, but this guy was probably named Mercury because it was considered cool. My guess is because the last season the sixth rangers didn't have color names.

Robo Knight

After Operation Overdrive, all rangers went by colors or animals (in Jungle Fury). The only one during Saban era to not have a color name was Robo Knight, stylized after Gosei Knight. 

Graphite Ranger

"Graphite" is not a color. It is a crystalline allotropic form of carbon. In Japan, he was Kyoryu Gray. With all the unique color names like Aqua Ranger and Purple Ranger, Graphite Ranger is the only one that isn't a color. Gray Ranger doesn't sound as catchy either. He is also considered a Silver Ranger in Boom Comics. 

Super Sentai: Non-Color Teammate Names (2019)

UPDATED 10/19/19
I'm counting only select Extra Heroes. Whole teams that didn't have colors in their names: JAKQ, Changeman, Zyuranger, Dairanger, Carranger and Toqger. I think I am counting the heroes with the word from their team in their names, except for those in Hurricanger.

King Ranger
The Ohrangers had colors in their name. In Power Rangers Zeo, he is the Gold Ranger. Toei considers him a Black Ranger. The kanji symbol of King is on his head and belt.

Signalman
In Carranger, he was an extra hero but anyway, he didn't have 'Racer' in their name.

Time Fire
I think he was the first team member to not have a color name in a team that had color names. In Power Rangers Time Force, he was the Quantum Ranger.
Goraijer
 The Hurricanger had color names but the Goraijer did not. They had the names of their insects: Kabuto Raijer and Kuwagata Raijer. In Ninja Storm, they had color names: Crimson and Navy.

Shurikenger
In Hurricanger, he was Shurikenger. Shuriken is the star shape. In Ninja Storm, he was Green Samurai Ranger.

AbareKiller
The American team didn't want to use the name obviously. The name is fine for Japan, but not for America. But a cool name none the less. But I wouldn't want kids saying 'Killer.'

AbareMax
Just a power-up but treated toy-wise as a sixth ranger.

DekaBreak
He calls himself a "Daybreak" detective. Break could refer to his electric arracks or that stated previously. In SPD, he was the Omega Ranger.

DekaMaster
'Master' of them all, makes sense. Also, funny cause he's a dog. He's his own master.

Deka Swan
Her name is Swan and her powers are swan inspired. In SPD, she was Kat Ranger because she was a feline-like alien. The helmet does look cat-like.

Deka Bright
Coolest name ever. In SPD, she was the Nova Ranger.

Magi Shine
He's shiny and his name is shine.

Magi Mother
She was a mother, obviously but I don't know, was she really just a mother? She was a warrior, not just a mother.

GekiChopper
He can chop things. In Jungle Fury, he was Rhino Ranger.

GoseiKnight
Toei counts him as a Silver Ranger and doesn't have 'Silver' in his name and suit seemed the most like an Extra Hero. In Megaforce, he was Robo Knight and treated as a Sixth Ranger.

Stag Buster and Beet Buster

They were the fourth and fifth rangers but they had their insect names but not color names. In Power Rangers, they have color names but their insects were changed. Kabuto Beetle to Mantis and Stag Beetle into Scarab. 

Starninger
In Ninninger, they had the color names in Japanese. Starninger was the only one with a shape name and not a color. In Ninja Steel, he was the Gold Ranger. 

ZyuOh The World
In Zyuohger, the main team had beast names but ZyuOh The World has a unique name as he is made of three animals and not one.

Ryu Commander

In Kyuranger, he did have the Violet name temporarily but ultimately was 'commander.'

Houhou Soldier
He was the second Red Ranger in Kyuranger so he got another name. 

Paten X / Lupin X

He was the 7th warrior in the series but the fourth of each team in Lupinranger vs Patranger.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers - Hypnotic Halloween - Episode Review

SUMMARY:

Zoey is looking or something, they are dressed up. Steel is the Frankenstein monster, Nate is Dr. Frankenstein, Zoey is a Viking and Ravi is Sherlock Holmes. They use a streaming service that hypnotizes them into being their characters by Scorzzle. Devon arrives and sees them believing they are their characters. The others run off but Devon stops Sherlock Holmes. Ravi wants him to be a cop. Devon goes to Zoey's costume trunk and pits on a British cop costume. Devon uses a bad accent and tells "Sherlock" he is looking for Ravi. He tells him that Ravi was scared of the dentist. Clips are shown. He also tells him about the boy Joey learning martial arts, from last week. The spell comes off Ravi and he is back to normal. Devon and Ravi change into costumes. Devon changes into a Viking and tells Ravi to get the Frankenstein characters. Ravi tells the Commander to shut down a floor to find Nate and Steel. Zoey is taking down a snack machine when Devon arrives as a Viking.

Zoey throws an axe at him and the theme starts. After the commercial, The axe is thrown on Devon but it is rubber. Devon wraps her with a cable from his Morpher. Devon tells her about Zoey, a fearless warrior. He tells her about when she becomes a Ranger. Zoey or Ingrid the Viking flinches. Devon tells her about when Zoey said she'd be better without Jax the Beast Bot. The clip runs about her apologizing to Jax about taking him for granted. The spell wears off and Zoey returns to normal. Meanwhile, Steel scares Nate. Ravi wraps cables around the two. He is dressed as a doctor. All three main Rangers are dressed as doctors (with the white lab coats). They talk to the tied up Nate and Steel. The trio tells them about Nate and Steel. Clips run about Nate creating Steel in front of the villains. Nate morphs into the Gold Ranger. Steel then becomes the Silver Ranger in the clip. Devon and the others narrate.

The spell wears off the two. They are untied. Commander asks how thye are, she says a Robotron is trying to break in to a Morph X Tower. The Robotron scares a Morph X truck driver. Scrozzle is happy. The Rangers arrive and morph. Gigadrone arrives and Zoey and Devon leave on their zords. Zoey blasts the Gigadrone which makes itself another come out of its back. It is a Delta model. The Megazords fight. Gold and Silver fight the Robotron. Smash brings the Wheeler Zord to Ravi. Gold and Silver destroy the Robotron with Striker Saber attack. Sytems are down for Red and Ravi goe sto Gorilla mode and protects the others. Gold and Silver call their zords. They save Ravi. Steel attacks the gigadrones with his zord. Nate gets his crane and picks up a Gigadrone and spins him around. The two zords combine into a Megazord and destroy the Delta Model. Later, the Rangers have a movie night again. Devon comes out as a skeleton ninja and makes them drop the popcorn. Now he likes wearing costumes, he likes 'being' the character. The Rangers play fight. 

REVIEW: 

I think this is the first episode not to actually have Roxy and Blaze outside of the clips. Interesting how Ninja Steel tried coping the school and Bulk and Skull aspects of MMPR but Beast Morphers plays homage to Martial Arts and Juice Bar...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers - Tuba Triumph - Episode Review

[I missed last week's episode, if it is on Netflix next month I'll review it.]

Summary:

Ravi is drawing a boy playing the tuba. Bullies bully the boy and he throws away the bully. Ravi talks to him. The boy says it's stupid. Ravi says his granddad played in a Jazz band. They shake hands. Ravi offers to train Joey. The boy leaves. Roxy arrives and takes the tuba. Tuba becomes a monster and Roxy gives him the chip to collect the Red Ranger's beast power. The Rangers morph and fight the monster. The monster blasts them with sound. Roxy fights the Rangers as well. Roxy goes into "Ranger mode." Red fights Tuba, Robotron bumps into Roxy. They retreat. They return to Scrozzle who tinkers with the Tubatron. 

Nate is fixing the detectors to detect Tubatron's sound waves. Back at Riptide, Ravi and the little boy Joey meet to train. Joey can't get the tornado kick right. Ravi gives him a pep talk. Joey says he shouldn't throw away the tuba. Ravi tells him to see him tomorrow. Back with Scrozzle, he upgraded Tubatron.  Roxy wants Tubatron to blast Blaze. Blaze objects but gets blasted into the brick wall. Roxy is giddy. Back at the base, Ravi polishes tubas and instruments. Ben and Betty play around with the instruments. Ravi says they belong to his grandfather. Commander says a Power Rangers cannot have distractions. He tells her it is for a friend. She says there is more important things to do. Betty tries to unclog the sax. Hilarity ensues. Ravi keeps training Joey and shows him a sketchbook. Joey sees the drawing of him and Ravi and he puts them away. Ravi says he is not an artist, it is a distraction. He gives Joey the tuba. Ravi gives him another pep talk. Joey plays the tuba and the detector catches it. The Rangers find Joey. The Rangers get blasted by Tubatron who has arrived with Roxy. The Rangers morph.

Joey watches the Rangers. Devon uses his beast power and gets blasted back by Tubatron. All the Rangers go down. Nate thinks of making a similar soundwave. Joey hears this and goes in front of the Rangers and he blasts at the monster. The monster goes down, the Rangers go up and blast him. The upgrade goes off. Silver and Gold protect Joey while the main trio goes after Tubatron. They avoid a blast and the chip falls off amd Roxy takes it to Scorzzle. The chip is fried and Roxy is mad. She asks for a Gigadrone. Gold records the sound of Joet's tuba. The Rangers fight the Tubatron. Tronics arrive. A van is dispatched. The trio destroys the Tubatron. 

Tubadrone and the zords are deployed. Nate uploads the data file to the zords to use against Tubadrone. It sends sound and Blue does too, they cancel each other out. They freeze the Gigadrone and Red uses his blaster and they destroy it. Joey tells the trio about it at Riptide. Betty and Ben come with instruments. Thet both sound horrible. The bullies from before come and take Ben's instrument and white goo splash on the other bullies. The main bully is upset. Joey stands to him and does te backflip kick on his hat and he leaves. Joey framed his drawing. They hug,

Review:

Doesn't Joey look like one of the kids from All That (2019)? Also, why didn't Ravi have Joey take out the tuba from the trash? That's the first thing I would've done! Oh, Ravi, haven't you become genre-savvy already? Nate has. I guess it is just one genre-savvy ranger per season. Jayden was the one for Samurai and Dino Charge Rangers had their moments. And that's about it, Megaforce and Ninja Steel didn't get the memo. Mick was pretty genre-savvy but not sure if he counts. Joey stood up to the bullies but with martial arts, not his tuba. I would've liked it better if it was with the tuba. Like playing really well, not blasting him...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers - Tools of the Betrayed - Episode Review

At Riptide, Devon fights a blindfolded Ravi and Zoey. They finish and Betty and Ben come with a reality headset. They get called about Blaze. Devon tells Betty and Ben for nothing to happen to it. Betty uses it and she is surfing in the game but knocking everything out in the actual place. She falls but she says she is fine. A shark comes up to her and she and Ben fall and breaks the headset. Gold and Silver fight Tronics. The others arrive and Blaze is about to make a Robotron when Devon slices the laptop in half Blaze leaves. The Rangers clean up the Tronics. 

Back at base, Devon tells the commander. Betty and Ben show Zoey the broken headset. She tells them he will be less mad if she says she did it. Betty is against it. Zoey takes the blame. Ben and Betty lie. Zoey takes Devon. Evox is mad at Blaze. Blaze leaves and Roxy plots. Scrozzle fixes the Robotron Maker. Roxy asks if his computer and break things apart. Her plan is to break the weapons of the Rangers. Nathan makes a Gigadrone detector. Zoey says she hated the gigadrone that came from under the one. Devon enlists Ben and Betty's help set up the detectors. Each Ranger takes one as well. Roxy spots Ben and Betty. She opens a truck cargo bay and gets a wrench. She makes a Robotron out of the wrench. He 'undos' a bike. She puts a chip on him and spots Zoey. Tooltron is tasked to take apart Zoey's wrist communicator and he takes apart the Gigadrone detector. Roxy leaves. Back at base, Commander tells Nate to activate them. He says Ben and Betty's unt isn't working. They access the camera and see it is apart. Zoey, Ben, and Betty came with ice cream. Ravi thinks he didn't do it. They show it is in pieces. 

Devon figures Ben and Betty broke his headset. Zoey admits she covered for them. Devon says why should he believe Zoey. Zoey pulls the friend card and Devon talks about honesty. Zoey leaves. Jax follows Zoey. He says he believes her but Devon had a point. Zoey says she needs space. The boys fix the broken detector and it is linked. Roxy and Toolreon appear. The boy Rangers morph. The weapons are taken apart. Tooltron wants to take about Steel. Blue hands Steel a hubcap and the ray destroys the detector again. Roxy fights the four while Tooltron runs to het Silver. Red speed runs on Roxy. Blue uses his beast power but Roxy leaves. Zoey's morpher is taken apart and Tronics are sent after her. Tooltron collects her jackrabbit power on the chip. The other Rangers and Cruise arrive.  Cruise gives her her morpher and the blasters. They destroy the evil blaster and the tronics. 

Zoey morphs and the Rangers fight Tooltron and the Tronics. Red and Gold destroy Tooltron. The Rangers head back to base when Scrozzle returns and gets the chip. He scolds Roxy for leaving the data chip behind. He makes a delta gigadrone and the detectors go off. All zords are deployed. Wrecker Zord goes into battle mode Beast X Megazord is formed. Gigadrone arrives and another comes out of him. It is a new Gigadrone. The two Megazords fight them. They destroy the Gigadrones. Devon apologizes and gives a carrot smoothie toe Zoey. She apologizes as well for being dishonest. They agree to be friends forever. Ben and Betty give him his new headset. Betty tells him about the shark. The shark comes and he freaks out and slips on a familiar skateboard (Chase's with the Kiwi on it) and Ben catches the headset. 

Episode Review:

A solid episode, the plot made sense and all the characters came together. The Ben and Betty plot was not forced in and meant more to the A plot. I did notice that there was very little Blaze in this episode.

GRADE: B
