Power Rangers Amounts of Episodes (1993-2023)

The episode counts went down from each era, Saban Entertainment to Disney to Saban Brands and then to Hasbro. Each season has gone down, the Saban Brands and Hasbro seasons I am counting as one season except for Cosmic Fury because of its small episode count, the same as Aquitar.

145 Episodes - MMPR
50 Episodes - Zeo
45 Episodes - Turbo and Lost Galaxy
44 - Samurai, Dino Charge, Ninja Steel, Beast Morphers, Dino Fury
43 - In Space
42 - Megaforce (both seasons)
40 - Wild Force, Time Force, Lightspeed Rescue
38 - SPD, Dino Thunder, Ninja Storm
32 - RPM, Jungle Fury, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive
10 - Aquitar, Cosmic Fury

Interesting note:
Most PR seasons are shorter than the Sentai season they adapted, the most notable being Aquitar/Kakuranger and Cosmic Fury/Kyuranger. There are some seasons that have more episodes than the sentai itself, for example, MMPR season 1 had 60 episodes while Zyuranger had 59, mostly because they used Zyu2 footage. MMPR season 2 had 52 episodes while Dairanger had 50, because of Zyu2 and also the use of recycled footage and the episodes produced in Australia during the filming of the movie. Zeo had 50 episodes while Ohranger had 48, probably because they used the movie and teamup footage.

Super Sentai Amount of Episodes #2 (1975-2022)

This is the updated version of one I did in 2011. Goranger had 84 episodes, Changeman had 55 episodes, Kakuranger had 53 episodes, and Battle Fever J had 52 episodes. There are 52 weeks in a year so it makes sense most series are 52 or less. 12 series had 51 episodes, 13 series had 50 episodes, 6 series had 49 episodes, 7 had 48 episodes, and 2 had 47 episodes. Goranger had the most, JAKQ had the least, and Changeman had the second most episodes. I think Kingohger might have 48 or 49. Here is a new chart.

Super Sentai Pie Chart 1975-2022

52 and more - 8.9%
51 - 26.7%
50 - 28.9%
49 - 13.3%
48 - 15.6%
47 or less - 6.7%

51 Episodes: Denjiman, Dynaman, Bioman, Maskman, Turboranger, Jetman, Megaranger, Timerager, Gaoranger, Hurricanger, Lupinranger Vs Patrenger, Gokaiger
50 Episodes: Go-Busters, Zyuranger, Dairanger, Goseiger, Go-Onger, Flashman, Abaranger, Dekaranger, Sun Vulcan, Goggle V, Gingaman, GoGoV, Donbrothers
49 Episodes: Liveman, Magiranger, Boukenger, Gekiranger, Shinkenger, Zenkaiger
48 Episodes: Fiveman, Ohranger, Carranger, Kyoryuger, Ryusoulger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger
47 Episodes: Toqger, Ninninger.
The majority of the series (13) has 50 episodes. Second is 12 series that have 51 episodes, and third is 7 series with 48 episodes.

Inazuman in Kamen Rider Movie Taisen Ultimatum!

Inazuman is a fictional character created by Shotaro Ishinomori. First appearing in the tokusatsu series of the same name, the mutant superhero has gone on to appear in manga and anime.

Following Akumaizer 3and Grandain and Skydain in being re-designed old forgotten characters from Shotaro Ishinomori, Inazuman will be in the Kamen Rider Movie Taisen Ultimatum.

It will premiere in theaters in December 8th.
The Tokusatsu series aired from October 2, 1973 to March 26, 1974 for 25 episodes and Inazuman Flash aired from April 9, 1974 to September 24, 1974 for 23 episodes. In the manga adaptation by creator Shotaro Ishinomori, Goro Watari is a junior high school student named Saburo Kazeda.

In the first Tokusatsu series, Inazuman was college student Goro Watari, a mutant. He lost his mother as a child and had other dark moments in his childhood but when the Neo-Human Empire Phantom Army begins its attacks on mankind with its Phantom Soldiers and Mutan Robots, he puts his psionic powers to the test.

Hero Profile: Chojin Bibyun

The series Akumaizer 3 was followed by a sequel called Chojin Bibyun which used rejected designs from the Kamen Rider series as its hero designs. At the end of the series, the heroes' bodies are destroyed, but their souls survive to be reincarnated in the direct sequel to the show, Choujin Bibyun. So unlike the first series, they had human forms.

Hero Profile: Akumaizer 3

Akumaizer 3 is a Japanese science fiction tokusatsu television series, created by Shotaro Ishinomori and produced by Toei Company. The series ran for 38 episodes in 1975 on NET, now known as TV Asahi. The series remains obscure outside of Japan, but was popular and renowned in its home country.

The program frequently alludes to the famous Alexandre Dumas, père novel The Three Musketeers.  Due to the inhuman nature of the main characters, the primary protagonists and antagonists were portrayed exclusively by stuntmen, with only their voices being portrayed by professional actors. Because of this, an unusual number of well-known voice actors star in the series, as the voices of the main characters. Makio Inoue portrays Xavitan., Kōji Yada plays Evil, and Jōji Yanami provides Gabra's gravelly intonation.

The program follows the adventures of three mutant superhero-refugees from the "Akuma Clan" ("Devil Clan", in English), a vast empire that exists below the surface of the Earth, and their efforts to stop the Akumas from attacking the surface world. The three warriors are Xavitan, a half-demon swordsman, Evil, a somewhat vain and foppish sharpshooter, and Gabra, a slow- and dim-witted strongman. Together, they make up the superheroic team of the show's title. At the end of the series, the heroes' bodies are destroyed, but their souls survive to be reincarnated in the direct sequel to the show, Choujin Bibyun.

Recently Bandai made S.I.C. (Super Imaginative Chogokin) figures.

They will soon cameo in Kamen Rider Wizard.

Pretty Cure Magical Girl Series

I cover Tokusatsu, but 'Henshin' also has to do with transformations and technically what follows is a Sentai and done by Toei. I am always interesting in Heronies. For those who don't know, 'Magical Girl' is a genre of Anime and Manga. 'Magical Girl' is about a little girl or teenage girl with some magical friend and magical powers. Sailor Moon changed it by having them fight evil. Some still don't fight evil. But here is a franchise called Pretty Cure and the reason I bring it up is because it usually runs after Kamen Rider on TV Asahi.

 Futari wa Pretty Cure (2004-2005)
Futari wa Pretty Cure (Together, We are Pretty Cure) was created by Izumi Todo. The original Pretty Cure series, directed by Daisuke Nishio aired on TV Asahi between February 1, 2004 and January 30, 2005. It is the only Pretty Cure series to date to have received an English language version, which aired in Canada from March 2009. It revolved around two girls, Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro, who encounter the Mipple and Mepple, who give them the powers to the fight the Dark Zone: a dimension of evil that has encroached on the Garden of Light and want to do the same to Earth. The initial run of the series has Cure White and Cure Black searching for the Prism Stones, and they place them in a heart-shaped device known as the Prism Hopish. Later in the series, Porun, the Prince of the Garden of Light, grants the Pretty Cure duo use of their Rainbow Bracelets as they defeat the Dark King. The heronies used the color schemes of Black and Pink; and White and Blue. It aired alongside of Dekaranger and Kamen Rider Blade.

Pretty Cure Max Heart (2005-2006)
Pretty Cure Max Heart continues the story when Nagisa and Honoka meet the mysterious Hikari Kujou, revealed to be the "Life" of the Queen with no memory of her life before and powers scattered in the form of the "Heartiel." But as the Pretty Cure duo attempt to find the Heartiel, remnants of the Dark Zone are protecting a mysterious boy suspected to be the "Life" of the Dark King. Cure Black and Cure White fight back these new enemies with Hikari backing them up as Shiny Luminous. It introduces Shiny Luminous/ "Life of the Queen" in human form after the Queen got split apart following her last encounter with the Dark King. Going under the guise of Akane's cousin and working at her takoyaki stand, Hikari enrols into Nagisa and Honoka's middle school two years under them and becomes friends with them. She had a color scheme of Pink and White. Aired alongside of Magiranger and Kamen Rider Hibiki.

Pretty Cure Splash Star (2006-2007)
Saki Hyuuga and Mai Mishou met after they followed glowing balls that flew towards the Sky Tree,  situated on top of a mountain in their town. 5 years later, they met again at the same place and became the new legendary warriors PreCure. Spirits from the Land of Fountains, revealed they chose to protect the Fountain of Sun hidden in Earth. Later they are upgraded from Cure Bloom and cure Egret to Cure Bright and Cure Windy with help from two additional spirits. The villains of this series are the Dark Fall, who are searching for the Fountain of Sun, the last of the seven fountains that feed the source of all life forms for all worlds. Their color schemes are unique as they are not the traditional primary colors. It aired alongside of Boukenger and Kamen Rider Kabuto.

Yes! Pretty Cure 5 (2007-2008)
Nozomi Yumehara finds a magical book and a creature from the Palmier Kingdom. Nozomi decides to help restore his world, which has been destroyed by the Nightmare, by completing the book and finding the 55 Pinkies to make any wish come true. S, she proves she has the heart to be a Pretty Cure and is given her Pinky Catch from a pink butterfly letting her transform into Cure Dream. Meanwhile, the Nightmares are fighting the cures to steal the Dream Collet and defeat Pretty Cure. To help, she chooses a team of four other students. Together with Cure Rouge, Cure Lemonade, Cure Mint and Cure Aqua, they form the Pretty Cure Team. The series has made use of butterflies as the main theme, also to the extent that the girls transform with the phrase "Pretty Cure, Metamorphose!"; which refers back to the butterfly theme. This is the first team of Pretty Cure that is of five and they have the basic Sentai colors. It aired alongside Gekiranger and Kamen Rider Den-O.

Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! (2008-2009)
In the direct sequel series, the Cure Rose Garden has always been concealed from human eye. However Eternal, an art organization known for amassing treasure and artwork from many worlds, is trying to get to the garden. They first invade the Palmier Kingdom and four other kingdoms. Flora senses the approaching danger and sends a letter to Nozomi and the Pretty Cure 5. Their new mission is to find the four rulers that have fled from their kingdoms since they hold the Rose Garden Keys. To perform this mission, Nozomi and the others regain their ability to transform into PreCure Five. It aired alongside of Go-Onger and Kamen Rider Kiva.

Fresh Pretty Cure (2009-2010)

This is the first Pretty Cure series to cater in outside the target audiences' age demographic extending beyond young girls. It's also the first to feature more mature-looking characters and Cure costumes which resemble fashionable outfits. All subsequent seasons have followed thus, with due emphasis always paid to costume design. The series's main themes involve traditional playing card suits, as well as fruits and clovers; these symbols and objects are strongly associated with the cures, magical devices and attacks that the series' characters use. Love Momozono is a 14-year-old student at Yotsuba Junior Highschool that tends to care more for others than for herself. One day she visits a show of the famous dance unit "Trinity" and decides to become a dancer, too. On the same event, subordinates of the Labyrinth Kingdom show up who want to collect the unhappiness of the audience. Love gets the power to change into Cure Peach and fights them. Soon after, she is joined by her good friends Miki (Cure Berry), Inori (Cure Pine) to begin her life to protect all worlds and compete in the dance contest. The Pretty Cures are of Pink, Yellow/Orange, Blue and Black/Scarlet. It aired alongside of Shinkenger, Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Double.

 HeartCatch Pretty Cure (2010-2011)
The series has two main motifs. One is fashion, which is referenced to Tsubomi joining the fashion club, which is part of the storyline. And second is flowers, which are prominent in the naming of numerous characters and items, as well as in the main storyline. Additionally, most episodes contain at least one reference to the language of flowers. In each person resides a Heart Flower, which is connected to the great Heart Tree that watches over everyone. Protecting this tree are the Heartcatch PreCures, who defend it against the Desert Apostles, who plan to wilt everything and turn the world into a desert. However, when the current PreCure, Cure Moonlight, is defeated in battle and the Heart Tree loses its flowers, she sends two fairies to seek out her replacement. They find Tsubomi Hanasaki, a shy new girl to become Cure Blossom. Joined by her new friend, Erika Kurumi, who becomes Cure Marine, they fight against the Desert Apostles who transform the wilting Heart Flowers inside people into monsters known as Desertarians. By defeating these monsters, they gain Heart Seeds which allow the Heart Tree to become healthier again. There is four Pretty Cures in this series: Pink, Blue, Yellow and Purple. It aired alongside of Goseiger, Kamen Rider Double, and Kamen Rider OOO.

 Suite Pretty Cure♪ (2011-2012)
Produced by Toei Animation, the series is directed by Munehisa Sakai, who directed the One Piece anime series and character designs by Akira Takahashi, who previously worked on Kaidan Restaurant. A manga adaptation is also being serialised in Kodansha's monthly Nakayoshi magazine.  The series theme is music, which are prominent to the names of the Cures and the magical devices they use. In Major Land, a Melody of Happiness is due to be played, spreading happiness throughout the world. However, an evil Mephisto steals the Legendary Score, plotting to turn it into a Melody of Sorrow to spread sadness. Aphrodite, the queen of Major Land, scatters the Notes that make up the Legendary Score into the human world and sends a fairy to Kanon Town in order to recover them. There, she meets two girls, Hibiki Hojo and Kanade Minamino, who are chosen to become the Suite Pretty Cure in order to recover the missing Notes and protect everyone's happiness. The Pretty Cures are Pink, White, Blue and Black. It alongside of Gokaiger, Kamen Rider OOO and Fourze.

Smile Pretty Cure! (2012-Now)
The series is written by Shōji Yonemura, who is best known as the head writer of Glass Fleet and Kamen Rider Kabuto. It started airing in February, alongside Go-Busters and Kamen Rider Fourze and soon Wizard. The kingdom of Märchenland, where various characters from fairy tales reside, is attacked by Pierrot, the emperor of the Bad End Kingdom, who seeks to direct the world towards its worst ending and steals the Cure Decors, which power Royale, Queen of Märchenland. Using the last of her energy, Royale manages to seal Pierrot away. However, his minions seek to revive Pierrot by harnessing the Bad Energy from Earthlings. Royale orders a fairy to search for five legendary warriors, the Pretty Cures. Arriving in the town of Nanairogaoka, she encounters Miyuki Hoshizora, a new transfer student, who soon gains the power to become Cure Happy. Joined by her new friends become Cure Sunny, Cure Peace, Cure March and Cure Beauty respectively. The team colors are Pink, Orange, Green, Yellow and Blue.

Toei: When filming Legend War for Power Rangers 注意 東映株式会社 パワーレンジャー レジェンド大戦

Now that we know that Toei will be shooting the Legend War of Gokaiger (ゴーカイジャー) again for Power Rangers excluding teams before Zyuranger (ジュウレンジャー), I decided to modify this post I did for 'Saban Brands.' I do not know many Japanese or Kanji but I am going to copy and paste some key words. Toei will probably not read this but I just thought I'd do it anyway. I wrote this in simple language to be easy to translate.

Power Rangers: パワーレンジャー
Legend War: レジェンド大戦
Toei: 東映株式会社

In the Gokaiger's  Legacy War, the past 34 Super Sentai (teams) fight foot soldiers of the main villain of the Gokaiger series. They loose their powers in order to back away the villains. Toei said they would not be filming the Pre-Zyuranger teams and I suppose Dairanger will not included either. Here are some things to keep in mind...

1. Excluding Teams
Dairanger was not a Power Rangers team. Only Kiba Ranger was adapted to White Ranger. Kakuranger was indeed the Aquitar Rangers.  忍者戦隊カクレンジャー (Kakuranger) = エイリアンレンジャー (Alien Rangers). キバレンジャー (Kibaranger) = ホワイトレンジャー

2. Additional Rangers
Toei don't forget there are some extra Power Rangers that were not in Sentai.
Titanium Ranger: タイタニアムレンジャー
Phantom Ranger: ファントムレンジャー (VRV Master of Carranger VRVマスター)
Elephant Ranger: エレファントレンジャー
Shark Ranger: シャークレンジャー
Bat Ranger: バットレンジャー

THE FOLLOWING, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO USE ACTORS, AND JUST SUITS, TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION:
3. Mighty Morphin Powers
The Mighty Morphin Powers themselves were said to be destroyed but we did see them be reused in the episodes"Always a Chance", "Forever Red" and "Once A Ranger." Jason and Rocky were the Red Ranger, but it can be said Jason would be the Red Ranger. Rocky could take the place of a Zeo Ranger. Zack and Adam were the Black Ranger. But it can be said Zack would be the Black Ranger. So Adam could be a Zeo Ranger. Billy is always Blue Ranger and was only the Blue Ranger. Trini and Aisha were the Yellow Rangers,  We can say Trini is Yellow even though her actress Thuy Trang passed away more than a decade ago. Kim and Kat were the Pink Ranger. But it could be said Kim to be the original Pink Ranger and Kat can be a Zeo Ranger.

4. Zeo Powers
Zeo Powers were abandoned and still active as seen in the episode "Forever Red." If Zack takes place of the Black Ranger. Adam can be the Green Ranger for Zeo. If Jason takes spot of Red Ranger, Rocky can be Blue Ranger for Zeo. Tanya can be Yellow Ranger, Kat can be Pink Ranger if it is supposed that Kim was Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. And even though Jason was the Gold Ranger, the powers are now with Trey. This is assumed in "Countdown to Destruction" finale for "Power Rangers in Space" even though we don't see his face.

5. Space Powers
Andros was Red, Carlos was Black, TJ was Blue, Ashley was Yellow, Cassie was Pink and Zhane was Silver. But Carlos, TJ, Ashley and Cassie were also the Turbo Rangers. Adam, Tommy, Tanya and Kat were Turbo Rangers too but if they are busy being Zeo Rangers, then who are being the Turbo Rangers if the other four will be Space Rangers.

6. Turbo Powers Dilemma
Tommy, Adam, Tanya, and Kat were Turbo Rangers but if they are busy being Zeo Rangers, then they can't be Turbo Rangers. TJ, Carlos, Ashley and Cassie were Turbo Rangers but if TJ, Carlos, Ashley and Cassie are busy being Space Rangers, then they can't be Turbo Rangers. The only Ranger you can have with Turbo Ranger is Justin. Even if you are not using actors and just suits, you have to take this in consideration when shooting a scene that has a lot of past teams and suits. Then you would just have the Blue Turbo Ranger by himself.

-OR-
ロボットレンジャー
Writing loophole: In the episode "Robot Rangers" of Turbo, it had been established that Zordon was making robot duplicates of the Turbo team, namely Justin, Cassie, Carlos, TJ and Ashley. So we can say they are being used.

7. Tommy's Powers
Even if Turbo Rangers and Space Rangers are excused by new members, Power Rangers still limits how many Ranger suits can appear because Tommy has been many Ranger.  Tommy has been five in fact. Only one of them that was used by someone else and can be replaced. Above we see the back of four Rangers, using the terms of Power Rangers: Red Turbo Ranger, Zeo Ranger I Red, Black Dino Ranger, White Ranger, and Green Ranger.

トミーオリバー
Tommy had five powers: Red Turbo Ranger, Zeo Ranger I Red, Black Dino Ranger, White Ranger, and Green Ranger. Even if they have the helmets on, it wouldn't make sense for them to exist. Above photo is from the episode "Fighting Spirit" of Dino Thunder, where Tommy is in a coma and has to fight his past selves but it was their spirits in a dream realm. So Saban producers, if I had to do it, I would just choose one suit for Tommy. What I was thinking is that Tommy can call upon the powers of his other forms. Or they can say they got Tommys from other timelines or friends in place. My guess is that Toei will just have those five Rangers and then the Saban writers have to come up with excuses for it.

Easy to Use
The following Ranger suits you can't use without a explanation and then there will be fan complaints....

ドラゴンレンジャー (Dragonranger) = グリーンレンジャー (Green Ranger)
キバレンジャー (Kibaranger) = ホワイトレンジャー (White Ranger)
オーレッド (Oh Red) = レッドジオレンジャー5 (Zeo Ranger V)
アバレブラック (AbareBlack) = ブラックレンジャー (Black Dino Ranger)

Toei shooting footage for Power Rangers and Visa Versa

UPDATED 10/16/16 6PM EST
'Zyu 2'
What fans refer to 'Zyuranger 2' (pronounced as Juu-Ranger) was footage made by Toei for Saban Entertainment and it was used for Season 1 and Season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. New animal-themed monsters were made by Rainbow productions and they were also used in American footage to film with the American actors. Concepts like Green's relationship with Pink and Blue Ranger's intelligence were incorporated in the footage. Stuff that never happened in Zyuranger was putty patrollers becoming mutant rangers, Black Ranger getting the shield and the Megazord underwater.

Magiranger
Disney shot footage for the opening of Magiranger in New Zealand in 2005 back when they were shooting SPD. My inside source (which no longer in contact with) told me they shot footage for the episodes but I've seen every ep of Magiranger and nothing matches the trees or locals of New Zealand.

 Gekiranger
Disney shot footage for the opening of Gekiranger in New Zealand in 2007 when they were shooting Operation Overdrive. They only shot the main three Gekiranger and they only shot for the opening theme. The reason for shooting in New Zealand might be fancy scenery that Japan doesn't have.

Did not happen: (Toei did not film any new footage for them, Saban did but missed a lot of Rangers)
Power Rangers 20th Anniversary 'Legend War'
Word is from Hyper Hobby magazine interview that Toei will be shooting the Legend War special footage for the Power Rangers 20th Anniversary and with less Rangers (cutting out pre-Zyuranger teams). And hopefully adding some non-sentai Rangers like Titanium Ranger, Phantom Ranger and the Spirit Rangers. I doubt the Phantom Ranger will be remembered but we'll see. Because so many writers have worked under Power Rangers and they are not all aware of all the characters and some just forget. A reader did bring up a good point that Phantom Ranger can take the place of AkaRed, since AkaRed has the 30th logo on his chest and they would have to reshot footage but anyway he has so very little footage. Phantom Ranger was rumored to be the spirit of past rangers so this could work. I doubt Haim Saban can name them all on the top of his head.
