Queer Eye for Go-busters!

I haven't done one of these in a long time. Go-busters! I like the designs but I admit when I first saw it, I thought it was a bit striking. It took me a while to realize what everyone else was saying that they look like they are wearing winter jackets. That is because I first saw the pictures at 5am when I woke up and then went to work and din't have a good look at them until the afternoon. They have a spy theme and it said that it might be for the James Bond 50th anniversary. But many James Bond fans say the suits don't remind them of James Bond, but there isn't much you can do with colorful suits. Other people are complaining that they are using the animals as an excuse or staple, but honestly do we want other generic-looking helmets like Boukenger? The three do remind me of Gekiranger in the visor shapes and blue being male and yellow being female. But the animal designs aren't too overt.

Things I like:
  • The ranger-color visors, it is the second time it has been done, first being Timeranger.
  • The silver 'strap' design on the sides of the helmets.
  • I like how the 'jacket' covers the pants too and extends for a skirt for Yellow. It reminds of how Shinkenger and Gokaiger have extruding color into the black pants for the males.
  • I love the bunny design on the yellow helmet.
  • I like the black straps on the arms and the device pouch, it is cute.
  • I like the brace on the arms and the single cuff that runs close to the hand like Dekaranger and Gokaiger.
Things I Don't Like:
  • The animal faces of Blue and Red. It is kinda looks boring and reminds too much of past Red and Blues.
  • I don't like the black cuffs on the boots, reminds me too much of Go-Onger.
  • Even though I like silver, I don't like it on the sides of the torso. I also don't like the black legs, it all doesn't coordinate right. It seems too busy on top and less on the bottom. I like it more even. It would had been more interesting with thin silver lines on the torso and thick silver lines on the legs like on Go-On Wings.
  • I don't like the big silver mouthpieces. I like it if it was smaller and more discreet. But I understand why it has no mouth, to go with the spy theme.
Quick Critique of the Buddy Roids:
  • At first, I wasn't crazy about the Red Cheetah guy Chida Niku. It is obvious he turns into a motorcycle with the handle bars on his head. They are definitely going the BOA route of having cyles combine in some way to the zords. But it looks like only his head will combine with the car to make the zord. For me, he looks too much like a Metal Hero version of Red, too close to Red, while the other Buddy Roids don't look too much like their humans.
  • When Dukemon22 said Usada Letas would look like Bomper, I didn't know for real, I thought he'd be a bit taller. At least he doesn't look like that pink robot from Robotack or whatever.
  • Gorisaki Banana is alright, he reminds me of a more stream-lined robotic Ginga Gorilla from Gingaman. He is a bit broad-chested and bulky, but I am happy he is not too bulky.
The Final Word:
The suits definitely give more room to having new Rangers and add-on stuff.

MMPR Costume Designs: Show Vs Movie

I realize I do alot of posts on MMPR: The Movie and here is another. Anyway, I never saw anything like this comparing the costumes of Power Rangers from the show and the movie. For the Rangers, Rita and Goldar, I compare the original Zyuranger.
Zordon
A big upgrade, we can see his lips move in sync with what he is saying! Obviously for the show, they blurred his mouth so they could make him say anything and match with how Rita's mouth didn't match what she said. In the movie, it was a new actor and instead of being aqua, he was white. And the effect was pretty good.

Alpha 5
Same voice actor, different suit actress. He was slightly taller, way shiner bulkier helmet with a bubble over his eye visor. His shoulder pads were skinnier and body was boxier with darker lightning bolt on chest. His arms were a darker grittier blue. His glove fingers were more segmented.

Lord Zedd
The silver things around him were boxier, while the original was rounder. Correct me if I wrong but the tube veins are missing. His silver is shiner and his brain is more red than pink. His 'smile' is also more crooked.

Rita Repulsa
Her movie outfit was more similar to the show version because the brown is the same shade as the show one and the neck dress is simpler than the Zyuranger version. The blue things were thicker and pointier in the original. Also the breast plate... it was more put together and black, in the movie you can see the brown. Also, I can't find a picture of this but I swear seeing the TV Guide picture of movie Rita, that she had car seat straps on her breast plate. But since she barely had any screen time, I don't blame them for not working that hard on her outfit.

Goldar
I don't know how to describe the change, they look similar but different. His chest is rounder and simpler, the original version was more detailed. His original shoulder pads had 3 chambers, int he movie it was one part. His face was closer to the American version. The original looked like a dog but the movie version looked like a fatter piece of rock. His horns were rounded and more arc. His wings were triangular.

Red Ranger
I am probably going to say more here, it is the same for Blue and Black, because it is a uniform. There was one diamond in the front versus have a diamond and two triangles since they were to look like teeth. The back had two diamonds, which I didn't like because many people mistake them for diamonds but they were to be teeth. The gloves and boots have ranger-colored arcs. The black buckles of the Power Morphers are ranger-colored in the movie. Their hostlers were ranger colored and black trim versus the original white with red trim. Obviously they had Ranger coins on their chests, here changing from Tyrannosaurus to Ape. The Tyrannosaurus symbol was slightly different from the Zyuranger version. As for the helmet, the mouth piece was boxier, the mouth bottom was more arced and the design was similar but widen.

Pink Ranger
Instead of skirts, Pink just had boobs in the armor. The back did look like she had a skirt but it was a flap. I didn't personally like Pink's helmet, I didn't like the arced wing on the face and the protruding Pterdatyl head. The original had a pink stripe in the back, here it was more white. This helmet design, along with Blue was my least favorite. Her chest had one diamond in the front versus have a diamond and two triangle. The back had two diamonds, the gloves and boots have ranger-colored arcs. The black buckles of the Power Morphers are ranger-colored. Their hostlers were ranger colored and black trim versus the original white with red trim. Her chest coin went from Pterodactyl to Crane.

Blue Ranger
This helmet design, along with Pink was my least favorite. The Triceratops mouth was thinner and more triangular, the horns popped out more and the visor was more narrow. His chest had one diamond in the front versus have a diamond and two triangle. The back had two diamonds, the gloves and boots have ranger-colored arcs. The black buckles of the Power Morphers are ranger-colored. Their hostlers were ranger colored and black trim versus the original white with red trim. His chest coin went from Triceratops to Wolf. We never saw them use the Blade Blasters but they were Ranger-colored.

Black Ranger
To me, the helmet design looks very similar except for the widen-ness and the bigger mouth plate than the original. His chest had one diamond in the front versus have a diamond and two triangle. The back had two diamonds, the gloves and boots have ranger-colored arcs. The black buckles of the Power Morphers are ranger-colored. Their hostlers were ranger colored and black trim versus the original white with red trim. His chest coin went from Mammoth (I mean Mastodon) to Frog. Originally the belts had a ranger-color stripe top and bottom, they probably thought it was over-kill and nixed it.

Yellow Ranger
Her chest had one diamond in the front versus have a diamond and two triangle, also her breasts were part of the armor with three lines on each side under the boob. The back had two diamonds, the gloves and boots have ranger-colored arcs. The black buckles of the Power Morphers are ranger-colored. Their hostlers were ranger colored and black trim versus the original white with red trim. Her chest coin went from Saber-Tooth Tiger to Bear. I like her helmet design and especially the eye lights. The snout was flatter but more triangular and the eyes were wider. Everything was more protruded.

White Ranger
Instead of a gold belt, he had a white belt. Instead of the Dairanger buckle, he had a Power Morpher, with white buckle around it. His shield had two triangular parts under it, it was more arched, compared to the straight bottom of the original shield. While the original shield shoulder pads were arced and straight, this one was a straight angle. His back shield was also arced on the bottom. He had the same cuffs as he did in the original. Instead of Ranger-colored designs on his boots and wrists, he had gold. The black parts on the top were wider and bigger. His white tiger eyes were more narrow and 'evil' looking. His mouth piece was more boxier. I like the choices but I wish they went with the gold belt because withe the white, I feel it washes the costume out. Also, they switched the Kibaranger tiger symbol for the Falcon.

Saba
It is hard to tell since he has such a brief and far away appearance. But it looks like his face is boxier. His gold is shiner and seem to have the same basic details, just his face looks more robotic and plastic-y. His snout also doesn't protrude as much as the original.

Queer Eye for Kamen Rider Nadeshiko

It is a long time since I have done a 'Queer Eye' outfit critique, mostly because no other costume has really peaked my interest to make a review. Let's start with the face, hers is similar to Fourze expect that the 'V' space antenna stretch out on the back looking like bunny ears or a girl's ribbons, I rather like the design. Her eyes look like Fourze but the whole face looks cute, like one of those cute little Anime of space girls. The belt looks straight on the front but looks like its at an angle on the back, I like when women's belts are sideways, harking back to Batgirl int he 60's Batman series. Her primary colors are cyan, silver and black, I think the black trims help the outfit from being bland. The cyan cuffs on the feet and the boot heels remind me of Kamen Rider Kivara. I like how the cyan front becomes a sailor back like a Japanese school girl, it is like a trick, you don't expect it. It might remind some people of Sailor Moon, but the reason she has that is because she is a high school student. I like the pink collar, I wish they had used more pink, maybe a stripe around the cuffs or a piping on the legs. All in all, a great outfit, I would had wished her helmet was silver instead of white, to match the suit and not look too much like Fourze.

Kamen Rider Villain Grunts/Henchmen

UPDATED 9/5/10 6:20 PM EST
By request by Mr. Nurgle, here the footsoliders of Kamen Rider villains. I didn't know Kamen Rider had many grunts. The pictures with the fingernails on them are from this Japanese site.

Shocker Soldiers (KR)
Black uniformed grunts, some which have skeleton markings on their torsos. They are normally easily defeated by the Riders, often without even needing to transform. By the human skin, they had to be human.

These are the other Shocker Soldiers, I don't know their names if they had any. I like the red and black ones.

These were early Shocker Soliders, in which you could see their human faces.

Gei-Shocker Soldiers (Kamen Rider)
I kept seeing these guys but didn't know their names. About the Delza goons and Gel-Shocker soldiers, I have no idea because I haven't seen the series and I am not familiar with much of them. But since the Wikipedia of Gei-Shocker didn't mention it, I had no idea.

Destron Soldiers (V3)
They wear identical black, masked uniforms with a white scorpion design. They serve whoever is in charge. Doktor G's Soldiers wield knives, Baron Fang's had fang-shaped weapons, and Archbishop Wing's wore robes similar when not in combat. There were also Destron Racer Hell Corps, Destron Ranger Corps, Destron Motorcycle Corps, Destron Lady Soldiers, Destron Scientists and Great Leader of Destron's Bodyguards.

Destron Scientists (V3)
The scientists who are loyal to Destron. They appear similar to Destron soldiers, but their masks and uniforms are white, with red print and white lab coats over their uniforms. They are rarely found outside of a Destron base.

G.O.D. Warfare Agents
(KR X)
Warriors who serve as foot soldiers for the Government of Darkness. Not only do they carry spears, they also wield pistols and machine guns and crossbows. They wore black, red belt, gloves, and boots. The back of their capes were black and inside red, with high collars.

Akajusha (Amazon)
Geddon's female foot soldiers, serving as his eyes and ears. Their names meant Red Followers. They wore red jumpsuits with v-shape collars with white fringe trim and white masks.

Kurojusha (Amazon)
The Garanda Empire's foot soldiers. Their name means Black Follower, they wore black with long fringe trim white cape. They had like white goggles.

Black Satan Soldiers (Stronger)
Black owl footsoldiers of Black Satan. Scientists wear the white gown.

Delza Soliders (Stronger)
Apparently they wore different masks depending on the villain in charge but I am not crazy about the black outfits. And judging on my belts, the numbers changes as well, not sure.

Ari Commands (Sky-Rider)
Ant-like common footsoldiers in black of Neo-Shocker organization. I think these are pretty plain.

Skull Assassination Squad (Sky-rider)
Skull-masked footsoldiers of the Neo-Shocker organization under the Great Boss who wield swords and crossbows. These remind me of the Skelanimals or those Skull grunts in Zyuranger.

Dogma Fighters and Dogma Bodyguarders (Super-1)
The Dogma FIghters were The Dogma Kingdom's foot soldiers. They were all red, with black boots and gloves. Scientists wear the white gowns. The bodyguards were in charge of Terror Macro and were higher ranks than General Megirl. The Bodyguarders wore all grey with red helmet, gloves, boots and cape.

Jin Dogma Fighters and Jin Dogma Bodyguards (Super-1)

There were also the Jin Dogma fighters, have a silver mask and silver lines, and bodyguards have a golden mask and golden lines.

Chaps (Black RX)
As I have mentioned before, THESE DID APPEAR in Saban's Masked Rider but they primarily used their own grunts called the Maggots These had white hockey-like masks, white gloves, belts and boots They wore grey, dark green and a pale brown color.

Riot Troopers (555)
Used as mass minions in the 555 movie: Paradise Lost.

Worms (Kabuto)
Generic Worms, The second Worm species, aren't given a specific name. Worms have the ability to molt, revealing a stronger form. They also have the ability to revert back into a

New Mole Imagin (Den-O)
Among the bulk of the massive Imagin army Kai creates for the purpose of destroying Airi are the New Mole Imagin. These Imagin sport black vests, as opposed to the red vests the regular wear, and are armed with numerous other weapons for hands.

Masquerade Dopants (Double)
Funny enough I couldn't find these on Wiki after someone commented on it and couldn't find it in Japanese either until I did a search in English and found this picture. They ahd black masks with a white symbol, somewhat similar to the original Kamen Rider grunts but with black jackets and dress pants with white shirts underneath.

Gelnewts and Sheerghosts (Dragon Knight)
Even though there were no minions in Ryuki, the Gelnewts and Sheerghosts became minions in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. The Sheerghosts were sort of minions in the Ryuki: Episode Final movie. The Gelnewts were also used as minions by the Oni Brothers in Decade.

Review of all the Grunts/Henchmen

UPDATED 4/17/14 7PM EST
Most commonly known as the public as 'putties,' because the first grunts from Power Rangers were the putties, I refer to them as it as grunts or footsoldiers. I have covered before which foot-soldiers were original creations for Power Rangers, but here I cover the Super Sentai ones, all of them. They always wear the same uniform, sometimes an alternate color and always have their face covered and carry knives or swords or guns.

Zolders (Gorangers)
They wore black with seems to be giant buckles of Black Cross Army and buttons on their torso. The faces were black hoods with what seems to be goggles. They were brainwashed henchmen, altered with enhanced strength and speed. They were also specialized when needed. For the first grunts ever, I give them points for the tops being a bit elaborate, not bad to start with.

Crimers (JAKQ)
Black goons as well, but these seem to have stylized eyes and the mask seemed to be out of leather. They wore these strange long-sleeved grey v-shaped vests that ended on the tummies. Also the rest was black with light black boots and giant buckles. They were armed with guns. Even tough I like shirts that end at the tummy, I am not sure about the long sleeves or the v-shape. I believe they were human.

Cutmen (Battle Fever J)
They were armed with machine guns and were in light grey outfits with a black stripe, dark grey gloves and boots and their masks were a mix of grey and black. Come to think of it, they look a bit like the Golem (Putties), except they are not clay. They most likely were meant to be humans under costumes. To me, they look like they are in pajamas.

Dastlers (Denjiman)
Grunts in black tights with skeletal designs that armed with sickles. They had black and white mix masks. It was not clear if they were meant to be humans or not, I think I would like the masks more if they looked like skulls.

Machine Men (Sun Vulcan)
They had the Black Magma symbol on their masks, which I like but they are a bit like Luchador (wrestler) masks. I do not know how the rest of their costumes looked like.

Madaraman (Goggle Five)
They had a camouflage look throughout with green gloves and boots with circle buckles and machine guns. These were androids. I don't know about this but they might be the first not to be humans and the first to be robots.

Tail Soldiers (Dynaman)
Naked lizards with red eyes and green and black skin, tail and red belt and sword. I don't know about this but they might be the first to be animal and not a robot or human. Their sword was unique as it was yellow and not the color of their skin. They were called Reptiles That Go "Whee!" in the parody.

Mechaclone (Bioman)
Like the first few henchmen, these guys wore black. But with red belts and silver masks with red eyes. . They can be programmed to pilot Mecha Drones or act as laboratory assistants. They were probably the third or second robot henchmen.

Hidrer (Changeman)
They wereblue creatures with yellow hair came out of eggs. I don't care for the waists and the color mix of yellow and blue is not appealing. If wounded enough, a Hidrer would bleed steam before evaporating within seconds. They used their talons as weapons.

Zorors (Flashmen)
These red ant-like grunts had green eyes and red skin. Their beetle-like clawed mouths spray acidic strings which cause victims to dissolve. The green round crystal displayed in the chests of each one is a prosthetic heart that sustains their lifeforce. I like their designs. I don't know how the Flashmen didn't confuse them with Flash Red.

Unglers (Maskman)
They were in all black with what seemed to be mops on thier heads. They carried staffs.

Jinmers (Liveman)
In olive-green suits, black boots and green gloves with masks and weapons. Mazenda later develop a variants of Jinmers called Dummymen that can assume human forms. In episode 13, a Dummyman who calls himself Tanaka defects from Volt and assists the Livemen after he falls in love with Colon before sacrificing himself to save her. They weren't as green as Green Sai so they couldn't be that confused.

Wu-lar (Turboranger)
The Wu-Lar were creatures with hair and creepy faces, black suits, white togas and white gloves. Their captains were different as they had brownish-red suits with yellow togas.

Batzlers (Fiveman)
They wore all black but had claws and weird faces.

Grinamhei (Jetman)
An unique brand, with black suits but a yellowish design on the chest, red hands and Kamen Rider Buckle-esque buckles.

Golem Hei (Zyuranger)
They were made of clay and there were the special cpatain kinds that were much darker and more rocky in appearance. And then they made some out of super clay, but didn't look much different. They were all grey and had red eyes.

Cotopotros (Dairanger)
They were all black (yet again), with white gloves and a tuxedo-link ascot and masks with no eyes, just red lips. Bascially they looked like waiters, they would dress in different things like baseball players, army men, etc. In the Gorma Palace, they dressed in red. I thought these were easy to make, but when I filmed a Dairanger fan film, it is difficult in some ways.

Dorodoros (Kakuranger)
Dress all in blue with black belts, gloves and boots. They had ghost-like twisted faces and those same things practically all over their bodies. They were demons. I like the color but they reminded too much of cereal marshmallows floating in blue milk. They were almost the same color as Ninja Blue, so I don't know how the Kakuranger didn't get confused.

Barmei Hei (Ohranger)
Robots in all silver or bronze-like bodysuits and big gold robot heads. I wasn't found of the color of the suits, reminded me too much of something that was too wet.

Whumpers
Dressed in three distinct colors (pink, cyan, light green, and white), they wore purple gloves and boots, they had purple things on their shoulders and waists, they wielded weapons. They had like gasmasks on, they were probably aliens instead of robots. The white ones were barely seen and was often the butt of a joke. The white ones weren't seen in Power Rangers.

Kunekunes (Megaranger)
Purple creatures with yellow stripes, white gloves and boots, with twisted swords and gold stripe on their faces. They had a Boss Kunekune who helped them become a big monster made of Kunekunes.

Yaatotto (Gingaman)
They wore orange jumpsuits, brown gloves and boots with shorts and a strap. They had swords and hankerchiefs on their heads. Not sure if they are supposed to be human, aliens or what.

Imps (GoGoV)
The demon grunts in black with some red and bat heads and armed with short swords. Dinus (Vypra) had her own female corp that had short grey boots and red skirts. They had silver wings and breast plates like Dinus. Pierre revived them as one giant Imp that then divided and became three. These three were killed by Max Victory Robo.

Zenith (Timeranger)
Out of a couple of metal things, came these robots with complex gold heads and bronze-like suits. Their swords doubled as machine guns. I like the design of the heads.

Orgettes (Gaoranger)
It is hard to discribe what color they are, it's somewhere between Touqurise and grey, I like their colors. They had one horn, as all the Orgs had horns. They had these club staffs that also function as flamethrowers. In Gaoranger Vs. Gaoranger, they got gold horns. They were created out of pink slime by Tsuetsue.

These red Orgettes appeared in a flashback, they had no names, I personally believe they were what inspired Bandai or Plex to make the Kelzak Furies for Power Rangers Ninja Storm.

Magerapa (Hurricanger)
They were in black, but had what looked like barbwire or stiches around them. They had the red Jakanja symbol on their faces. They were armed with sickles. They had black hair poof coming out of their head.

Barmia Hei (Abaranger)
They came in two colors, they had one eye and these wierd staff things. In black, they had a green, yellow, orange motif. The white ones had blue, purple and pink colors.

Anaroid
Robots with silver arm cuff, leg cuff and belt with silver heads with black hole. Even though they were in black, I found these to be pretty good looking. Balls were thrown to make these.

Batsuroid (Dekaranger)
Able to speak human languages (including Japanese). They sometimes use swords which are really re-colored versions of the Spark Vectors used by the Mirai Sentai Timeranger. These had blue and had the word 'bat' in them but they look more like an X on their helmet.

Igaroid (Dekaranger)
They had silver and orange and orange armor with long nails and a sword. They had spiky orange heads as well. I am not fond of the shade of orange but I do like the heads.

Zobiru (Magiranger)
I like these because they are more complex, they had brown suits with rags on their waists and grey gloves and boots. They had these frog-like faces that would peel away to reveal ugly skull faces. They wielded special axes. They were based on Zombies.

High Zobiru (Magiranger)
I like these because they are more complex, they had teal muscled bodies with brown ties on their necks and brown kilts around their waists with these silver armor thingies. Their faces had silver stuff all of it with red eyes. They wielded whips.

Kaths (Boukenger)
When rocks were thrown, these guys appeared. They were all in grey, with armor. They had little torches in their faces, which were not acknowledged in Operaiton Overdrive when they became Chillers. They belonged to Gaja but the other sects of Negative Syndicate had the rocks to have the Karths fight for them.

Ryuujinhei Jaryuu (Boukenger)
Orange body with red and scarlet armor, lizard faces. They have an interesting design.

Rinshi (Gekiranger)
They were undead, they had long brown vests with black long-sleeve clothes underneath and brown cuffs. They had brown hats over their white mask-like faces. In one episode, one Rinshi who could not become a Rinrinshi with animal spirit, he took knight armor and fought SaiDaiOh (Rhino Steel Megazord).

Rinrinshi (Gekiranger)
Rinshi power up and turn into Rinrinshi, the shoulder colors change and the animal part on the head changed.

Ugatz (Go-Onger)

Silver bodysuits with bronze armor, gloves and boots. They wielded screw-like swords. They had special female Ugatz (Beauty Ugatz) in one episode with white skirts, they looked a bit strange.

Nanashi Company (Shinkenger)
Red fish heads, yellow sleeves and pants with armor, brown boots and gloves with swords. They had the most complex look out of all the grunts, highly stylized.

Bibi (Goseiger)
Lime-green suits with black boots and gloves and chest armor with designs on their faces. They wielded knives. I like their colors and the design of the boots. I liked their simple design.

Gormin (Gokaiger)
Silver with different shades of gray, basic robotic grunts. The black patterns are interesting. Now that they are X-Borgs in Power Rangers Super Megaforce, seeing the figure, how the silver paint spills into the face, makes me think the pattern on the face is to close together.

Zugormin (Gokaiger)
The higher up and stronger grunts with blue over black is interesting but they seem to fade into the background blue skies for me.

Buglers (Go-Busters)
Robots but had purple bodies and black top armor and silver heads. I liked the shade of purple.

Zorima (Kyoryuger)
These creatures are hard to describe, they have white and black and silver bodies with green and tan heads with green hair. They hold saw like devices. I am not fond of these at all. I don't like their look. I fear when they come to US with Power Rangers Dino Charge.

Close (Toqger)
They are robber-themed footsoliders with collars and hats. I love the smiles and stylized hair.
