Thanksgiving Parade Red Ranger Balloon

Today was the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Since 2010, Power Rangers have been a part of it. In 2010, the Samurai Power Rangers went along with a globe balloon. In 2011, they did a show and fought Moogers. In 2012, 20 Red Rangers did a show (kicking and flipping) with the Megaforce Rangers. In 2013, Super Megaforce and Mighty Morphin did a show (kicking and flipping). In 2014 and now 2015, the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger balloon went with the parade.

Power Rangers Balloons at Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2015

For the first time ever Saban's Power Rangers participated in the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. As one of the largest balloon festivals in the world, an estimated 500,000 spectators were in attendance and watching as more than 100 hot air balloons took to the skies during the four-day celebration. Saban’s Power Rangers debuted two brand-new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers balloons at the festival’s Night Glow event on Thursday evening. As the only brand with two balloons featured in the event, the Power Rangers balloons were designed in the likeness of the iconic Red and Pink Mighty Morphin Power Rangers helmets. Visitors of the festival were also able to watch the Power Rangers balloon teams prep, inflate, launch and land the POWERED UP balloons throughout the remaining three days of the event.

“The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a weekend of non-stop family fun, which is a perfect fit for Saban’s Power Rangers brand,” said Gustavo Antonioni, Managing Director, Consumer Products EMEA at Saban Brands. “TheMighty Morphin Power Rangers are a pop-culture phenomenon and fans of all ages loved seeing the larger-than-life Red and Pink Ranger balloons flying high in the sky.”

This occurred August 7th (my birthday) to the 9th, 2015.

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge at Licensing Fair

I sent the above and bottom image from Saban Brands via Power Force on the second season.

Following images from Rangercrew at the 2015 Licensing Fair
The promo stuff for the movie had a generic logo (above). The promo for Dino Charge incorrectly has the Graphite Ranger as Silver Ranger.

No new toys but they have the Fisher Price Imaginext and Bandai toys, also Popples which Saban Brands owns. Also new merch like Dino Charge backpacks and water bottles. Also Mighty Morphin Glasses. Also a Green Ranger Shot Glass with shield (previous shot glasses had no shield).

The Rangers in public were Pink and Red Mighty Morphin and an X-Borg.

By the way, one of the SDCC exclusives is a tokyo vinyl White Ranger.

Power Morphicon 4: Make a Wish Charity Event

5 kids thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation dressed as Power Rangers 'fought' alongside the six Super Megaforce Rangers against Argus and X-Borgs Saturday Morning August 23rd, 2014. Also there was host Alex Heartman (Jayden/Power Rangers Samurai) and Matt Mullins (Len/Kamen Rider Dragon Knight). Paper crown hats looking like Red Supermegaforce and Pink Supermegaforce Rangers (like Burger King crowns) were given out as well to kids and guests.
Picture from:

I look mad but I was tired. It was a thrill to meet Matt Mullins, he was only there for a little bit. He actually was helping with the rehearsal of the Power Rangers Super Megaforce suit actors when doing a Make-A-Wish event at 8:45am at Power Morphicon. He had glasses on, he says he was in Clark Kent mode. They had 6 rangers, a couple X-Borgs (both colors) and Argus (Barizorg from Gokaiger). Argus looked so awesome but I couldn't take pics because they told me no. It was a surprise for the Make A Wish kids. And I didn't take pics of the event because I was in line for the Ranger Keys.

Differences in Power Rangers and Super Sentai Costumes (Show and Live Performances)

I've covered this before and I have no confirmations on this but these are pretty obvious and visible differences. I am covering the Super Sentai stageshow costumes and live performance costumes of the Power Rangers used in public appearances at malls, Disney World (2005-2010), Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and international mall appearances.

 Super Sentai Show
 Power Rangers Show
 Super Sentai Stageshows
PR Public Appearances (Domestic and International)
 Helmet without and with latches
Helmet without and with latches
 Helmet latches
 Helmet latches
 Helmet with solid visor
 Helmet with solid visor
Helmet with/without small holes in visor
Helmet with small holes in visor
 Suit shiner and tigher
Suit looser, larger for taller people and 2-ply
 Suits like show, sometimes lowgrade
Suits not as loose but a bit tighter, sometimes shiny
 Sophisticated adult size props
Cheap cardboard props to sophisticated to toys
 Sophisticated to lowgrade props
 Sophisticated props for most part
Detailed and nothing out of place
 Sometimes misplaced prop, wrong details
 Sometimes minimized details
 Sometimes without weapons

The Dragonranger's shield was tight and foam-like or a stronger material while the shield used in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from seasons one to two (new footage in the US), the shield was cotton and thin and had more movement. In Dino Thunder, Disney asked a new company to make the shield and suit. This introduced the silver stripe on the helmet and silver morpher which Saban inherited and have used for photo ops for the MMPR Box Set pictures, Monopoly and the "Legendary Battle" episode of Super Megaforce.

In MMPR American footage, we saw the helmets that split into two (front and back) and had latches. Most helmets are like this. Some Stuntmen ones don't have that. Above image is 'Zyu2', the Toei footage that they shot for MMPR. This shows both forms. We don't always see the latches because they used those stunt ones, which can extremely hot.

Even though shiny, not as shiny as the Sentai costumes, you can tell the color is a bit duller. In Operation Overdrive Behind the Scenes special (not the PROO episode of the same name), the costume designer revealed the costumes were two ply. Not sure if spandex so that's why I don't have it in the chart.

In the earlier days pink varied shades and you can tell the suits are looser.

Here is a good comparison. Here is the Japanese footage. This is Gokaiger, the suits are tighter and shinier. This is from Episode 2 of Gokaiger.
This is Power Rangers Super Megaforce footage shot in New Zealand, the suits look a duller color and it is not the lighting. You can obviously see the change in costume material. This is from Super Megaforce episode one.

Public appearance helmets have tiny holes on the visors for people to breath. The actors are not stunt people and don't put up with the heat so they get more air. These kind of helmets were used at Disney World and now at public appearances by Saban like Toy Fair, Licensing Expo, Comic Cons and Thanksgiving Parade.

These type of helmets also used for public events at malls, etc. Internationally.

In 1992, Zyuranger stageshows, holes in helmets and cuffs are different. Also the buckles were of cheaper quality. Some stageshow helmets in Japan don't have holes.
