Cosmic Fury: New Photos Confirming Fern as Orange Ranger

This Netflix Life Article (https://netflixlife.com/2023/08/23/power-rangers-cosmic-fury-release-updates-and-everything-we-know-so-far/) has these exclusive photos showing Fern in the Morphing Pose and has her listed as the Orange Ranger.  

Also Simon Bennett posted this Behind the Scenes shot of Aiyon in a cockpit of what looks to be the cyan-colored grizzly Zord.

Here is a comparison of the Bear symbol from Kyuranger and the symbol on the Grizzly Zord cockpit for comparison.

Lavender Ranger's Editorial: Opinions on Joseph Kahn's Power/Rangers

 

Recently Joseph Kahn (music video director behind clips like Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" as well as videos for Britney Spears, U2 and others) and Adi Shankar ("The Grey" and "Dredd") released this gritty 12-minute short called Power/Rangers based on the show and starring Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galatica) as a blonde Kimberly and James Van Der Beek (Doesn't Trust that B--- in Apt 23) as a Rocky who has turned over to the side of the Machine Empire from Zeo. The short uses a lot of events and characters from Mighty Morphin and Zeo like Rita, Tommy, Trini, Jason, Skull, Billy, and Zack.

 

In this story, Zack does Hip Hop Kiddo, there is a character named Skull who becomes a real gangster, Kim marries Jason, Trini died (like in real life), Billy is gay (like in real life), and Tommy is pointed to be an enemy. Also, Rocky has a robotic leg, Steven Cardenas injured his leg in real life. I am not crazy about the outfits nor helmets, but it is understandable they have to be different. Other than the great acting and star power from Katee and James, the special effects and tone bothers me. I feel like it is a mix of the complicated robots and rapid action from Michael Bay's Transformers, the Mortal Kombat movies and the bloodiness and tackiness of Robert Rodriguez films. I didn't like the amount of blood nor cursing. They did a good job but Power Rangers and any Tokusatsu has a very thin line of tone.

 

 Power Rangers RPM did show that Power Rangers can be dark and serious but it balanced comedy. Fan don't want to admit that Power Rangers can be campy, I like camp and I think Power Rangers can be campy and it's okay. I think you have to find a balance. Not go too gritty but you can be serious, as long as you acknowledge the campiness, silliness and comedy. Be tongue in cheek but clever, not just self-referential for the sake of being self-referential like Ninja Storm ("Another quarry?"). Also don't be too tacky. Anyways, it is hard to explain. Also, Saban has pulled the video off Vimeo and might get it off YouTube. Joseph Kahn doesn't like it, as he is not getting any profits. But Saban has powerful lawyers. That's all I have to say. So I hope the new writers for the new Power Rangers take note of this film and the tone.



Razzle's Power Rangers Megaforce Locations

Raz (@Razzle1337) has painstaking found the locations in Auckland, New Zealand that Megaforce has shot in. They seem to be unique in that they were not used in Samurai and Super Samurai. He used Google Maps.

We got 6 teams of 5 (RPM, SPD, Wild Force, Mystic Force, PROO and Aquitar) out of the 17 teams. 5 teams of 3 (Samurai, NS, JF, PRLR, and PRiS), 2 teams of 2 (MMPR, and TF), and 4 teams of 4 (Lost Galaxy, Dino Thunder, Zeo, Turbo). Now MF and JF could be teams of 3. According to the preview of Jason David Frank's "My Morphin' Life", he says the script says there are other groups of Rangers that appear. JDF called it the 'Mega War,' in it will in the last episode of Super Megaforce.

Also what has me concerned is that select Rangers are there, there are significant members of MMPR (5 members missing), Lost Galaxy (Yellow and Blue), Lightspeed (Yellow, Green and Blue), Time Force (non Red Rangers), Wild Force (Silver), Ninja Storm (Crimson, Navy and Green), and Jungle Fury (Violet and White) that are missing. We have around 70 or so Rangers at the set, it should be around 100.

This was already shot. This a shot I and other fans believe was made in New Zealand and not Japan. It has Samurai Red, Jungle Fury and Mystic Force Rangers that were not included in the shot with the veterans. SPD Green and Yellow are in it but maybe to connect the two groups. This shot is from Troy's dream in the first episode "Mega Mission" mixed in with Gokaiger footage.

Actor Sean Datar (https://twitter.com/sean_in_the_mix) was there and was told he would be Lightspeed Blue but ended up being RPM Ranger Blue. I asked him on Twitter and he says that all the teams were represented. I sent him a picture of Aquitar Rangers and asked him if he was there, he said yes. In the Nick Promo, the Aquitar Rangers are walking behind the RPM Rangers.
