Power Rangers/Super Sentai combo in Korea

 UPDATED 6/9/13 2:30 PM EST
In Korea, they combine Power Rangers with Super Sentai. They released the two American Power Rangers movies under the name Power Rangers. But lately they have released the Super Sentai movies under the name Power Rangers. Super Sentai series is released in Korea under the name Power Rangers. The toyline by Bandai Korea is a combination of Power Rangers toys and Super Sentai toys. I am not sure but I believe the toylines and series are released two years after the Super Sentai series.

Mr. Yellow and James Spiring helped me out MMPR to Wild Force of Power Rangers were dubbed in Korean. Then around 2005 or so, Abaranger to Go-Onger were dubbed under the Power Rangers title. Hurricanger was skipped, according to Mr. Yellow, probably because it was deemed 'too Japanese' and Koreans have problems with Japanese so maybe Shinkenger will be skipped as well.

Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue

They aired MMPR to Wild Force dubbed in Korean and then Abaranger to Go-Onger dubbed under the Power Ranger title, and now Gaoranger after Go-Onger.

Abaranger logo in Korea was a carbon-copy of the American Power Rangers Dino Thunder logo but the zords came in boxed like the Bandai Japan ones (like most of the Korea stuff).

For Dekaranger, they used the Power Rangers SPD logo, SPD stood for a combination of what it meant for Power Rangers and Dekaranger. Dekaranger was Special Police Dekaranger and SPD in Power Rangers was Space Patrol Delta, so in Korea it was Special Police Delta.
Magiranger called Power Rangers Magic Force and its logo looked more like the M insignia.

Boukenger was renamed Treasure Force in Korea.

In Korea, they had a Super Sentai-esque roadshow.

Gekiranger logo used and called called Wild Spirit. (I know, irony since Gaoranger was called Jungle Force instead of Gaoranger and Gekiranger was called Wild Spirit instead of Jungle Fury).

Go-Onger was released as Power Rangers Engine Force with the Go-Onger logo.

Just like in Japan, the Go-Onger vs. Gekiranger movie was released but as Power Rangers.

Power Rangers Jungle Force---which is Gaoranger dubbed in Korean.  On the official website from Bandai Korea of Power Rangers features Jungle Force (Gaoranger).

Okay, here is the main focal point of this post. Here we got Power Rangers Wild Force, renamed Jungle Force. But the toyline is a combination of the Bandai America Power Rangers toyline and the Bandai Japan Super Sentai toyline. Bandai Korea used a different background than Bandai America did, the logo is reminiscent of the Wild Force logo but with the Lion zord more prominent. Notice how the Yellow Ranger above is male because they are showing Gaoranger and in Gaoranger, the yellow ranger is male.

The Jungle Force (Wild Force) Pictures comes from this site.

  Power Rangers Miracle Force (2011)
Goseiger (2010) was not skip and became Miracle Force, embracing the Angel-motif unlike Power Rangers Megaforce.

Power Rangers Captain Force (2012)
For some odd reason, Gokaiger was called 'Captain Force' instead of Pirates. Maybe because they think the idea of Pirates is too barbaric for children. One thing is the name and the other is the visual. Shinkenger was shown in the series but given another name, Power Rangers Blade Force.

VR Troopers Preview in Power Rangers Fan Club

In the 1994 Power Rangers Fan Club video, there was a preview for VR Troopers and it was at the end of the inital video. You can find it online, I just don't want to embed it because it might disappear. Anyhoo, this is the first thing I saw myself of VR Troopers as I got the video. With the fanclub stuff, came a mini poster of VR Troopers (Pictured below). But I think my parents threw it away. In this video, we have the majority of what ended up on the show except for the logo above. I am glad they changed the logo, the one above looks a bit unreadable.

Professor Hart was a white man that looked like Einstein and looked Computer Generated but he was not. it was a live actor that was treated to look computerized. I was surprised when the show premiered to see Professor Hart changed to a black man. I think they did it for diversity. It was pretty good I think they changed it, because kids can't always think scientists are old white men like Einstein. In the preview, the red heading edges used when Alpha 5 looked at people in PR was used when the three heroes put on virtual visors. This was changed in the final first episode.

Mentors and Assistants

Zordon and Alpha 5
The first mentor and assistant we ever saw. In Zyuranger, it was just old magician Barza. No Robot.

Zordon, Billy and Alpha 5
Billy declined being a Ranger (sometimes begrudgingly) and worked as an adviser. Zordon and Alpha continued in their spots. Billy left to Aquitar with a lady love while David left the show after abuse.

Dimitria and Alpha 6
Alpha 5 got a new suit in the sequel movie and Alpha 6 came in it. But when the four Rangers were replaced, Alpha 5 was in his first costume. Alpha 6 had a hip-hop accent that drove fans crazy. Dimitria was Zordon's replacement and mostly asked questions and in the first half of Turbo, it was hinted she was Divatox's twin sister---as they were the same actress in the first half.

Alpha 6 and D.E.C.A.
For In Space, Alpha 6's voice changed thank god. D.E.C.A. was introduced. Zordon was in that season but not as much as before. I think the point of the season was to be sans mentor. Andros did serve a bit as a trainer but he was aloof and separate from the first half. Alpha 6 and D.E.C.A. were just assistants.

Captain Mitchell and Angela Fairweather
Mitchell was the mentor and Angela was the assistant. As humans, they got more involved in the Rangers' lives, it wasn't like they were stuck in the headquarters like Zordon and Alpha. Mitchell was Carter's childhood firefighter hero, his son Ryan was kidnapped by Diabolico, and he was a mentor, but he wasn't perfect. Angela was smart but beautiful and was Joel's object of affection and she slowly but surely fell for him.

Circuit
Robotic owl was the assistant, there was no real mentor that stayed. They did have Captain Logan but he would only be contacted from time to time for exposition and to say 'no.' He didn't really serve as a mentor.

Princess Shayla
She was their adviser, not really a big mentor. A little bit of a Damsel in Distress. She then turned out to be a fighter.

Sensei and Cam
Senseiw as the mentor, in the form of a hamster and Cam, the assistant--who later became Cyber Cam.

Tommy and Hayley
Tommy became the mentor and Hayley was the assistant. As mentioned before, Hayley came out of nowhere. Supposedly Tommy met her at school. He was the first Ranger to be a mentor.

Doggie Cruger and Kat
Doggie Cruger is a mentor and Ranger, he was also a boss. Tough and loud. Kat was an assistant that had an assistant, a tough scientist and technology expert and inventor. She became a Ranger once.

Udonna and Clare
Udonna was the mentor/ranger and Clare was her assistant. There were other allies that helped. But Udonna was the main mentor. Daggeron did come in when Udonna was occupied as mentor and trainer. Clare later became a full sorceress and was a temporary Gatekeeper, like her mother.

Andrew Hartford and Spencer
Andrew was a rash and petty millionaire and new father. Spencer was his nanny and assistant, helping the Rangers with moral advice, but dressed as a butler as he was a butler. They both kept the secret that Mac was an android. Andrew meant himself to be the Red Ranger.

R.J. and Fran
R.J. was a mentor/ranger when the first mentor Master Mao died. Fran was just a friend and employee of Jungle Karma Pizza but once she found out the Rangers' true identities, she became an assistant to them, letting them now when there was trouble and helping in whatever way she could. Both of them served as comic relief at times.

Dr. K and Colonel Mason Truman
In RPM, they worked in different sectors and for other avenues, other purposes. Both longed to be mentors, in a way. Dr. K was a genius scientist and inventor, she called herself the Rangers' mentor even though she is significantly younger than some of them. Mason wanted his son Scott to follow him.
