35th Anniversary Special

Dukemon says
Mail Magazine (an official by e-mail update newsletter) states that 1/22/11, the premiere date of Goseiger VS Shinkenger, a 35th Anniversary Special will air at 10:55 AM, and will cover all 35 Sentai, from "the 1st, Himitsu Sentai Goranger, to the latest, Kaizoku Sentai Go-kaiger."

For us in the United States, Saturday, the 22nd, 10:55 AM, would be Friday, 8:55 PM (East Coast), 7:55 PM (Central) and 5:45 PM (West Coast).

most likely it will be a half-hour long. The reason it is at '55', many channels in different counties (even Latin American ones) like to have the show early so people stayed tuned.

you can see episodes online live streaming the day they air. You can use KeyHoleTv that let's you see Japanese TV live, you just have download it and look for TV Asahi. I have a mac and there is a mac version.

Gokaiger Rumors: Skirts not only on Yellow Rangers

Rumors from Dukenon22. In the Gosei VS Shinken, when the Go-kaiger confront Shitari, he is able to witness their Double Henshin (which seems to be the term when a Goukaiger becomes another ranger's form) into other rangers. Upon seeing this, he declares their powers as "Kaizokuban", or "Pirated Edition/Bootleg". The line being "Kaizokuban ka!". When using Ranger Keys in battle, the symbol of the respective team appears, over the Mobirates, and then a "Double Henshin" occurs.

MOVIE RUMORS
In Goseiger VS Shinkenger, it is to feature all 5 Goukaiger turning into past RED rangers. It would seem that past rumors were a little off. Skirts will be added to past outfits for female rangers becoming male rangers. A female version of GekiRed (with a skirt) is to appear in the movie. This movie will feature Gekiranger, Magiranger, Go-onger, Dekaranger, and one other fleet. (GoukaiPink will be MagiRed and GoukaiYellow will be GekiRed).

Power Rangers Samurai snip-it in TV Guide

I have been subscribed to TV Guide since I was 9, that was 19 years ago. In the Jan. 10-16, 2011 issue, they have a small excerpt in the Winter Preview of Children's Programming highlight the Power Rangers.
It is a pretty generic snippet but at least it does acknowledge grown-up viewers like the show too. It does confirm it will be premiering February 7th at 8/7 central. Apparently the show will be in high definition, just like Super Sentai (Super Sentai has been in HD since Boukenger in 2006, those seasons that were adapted would cut much of the footage out to adhere to old 4:3 video ratio). It also has the same quote from Elie Dekel we have been seeing online lately.

TV Guide was at first kind to Power Rangers, defending charges that it was too violent back in 1993. They were the first magazine to clarify why Yellow Ranger had no skirt. Back when, they highlighted Tommy loosing his powers and becoming the White Rangers as one of the best plot twists of 1994 (I don't have picture, sorry). But, later on they did reviews for Turbo and Lost Galaxy, with not as much enthusiasm. I remember them calling Lost Galaxy's music 'trying to be like Star Trek.'

Toei's 'Super' Cutting Budget

THIS IS JUST AN OBSERVATION, MY OWN OPINIONS
There has been some rumblings over the last few years that Toei had to use a smaller budget in some seasons in order to accommodate or save up for other seasons, mainly the 35th anniversary. Toei rarely reuses props, like Power Rangers does, I covered some that they did. Toei does have enough money for their series, hell, each series is 49 to 51 episodes.

The first time they reused monsters ever was in the Boukenger movie. But here are some other suspicions they are trying to save money:

For one, every season tends to have one human actress for the villains, there used to be 2 men and 2 women back when (Before Jetman) but now mostly all the villains are costumed. But in this past decade, there was 1 human villainess (Gekiranger is the only to have one human male). But in Shinkenger, the villainess was costumed.

The voice actress for Dayu did guest star in a couple episodes as Dayu's human self in flashbacks. I suppose it would be too much money to hire a full time actress.

Goseiger didn't have a main villainess, there was only Metal Alice, who lasted a handful of episodes, granted more episodes than Succubus of Dekaranger. They probably paid the voice actress less than the one for Dayu.

Also Goseiger only has 5 main actors playing Rangers. Gosei Knight has no human actor, just a voice actor, so probably saving money there too. It looks like Bandai might have meant him to be human, what with the Leon Cellular, it could have been used for a morpher. Other instances of saving mone but having no live actor would be Shurikenger of Hurricanger, AbareMax/Triassic Ranger being a power-up and Sam in SPD.

Also, I noticed that the headquarters of the teams since Gekiranger have been pretty plain. Gekiranger had an elaborate set, Go-onger just had a bus, Shinkenger had an old Japanese residence, and Goseiger also looks to be in a house.

So what I am bascially saying is that they are not cutting the budget because they don't have the money, but because they are saving up. Goukaiger sounds like it is going to suck their resources dry, as they are bringing a ton of former castmembers. Granted, these guest stars won't be paid the same they did on their regular show, and probably paid as much as a regular guest star (I don't know how the Japanese acting/television pay discussions work) but there goes more into budget such as bringing back old suits. I am sure Decade cost a lot more than past seasons, even though it lasted 30 episodes, but probably it only lasted 30 episodes in order not to go over-budget.

Gekiranger Music Video - Apologize

This is a music video i did in December of 2007. No copyright infringement intended, I do not own the rights to Gekiranger nor 'Apologize' by One Republic. This music video is in order to express emotions the song brings out and the show as well. I could not post this--you know where.

This is about relationships in Gekiranger, mostly the brothers Retsu and Gou; Father and son Jan and Dan; and Finally, Bat Li and his lady love.

Monochrome Gokaiger promo (has been common since Gekiranger)

This is a newspaper advertisement promoting the Goukaiger and has their character names. Yes, these are the names, most likely nicknames and we may never find out their real names. These names have already been around the forums and blogs, but here you go:
Captain Marvelous/Gokai Red
Joe Gibken/Gokai Blue
Don Dockoiyer/Gokai Green
Luca Millefi/Gokai Yellow
Aim de Famille/Gokai Pink

These promos have been around since Gekiranger, maybe there was one for Boukenger, I don't recall. I remember when the Gekiranger one came out, many people commented on GekiYellow's face, including me!

The Limited Edition version of the Opening/Ending CD comes with a Special Ranger Key, and a Seal. The Theatre G Rosso show, which starts March 12th.

Hyper Hobby February issue: Super Sentai Special Show

ERRORS CORRECTED 1/2/11 8:30 AM EST

Hyper Hobby is a Japanese magazine about toys, action figures and hobby stuff of Tokusatsu. Here are scans of the magazine, with some pages within it about the 34 years of Super Sentai. Scans are thanks to www.modxtoy.com !!!

This first page covers the Red Rangers. Year 18: Kakuranger, Red Ninja with a inset picture of five Kakuranger; Year 30: Bouken Red with Zuuban sword mode and five Boukenger in inset; Two pictures of Aka Ranger from Year 1: Goranger (inset picture blocked by www.modxtoy.com watermark); Year 3: Battle Fever J, Battle Japan and inset picture of 5 person team; Year 12: Liveman, Red Falcon with inset of 3 Liveman (there was 5); and Year 23: GoGoV, Go Red and inset picture of the five.

Year 25: Gaored and inset of 5 Gaoranger; Year 21: MegaRed vs. Yugande and inset of 5 Megaranger; Year 9: Change Dragon and inset of Changeman; Year 33: Shinken Red and inset of Shinkenger; Year 14: Five Red and inset of Fiveman; Year 24: Time Red and inset of Timeranger; and Year 34: Gosei Red and inset of Goseiger.

This page deals with the girls. Top Left: Mei of Zyuranger; Year 8: Mika and Hikaru of Bioman with inset pic of Bioman; Year 28: Dekaranger, Jasmine (Yellow), Ban (Red), and Umeko (Pink) and inset of 5; Year 29: Magiranger, pictures of Houka (Pink) and Urara (Blue) and inset of 5; Year 19: Ohranger, Momo (Pink) in swimsuit with ball and inset of 5; Year 32: G3 Princess (Villain Kegaleshia, Saki (Yellow), and Miu (Silver) and inset of 5 Go-Onger; Year 6: Dynaman, Dyna Pink and Denjiman inset. Picture next to her is Nanami (Hurricane Blue) and Villain Furabijou of Hurricanger and Denji Princess below them. I forget who the girl in the school uniform is.

Note: The picture of Nanami and Furabijou is from one episode, probably the only pictures in all these pages that is an occurrence that happened only in one episode. They probably that put here because it was sort of a precursor to villainesses joining with a heroine to make a musical group, just like G3 Princess of Go-Onger.

This page deals with sixth or additional rangers. Year #20: Signalman and Carranger in inset; Year #16: Dragon Ranger and Zyuranger Inset; Year #17: Kibaranger and Dairanger inset; Year #27: Abare Killer and 3 Abaranger inset. Shurikenger of Hurricanger is left to him. Year #2: JAKQ, Big One and four JAKQ inset; Ninjaman of Kakuranger is left to Big One. Miu in inset left from Go-On Silver and Go-On Gold of Go-Onger.

Note: Abare Killer and Big One were fifth members. Ninjaman and Signalman are 'extra heroes' and everyone else are sixth rangers, except for Miu/Go-On Silver, who was technically seventh. I like that they highlighted a photo of her as well.

This page deals with allies. Above Right is Battle Fever J and above left is Commander Ibuki of Changeman. Year #15: the commander lady from Jetman; Year #22: the tree and acorn of Gingaman, Year #11: the floaty mentor and his team Maskman, Master Shafu of Gekiranger, DekaMaster/Doggie Kruger of Dekaranger, and the dog is Denji Dog of Denjiman. Year #26: Oboro and her hamster father of Hurricanger.

This page deals with villains. Year #31: Mele and Rio and inset of 3 Gekiranger; to the right is Zonette and Gyamo of Carranger; Year #4: Denjiman inset and Queen Hedrian; Year #5: Queen Heridan and inset of Sun Vulcan; Year #13: Kirika and Yanimaru with Turboranger inset; Year #10: Flashman villains and inset of Flashman. Below are Bio Hunter Silver of Bioman, Buuba from Changeman (thanks FantasyLeader!) and Year #7: Dark Knight of Dynaman (in the inset, blocked by watermark).
