Movie Edition Figures/Metallic Armor: All That Glitters

UPDATED 7/16/14
Hotlinking to a particular website has been removed

In the Summer of 1995, when the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie was coming out, Bandai America released figures with boxes in black and silver, in honor of the movie. Basically everything was repackaged. The 5.5" figures were the same as the auto-morphin figures and 8" figures were the same as the 8" figures except that the Ninja animal emblem were on the chests and the coating was metallic. The White Ranger was the only one without the falcon on his vest and the 5.5" figures had the dino coins in ranger colors. They also made metallic auto-morphins.

The reason I bring this up that then later in 1996, in season 3 they had two part episode with the name "Master Vile and the Metallic Armor." The Metallic Armor got an episode named after it and it based on the fiures. Even when released again, the toys were called Metallic Armor. Most likely Bandai America pushed for this, maybe this was like their first Battlizer. Some fans thought it was okay but others were outraged, since it wasn't really armor but...

You guessed it, Glitter. Linkara has been a lookback at each season and when he covered the Metallic Armor in season 3, he called it 'glitter.' And basically that's all it was and was used only for a bit. I think it was pretty looking, especially on the red and pink Rangers but a redundant and useless move by the production team.

Hehe, I remember the Tengu Warriors calling it "new, shiny Power Ranger suits" in the German Dub. Pretty accurate.

I was angry since I was sure this was the way the show would upgrade to the movie suits.
