Just Ideas: Possible Power Rangers Theme Park Attractions?

Here is my own renditions and ideas. This by no means for sure will happen or are official. Nor have I heard any rumors or truth about any real ideas. Feel free to add comments on your ideas. I have a poll going on right now and when the results come out, I will either reiterate these ideas or link to this post. These are also the options from the poll.

Rollercoaster
Got the idea from the Hulk rollercoaster. I'm not a big fan of rollercoasters, but I can imagine that the cars can be in different colors as the rangers and be like a rainbow coaster. And maybe have a select villain.

Enclosed 'Dark' Ride
A ride like the ones at Disney (Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, etc.) or the Spider-man ride at Universal Islands of Adventure. The ride can be 3-D like Spider-man or be like the ones I mentioned before with animatronics that barely move. They can tell a story. It could be of any select Power Ranger team, I vote for Mighty Morphin. since it is the best known. Most rides go from room to room, the first room could have Rita escaping the dumpster, second have Zordon telling Alpha to get five teenagers and we see the morphed Rangers appear, the third can have the Rangers fighting a monster or Goldar and fourth Megazord battle and fifth could have Zedd and Green Ranger and so on.

Indoor Stageshow
The Stage show Saban had in 1995 could be replicated or made better inside a housing stadium like Disney has for their stage shows, which are virtually all gone but the ones I grew up with where Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid in MGM Studios. I like air conditioning. And having it indoors, it can have special effects or 3-D. And this show can have different Rangers from different teams and being in-suit, they can have different voice actors. They can take the plot of Super Legends where Zedd returned.

Outdoor Stageshow
Disney Hollywood Studios only had the Rangers in a parade and meet and greet, but back when it was MGM Studios, there was Ninja Turtles and they had a outdoor stageshow and then they did a meet and greet. As we said before, Sentai has plenty of stageshows and most of them are outdoors and they do pyrotechnics. Outdoors could also have a slight arena roof.

In a Parade
The only thing Disney had them do was participate in the Car parade in Hollywood Studios. I have covered this many times before as they had one member from a different team and would rotate members, having a member of a new team replace one from four years before, for example Mystic Pink replaced Pink Time Force Ranger.

Meet and Greet
After the parade and at different times in Disney World Hollywood Studios in Orlando, the suited Power Rangers would sign autographs. To start out again, Saban will probably have all 5 Samurai Rangers and then slowly add a new member from a new team replacing another. I do wish they would have like Samurai Red, MMPR Pink, RPM Black, Jungle Fury Yellow and Operation Overdrive Blue.

What I was thinking of was in-suit but an outdoor thingy where they train kids with simple marital art things and have an actual Martial Arts person be the host and explain.

Game-like Ride
In Disney World Magic Kingdom there is this Buzz Lightyear ride where you go in cars and have to zap targets. So maybe each looks like a zord and you have targets from different series, like one room has putties and Lord Zedd is in command at a park or cave and another has Cylcobots and Ransik is the boss inside a cityscape and another has Grinders and Venjix (a giant tube) in his headquarters, etc.


Museum of History
Ah, I want this so much. I imagine a big space with several rooms, it doesn't have to be as big as an actual musuem but it would be awesome to see suits in cases. They wouldn't have to have all the suits of each rangers but at least a few from each team. Or maybe all the helmets. I mean, there are some fans that have one helmet from each team. Not only suits and helmets of the team but like with Sentai that has Megazords, villains, and vehicles.

History of Power Rangers at Universal Studios

For almost five years, the Power Rangers were at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios in Orlando (2005 to 2010). But that is no longer the case. For those who just clicked on this from google and not familiar with this, Disney owned Power Rangers from 2002 to 2010, now it is owned once again by the original owner Haim Saban. I've read online that many parents miss the Rangers and their kids want to see them. So far Saban has not announced them at any parks as of yet. Because Power Rangers are now airing on Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon Studios used to be at Universal Studios Orlando and some characters did frequent there, some fans believe the Rangers might move over there. It is yet to be announced.

Saban has had the Power Rangers appear at Universal Studios before. For Lightspeed Rescue in 2000, the actors appeared at Universal Studios Hollywood, California for 2 days and their bikes were there for a while. Now, yes these were no staying theme park attractions.

Also I remember reading an article back in 1994 that the original cast of MMPR (Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, Walter Jones, etc.) also made an appearance---they made five shows and there was a big crowd. Now, yes these were no staying theme park attractions. The longest thing at a theme park the Power Rangers have ever had was in Walt Disney World. Another theme park-like thing there is the Nick Hotels and Nick Cruise where the Nickelodeon characters appear at.

Power Rangers at Disney World Guide for Parents

A Guide for Parents and Fans alike, the Power Rangers have been appearing at Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) since 2005. Many say it was difficult to meet with all five at once, so many parents asked their kids to pick their favorite color. The suits they use are specially made for the park, not from the show, notice the holes on the helmets. They are said to also be at Disneyland Paris, but I have not seen pictures. The Power Rangers have left the park August 7th, 2010 (my birthday) because Saban bought the franchise back. Power Rangers are no longer at any Disney park.

1. Pink Time Force Ranger
Season: 2001, ninth
Active: 2005 - early 2006
Retired: 2006
Replaced with: Pink Mystic Force Ranger
 Leader of the Power Rangers Time Force (2001), about time-traveling officers. Jen was tough as nails, hurting from the murder of her fiance and has to deal with working with his exact look-a-like ancestor. She was the original five Power Rangers in Disney World and retired the year late and replaced with Pink Mystic Force Ranger. She hung around for a bit for rare appearances, there are pictures of her and Pink Mystic Force Ranger together.

2. Lunar Wolf Ranger
Season: 2002, tenth season
Years Active: 2005 - 2007 (2)
Retired: 2007
Replaced with: Yellow Ranger
 The Sixth Ranger of Power Rangers Wild Force (2002), he is a Silver Ranger with some blue. The show was about animals and preserving the world. Merrick, the character, was an ancient warrior who was cursed to be a wolf monster. He was incorrectly thought to be a Blue Ranger by parents and Disney park fans. He was part of the original five Power Rangers in Disney World from 2005 to 2007, he was retired in 2007 for a Yellow Ranger. He hung around a bit for rare appearances, a picture of him in 2008 with the other Power Rangers was seen.

3. Green Samurai Ranger
Season: 2003, 11th
Years Active: 2005-2008 (3)
Retired: 2008
Replaced by: Jaguar Ranger
The Sixth Ranger of Power Rangers Ninja Storm (2003), a series about ninja students. Cam, the character, was the smart Asian son of the Ninja master. He was part of the original five Power Rangers in Disney World from 2005 to 2008. He was retired in 2008, replaced by Blue Jaguar Ranger.

4. White Dino Ranger
Season: 2004, 12th
Years Active: 2005-2009 (4)
Retired: 2009
Replaced by: Green RPM Ranger
Of Power Rangers Dino Thunder (2004), where Tommy (the original Green Ranger) is now a teacher, mentor to a new team with dinosaur powers. Trent (a Latino), the White Dino Ranger, was evil for a bit but ultimately became good. His dinosaur is the Tupuxuara. He was part of the original five Power Rangers in Disney World from 2005 to 2008. He was retired in 2009, replaced by the Green RPM Ranger.

5. Red SPD Ranger
Season: 2005, 13th
Years Active: 2005 - 2010 (5)
Retired: 2010
The leader of Power Rangers SPD (2005), a series about police officers who arrest aliens in the future. Jack Landors is the second of three African-American Red Ranger leaders and is cocky and usually jumps before thinking. He was part of the original five Power Rangers at Disney World parks. Many were hoping he would be replaced in 2010 by MMPR Red as Disney was re-airing the first season but alas it never happened.

6. Pink Mystic Force Ranger
Season: 2006, 14th
Years Active: 2006 - 2010 (4)
Succeeded: Pink Time Force Ranger
Retired: 2010
The first change to the roster, she replaced the Pink Ranger to promote the new season at the time, Power Rangers Mystic Force (2006). Vida, the character is a Latina who loves to DJ but doesn't initially like pink. There is a butterfly on her helmet, her power is of the Fairy. She was the obvious choice. She is the second pink ranger at the park. Mystic Force was about magic.

7. Yellow Operation Overdrive Ranger
Season: 2007, 15th
Years Active: 2007 - 2010 (3)
Succeeded: Lunar Wolf Ranger
Retired: 2010
She is from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive (2007), about a team that followed treasures from multiple groups of villains. Ronnie, the character has 'a need for speed.' She was probably added to the Disney World roster to have another female. She is the first yellow ranger at the park, she replaced the Silver Ranger. There have been three male Yellow Power Rangers through the years.

8. Blue Jaguar Ranger
Season: 2008, 16th
Years Active: 2008 - 2010 (2)
Succeeded: Green Ranger
Retired: 2010
From the series Power Rangers Jungle Fury (2008), about three kung-fu students who fight evil animal spirits. Theo, the character is smart Asian student and often puts too much tasks than he can handle. He is the first Blue Ranger at the park, he probably was added because there had been no blue ranger yet. He replaced the Green Samurai Ranger from Ninja Storm.

9. RPM Ranger Green
Season: 2009, 17th
Joined: 2009 (Approx. 16 months)Succeeded: White Ranger
Retired: 2010
He is from Power Rangers RPM (2009), a post-apocalyptic series about a computer virus that takes over the world. Rangers with animal-vehicle hybrids fight it. Ziggy Grover, the character is clumsy, funny and easily distracted and corruptible. His helmet is based on a Orca. He joined the parks last year, replacing the White Ranger, being the second green ranger at the park. So now the fans (young and old) can see Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink and Green.


So there was 1 Red Ranger, 1 Blue Ranger, 1 Yellow Ranger, 2 Pink Rangers, 2 Green Rangers, 1 White Ranger, and 1 Silver Ranger.

As of May 12th, it has been announced that Saban has bought back the Power Rangers. Parents! The Power Rangers are no longer at any Disney Park as of August 7 2010!

Wacky Theories: Disney Resort and MMPR

Attention: This is just a wacky theory, I am not saying I actually believe this to be true nor to be taken as such. THIS WAS DONE BEFORE SABAN BOUGHT PR BACK.

There is a lot of wacky absurd theories out there in the PR Fandom to why MMPR has been re-run this year in 2010, that Shinkenger is not 'adaptable' but we will see or maybe we will never know. I have come up with one theory and it is delightfully preposterous.

A more logical choice to re-air MMPR would be for the 20th anniversary in 2013. If they were going to re-air MMPR in 2013, then in the Disney parks parade, the MMPR Ranger would be blue, not red because the time to replace the Red Ranger at the Disney Parks is this year. There is a pattern going on with the Disney Park Rangers. Dino Thunder White was replaced with RPM Green and the next to be replace would be Red SPD, so it would have be a Red Ranger. So if Shinkenger was adapted, then ShinkenRed (for lack of a PR name) would be Red, Mystic Pink would be replaced by Gosei Pink and Goseiger would have been the 2011 series. Then whatever Gokaiger be adapted into PR, its Yellow Ranger would replace Operation Yellow. Blue Jungle Fury would be replaced by MMPR Blue Ranger. And in this freaky wacky theory, 'Disney' would have liked to have the MMPR Red Ranger lead the parade. But of course, they could have just changed the tradition. Pretty crazy theory right?

Now, this is one realistic theory how things could turn out this year now that MMPR is airing in 2010: MMPR Red could replace SPD Red in March or Spring 2010. If they do adapt Shinkenger in 2011, then Shinken Pink would replace Mystic Pink, Gosei Yellow would replace Operation Overdrive Yellow in 2012 and whatever was next would replace Jungle Fury Blue.

Or if they will show all three MMPR Seasons, they can have Red, then Green in 2011, and then White in 2012. Or maybe Red, White in 2011 and then Pink in 2012. Who knows. It is just a wacky theory, a foolish speculation.

The Future of the Power Rangers #4: Speculations and Jumping the Gun

Now that it has been revealed that re-runs of the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is being re-aired on ABC and that Bandai America is producing new toys based on them, fans have been going nuts. Some are happy about the new toys. Some can't stop thinking about the future, and speculating. Many fans still wonder if there will be another season. Others really want Shinkenger to be adapted. Some think MMPR is being re-made but it is not. The truth is we don't really know what is going to happen. But what is happening is that MMPR the TV series is not being 're-made,' only the toys are. It is possible the franchise is taking a break and we will get a new season in the future. Since most of the crew wrapped up in New Zealand, it most likely they might start production in another country, most likely according to rumors--it will be Canada or they might start all over again in New Zealand.

MYTH: MMPR will be remade.
TRUTH: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers repeats will air in January 2010. And a new toy line will be released this winter of 2009. There will be no remake of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV Series so far.

SPECULATIONS:
My speculation is that the Power Rangers will remain at the Disney Hollywood Studios at Disneyworld, and we will get the MMPR Red Ranger to replace the SPD Red Ranger. That sounds like the most reasonable solution. I am sure Disney will like showing off the original Red Ranger and it will get lots of attention.

Why doesn't Disney make their own Power Rangers without Super Sentai footage?
T.K. brought up this question and my theory is because of costs. Disney cut the budget to JF and RPM, even with existing footage, the shows cost money. Bandai America supplied the money for Battlizers, bikes and the Spirit Rangers but with low sales of toys, they couldn't do it anymore. Disney wanted to cut Toei and Bandai out of the equation to get more money, but since they can't afford going solo (Imagine, if Disney thinks the budget is big already with the help of the Sentai footage---without it, the budget would be even larger), they wanted to go animated and Toei didn't approve. But if they did make the effort of doing their own Power Rangers, they would have to rely on Plex and Bandai to design the toys and everything and Disney rather do it all their own and Toei won't let that happen, depending on the situation.


POSSIBLE SCENARIOS
These are some possible scenarios, just speculations to what will happen to the future of the Power Rangers.

2011:

• Either Season 2 of MMPR gets repeated
• We get a new season, adapted from Shinkenger (2009)
• We get a new season, adapted from Goseiger (2010 Sentai)

2012:

• Either Season 3 of MMPR gets repeated
• We get a new season, adapted from Shinkenger
• We get a new season, adapted from Goseiger or 2011 Sentai

2013:

• Either we get a new season, adapted from Shinkenger
• We get a new season, adapted from Goseiger
• We get a new season, adapted from Gokaiger
• We get a new season, adapted from Goseiger
• We get nothing.

Please stop asking why Shinkenger is not being adapted. We don't know for sure but I theorize that even if it was Boukenger or Dekaranger, Shinkenger was just a 'victim' this year to not be adapted. Who knows, it might be adapted. Shinkenger is not that hard to adapt, they can say the Kanji are just made-up symbols and look at Ninja Storm. Disney just decided to take a break and concentrate on MMPR.

RPM Ranger Green joins Disney World's Hollywood Studios

This will be probably the last time I cover this! Big tear running down my cheek! The Power Rangers have been in Disney World resort and park's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida since 2005. They are part of the Disney Stars and Motor Cars parade. Kids go in hordes. They only allow five at a time. Each year a Ranger gets replaced by another.

In 2005, there was the Pink Time Force Ranger (from the 2001 season), the Lunar Wolf Wild Force Ranger (silver, from the 2002 season), the Green Samurai Star Ranger (from the 2003 season), the white Dino Thunder Ranger (from the 2004 season), and the Red S.P.D. Ranger (from the 2005 season). Though they had irregular colors on the team not common for a standard five-color team: Red, Silver, White, Green, and Pink.

In 2006, the Pink Time Force Ranger was retired by the Pink Mystic Force Ranger. She was selected to clearly replace the other Pink Ranger. Pink Time Force Ranger was at the park for only 2005.

In 2007, the Lunar Wolf Wild Force Ranger was retired by the Yellow Operation Overdrive Ranger. She was probably selected to have two females. The Lunar Wolf Ranger was at the park from 2005 to 2007.

In 2008, the Green Samurai Star Ranger was retired and replaced by the Blue Jungle Fury Ranger. They still had irregular team colors: Red, Blue, Pink, Yellow, and White. He was probably selected because the series started with Red, Blue, and Yellow and they already had Red and Yellow. The Green Samurai Star Ranger was at the park from 2005 to 2008, for three years.

The White Dino Thunder Ranger was in the park from 2005 to 2009, for four years. On March 7th 2009, the White Dino Thunder Ranger was retired by the Green R.P.M. Ranger! I thought this year wouldn't be done because there will be no new season filmed in New Zealand (and Bandai America saying it won't be canceled doesn't prove anything to me) and there is 0 publicity being done (no official website, no merchandise other than toys so far), but I stand corrected! And for the first time ever, the DisneyWorld Power Ranger team has standard Ranger colors: Red, Green, Blue, Pink and Yellow. I am surprised they didn't go with Black--it would be the original colors of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but I guess they wanted to stay with colorful colors--they are also the colors of the original Super Sentai... Goranger.

If you are parent and reading this, they say this Ranger has the power of the Shark, but the animal on his helmet is actually an Orca, the fin faces the opposite way, but Bandai America labeled it as a shark, probably thinking children shouldn't be educated about killer whales.

What Would a Power Rangers attraction look like?

Since 2005, Power Rangers have been part of Disney Stars and Motor Cars parade at the Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando. This has been very popular with kids. There is always long lines and according to people that have gone, at best your kid can see up 4 of the seven rangers that are there, if you are lucky and get there early. I have covered this before, but I am wondering if they are ever going to make a bigger attraction. There was a rumor that they wanted to use the building for Who Wants to Be A Millionaire but fans of the attractions were against it. Disney fans don't like the Power Rangers, one idiot called it "Voltron wannabe" without knowing Super Sentai came out before Voltron. Anyhoo, I think what would work would be something similar to what they do in Japan.

In Japan, mostly all around the year they have a stageshow at Tokyo Dome City with the current team. The stageshow entails a story, pyrotechnics, and suit work. When the yearly series ends, they have the real cast (Gekiranger cast above with Go-onger behind them) on stage one day only as a farewell. At the convention expositions, they have a stageshow with past Sentai heroes, even other Toei tokusatsu heroes. I think since the Disney theme park Power Rangers perform anyway, well for a short time, the Japanese stage shows usually last thirty minutes or so. The old Ninja Turtle stageshow at the old MGM Studios park was about ten minutes long.

In the Japanese stageshows, the heroes fight watered-down versions of the monsters, so perhaps they may have to do that. I have never seen a PR monster in any meet-and-greet event or anything. The closet thing to a PR stageshow is what they currently have. I don't think it would be much for Disney to do a stageshow with an outdoors arena. A ride would be a cool idea, but it is highly unlikely. They didn't even do a ride for the Turtles. At best, it would probably be like Toy Story or Buzz Lightyear rides, that the audience would have to 'zap' stuff with 'lasers.' A history hall would be nice, like that have at the official Bandai Japan headquarters.

They do in fact have the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie Red Ranger suit in the Planet Hollywood Store on Sunset Boulevard. I heard they also have the Yellow Ranger suit.

While the villain's costume from the movie, Ivan Oooze, at Planet Hollywood restaurant in Downtown Disney. I am surprised it is there. It is not a great pic but some sort of proof.

The other closest thing to have a 'history hall' for Power Rangers is the helmets at Power Rangers Bandai tour they had recently to promote the Operation Overdrive Mission Helmet.

This is the current map of Disney Hollywood Studios. Click on the image, the red line in the middle is the parade route of the Stars and Motor Cars parade. Number 6 in the yellow area is where the Muppets are, behind it is where the Ninja Turtles used to be. Number 10 in the purple area is where the Millionaire attraction used to be, now it is the Prince Caspian attraction. This is Disney World, the Power Rangers have yet to appear in Disneyland.
