INTRODUCING: EYESHINE

Hey folks, happy thanksgiving. Hope you all havve a good time enjoying your turkey and your family. Thank you for having me as a writer on the blog, and now I'd like give my thanks to some very special people that though some of you may heard of once or twice, but probably don't know very well.

(left to right: Polo Yazaki, Johnny Yong Bosch, Maurice Salmin, Crystal Mesina)
As some of you may know, Johnny Yong Bosch, after leaving power rangers, became an anime voice actor, and a rocker. But what is this band that he is a member of? well, as stated in the eyeshine panel at PMC3, after having financial problems, Johnny had to make a decission with one of his last possessions (a guitar): play it or sell it. Of course he chose to play it. eventually he met drummer Maurice Salmin, and became the "Lennon/McCartney" of modern rock (though this was still sort of in their "Lennon/Sutcliff" stage). Much like how the Beatles were originally called the Quarrymen, Eyeshine were originally called "Partly cloudy", but then decided the name was stupid. After watching an episode of "Crocodile Hunter", having the late Steve Irwin talk about looking for a crocodile's eyeshine at night, they decided, that should be their new name.

The band mainly consisted of four members, who changed at various points, leading to Johnny with lead vocals/rhythm guitar, Maurice on drums/backup vocals, Crystal Mesina on bass, and Eddie Colmenares on lead guitar. At that point, they've performed at many anime conventions, at PMC1, and released their 4th LP album "Tone of Echoes" (the first three being "How About That", "Red Stripes and White Lights" and "My Paper Kingdom"). In their whole career they did a number of music videos, including "Our Whole Lives Tonight", directed by my good friend, Jason Narvy.

Sometime after losing the first Gimme The Gig competition in 2011, Eddie left the band, and was replaced by their sub guitarist, Masataka "Polo" Yazaki. Eddie then joined another band, and on occasion comes to the band's regular venue to perform, and give friendly support to the band. At that point, Eyeshine were at their best. The music blended so perfectly, and teamwork was just phenomenal. Now, i'm not saying that they were worse before or after, but to ever fan, there is one era in a band's carreer that they find most savoury, and for me, that was it. At that point, they finished their acoustic album "Afterglow", and started working on their 5th LP "Revolution Airwaves". After being reinvited to Gimme The Gig II in 2012, the band scored an amazing victory in the finals, granting them a chance to perform a music video for their song "Stratosphere" under the direction of Don Was. Sadly, this led to the dark age of the band.

Sometime after the competition, Crystal tragically left the band due to family and financial reasons. without a bassist, they had to work around gigs they've already booked by doing accoustic instead of full electric. Luckily, while searching for a replacement, Eyeshine's sister band, Service Interuption lended them their bass player, Zack Duncan. Thanks to Zack's help, they were able to perform to their fullest, even in PMC3, and from the fans' reaction (which I was a part of), they did not disappoint. before the actual concert at PMC, they had a panel with Q/A and music in the background. the next day there was an accoustinc Q/A where they answered in song form, but sadly i can't come because it was a gold event and and a communication error made me short one guest pass. but here's the the basic panel:
Recently, they've been able to find a perminant bassist in Ginny Eck. who joined the band sometime between PMC3 and Sept 5th. Now that the band is complete again, they are trying to rock out harder than they ever could, including a 2nd accoustic album, 2 new music videos "Consuming Fire", and "Broken and Abused", and a special surpise that I promised Johnny I wouldn't tell, but stay tuned for it when it comes. They still play at 2nd St. Jazz club every first Wednesday of the month (the next being Dec. 5th)
How I came aquanted with the band? Well, as some of you may know, Jason Narvy is a friend of mine, and both of us are huge Shakespeare buffs. On my 19th birthday, he got to hang out while he was playing a comedy version of hamlet (which if you really think about it, is a comedy....tragic...but a comedy). but right before he left home to pack for Chicago, he told me to check out the band. Of course I did, and was exited to find johnny was in it. I didn't put too much focus on them just yet but it was kinda cool that my favorite ranger was a rocker. But then last October, I was attending the opening of a toku art museum, and heard a band performing outside. I was surprised to hear it was the band that featured my hero from age 3. After the show, we got to chat for a bit, which was awesome. Afterwards, I started going to gigs, and I was even recognised as the "fedora guy" (long story).....anyways, a whole year has passed, and Johnny and Maurice are now good friends of mine. Looking back, it's funny when your classmates pretend to be friends with rangers, and then you become actual friends with one....and your all-time favorite no less. Granted, I don't go to gigs because he's a ranger....I do it because he's part of an awesome band, and i see a lot of friends rocking out with me. In fact when I watch PR episodes with him in them, it's hard to believe that guy in the show is a personal aquaintance.
Eyeshine is a local LA band, and aren't signed by a label. Not many people know them, but millions of PR and anime fans have heard of them through Johnny's wikipedia, PMC, anime conventions, youtube, or happen to have friends who already listen to them. You can check the band out on youtuble, eyeshine.net, like them on facebook, or follow on twitter, and follow their adventures on their documentary series "Eyeshine Experience". And if they happen to perform in your home town, like Tampa FL last weekend, for example, be sure to check them out.

Henshin0's Universal Rider Forms Terminology

A while ago I wrote a post about Kamen Rider OOO and Fourze 2012 MEGAMAX, and made a question about dbl-rocket stats, and realised that i have my own terminology for all rider forms, which probably aren't the same ones used by most KR fans. So I made a flow-chart with my terms for rider forms, under which all forms of all riders would go under. This is based on all material as of september 2011, so one form on the chart is not quite accurate, and as the show progresses (given the new stages added by decade and w), i will update the chart whenever a new rider shows up with a form that doesn't fit in the chart (most notably fourze dble rocket and rocket drill state). This chart and post is to introduce a universal terminology for the forms so that if I, or anyone else, mentions "mid-" "side-" or "final-" forms of any given rider, old or new, everyone else would understand what is meant by it. ex: if I ask "what is W's mid-form?", you'd be easily able to understand that the answer is "fang-joker". Though some recent riders have different names for their forms such as "combo" or "state", my universal terminology will use "form" since it's been used so much in pre-decade era. Even gatakiriba combo and elec states would both be side-form in my chart. Anyways, here it is:

Incuded in each catagory, is an example or two of rider forms that fall under each catagory.
The main form for all riders, I call base form....no particular reason, but it was the first that came to my head (fourze base state might have influence over the name). All riders have a base form.
Proto form is a weaker stage that some riders have. Often when they first transform, they start off in this form before going to base form. the only to have that are kuuga growing, ryuki plaid, kabuto masked, and den-o plaid.
Sub-base is a weaker version of base form. usually it is used when a rider can't go to base form and uses an alternative transformation. riders who use this include w joker form, skull crystal form, and birth proto version (though it's called proto, do not get confused and put it in the proto-form catagory).
Super-base, in contrast to sub-base, is a powered up version of base form. as of 9/2011, there are only two riders who can use it: kuuga rising-mighty form, and decade fury form.
Side is when the rider dons an alternative form (almost always changes colors) with new powers and changes to statistics such as power, stamina, speed, etc. Side forms were first introduced in black rx with robo and bio rider, the the trend continued with kuuga, agito, den-o, kiva, w, ooo, and fourze.
Super-side is a powered up version of a coresponding side form (the side form equivelent of super-base form). the only rider so far to have any is kuuga with rising dragon, rising pegasus, and rising titan.
Sub-side was first introduced in W, and W and OOO are the only riders so far to have them. With their skill being combinations of two or three sideforms respectively, they can use slightly less powerful cobinations to get out of a pinch in fast pace melee combat. for example, w has two side forms, heatmetal and lunatrigger, but if he were using heatmetal, and needed an extra reach, he would have a lower division of form change by swapping out heat for luna, so that he would still have his metal rod, but with the elongation capability of luna. In addition, each complete combo has an added ability when all three medals are of the same color, but sometimes, he'd need to swap out sonic chest bongo and seismic stomping for cheetah speed for example by going from saigorzo to saigortah.
DCD is a form that was only used in kamen rider decade and his movies by all main heisei riders up to w. They can only be accessed by decade or diend when using a FINAL FORM RIDE card (not to be confused with the term "final form" in my chart). Though it's called final form, I see it as an alternative side form in decade's era. the riders and their forms go as follows: kuuga gouram, agito tornado, ryuki dragredder, faiz blaster, blade blade, hibiki ongekkido, kabuto zecter, den-o liner/momotaros, kiva arrow, decade decadriver-jumbo formation, and w cyclonecyclone/jokerjoker
Mid form for some riders is their second strongest form. it is first introduced in kuuga and reaccurs every other season. Somewhere between the mid teens and mid 20's of the seasons, the main rider fights an enemy that they can't win against in base or side forms, so they a much more powerful form that gives the the strength to win. Examples of such forms include agito trinity, blade jack, hibiki kurenai, w fangjoker, the wildly popular ooo tajadol, and the very recent fourze magnet.
sub-mid and side-mid follow the same meaning as sub-base and side forms, exept they are mid level instead of base level. I made these two levels in precaution for ooo burakawani and four
Final--Since the avent of the heisei era, this is the most anticipated form of main riders. THE FINAL FORM. Save a few movie-exclusive power-ups, final form is the ultimately most powerful form they have.

HENSHIN0's PMC Experience

Hey everyone. As you may know, this was Lavender's 1'st PMC, but it was also my 2nd. I will share some of my own. First, I'm sad to say that I didn't upload any photos yet, so I can't show any just yet; but I might add some later editing. Another thing is that this post is about my general experience altogether, while I'll cover panels on another post.

Much like with PMC2,  one of the greatest annoyances was driving from Encino to Pasadena and back for 3 days in a row, and of course paying for parking. However, one of the greatest benifits of making friends in conventions and other toku events, is having someone giving you "backcutsies" in long lines. one particular example was on the first day before reds were permited to enter, a friend of mine gave me backcutsies as close as 12 people in front of me. and in this convention, i got a total of 12 backcutsies, beating my record from the last PMC by 5 lines. Aesthetics were different between the two conventions. PMC 3 was in a completely different room  than PMC2, allowing for more room for toy sellers and guests. It was a great feeling meeting old friends whether fans or actors. Catching up with Jason Narvy (Skull), (whom I haven't seen since my birthday in 2011) was a blast, as well as Blake Foster (Justin), Paul Shrier (Bulk), and Masaki Seike (Mr. S from CS Toys). There were many new guests with whom I've also managed to come close with such as Ted, Tim, and Tom DiFillipo (three trey's of triforia), Ron Rogge (Capt. Mitchell), Mike Ginn (Gem), and a few others that I've only talked with on facebook, or met at PMC2, but didn't get to talk to as much as I did. There were some people that didn't come, but would have really wanted to meet, most notably Matt Austin (Bridge), Selwin Ward (TJ), and Sean Johnson (Carter), who are some of my most all-time favorite red rangers...I even made toast....yes, it's buttery -wiggles fingers-

Ron Rogge was particularly interesting to meet because with Carter Greyson being one of my all-time favorite rangers, how can I not indulge in meeting the actor that played the hero of my hero. Paradoxically, he, simultaniously, was both everything and absolutely nothing you'd expect from Captain Mitchell. He is smart, wise, and has somewhat of an aura that makes you (or me at least) awestruck to just so much as being in his presence. Just as soon as he said hello to me (from behind; I was facing away from him at the moment), I turned and said "hello" calmly, but in my head, I was thinking "OH MY GOD!!!!! IT'S CAPTAIN (bleep)ING MITCHELL!!!!!! MY HERO'S HERO!!!!!!". I'm suprised my head is still in tack, because it felt like it was exploding. As i got to know know him, I also found out that he is also way more easygoing than his tv role; a total fun and chill guy, and even a bit crazy and party-animalistic. I swear if I spent 24 hours with in a non-convention evironment, the end result would resemble the plot of a raunchy comedy (which I am now intending of writing).

The Triforians were interesting to talk to, but what was really fun was discussing and debating about PRZ, which ended with them having me give them a brief history lecture on the first 6 seasons of power rangers and their sentai counterparts (even showing footage of riki/kingranger from ohranger). We've became good friends (Tim even sent me a friend request on FB), but the best part is the three of them, using the golden staff of triforia, have knighted me as their personal unofficial toku advisor (which is kind of epic).

Mike Ginn....thank god nothing went boom...Just kidding. He is really deep. Ironically, he's a lot more like Hiroto than like Gem (no, he's not a jerk if that is what you think). As soon as we found out we both were named "Mike", we actually got into a discussion about the historical origin of the name, and its odessy to the present, ranging from Catholic Rome, to Soviet Jewdaism. One particular discussion we had actually started off with a question I asked in the SPD/RPM panel, where in our one on one discussion we were talking about the serious Hiroto in the goofy go-onger vs the goofy Gem in the darker-toned PR RPM, how there is a need to be a balance between lighter and darker tones in a show to be good, and how these tones are balanced in the two shows. What was really impressive is that though he never actually watched go-onger, he's really knowledgeble about hiroto and what he calls "talking googly-eyed cartoon cars".

One visitor that I was particularly mutually happy to be reunited with was Masaki Seike aka Mr. S from CS Toys. We got along famously in PMC2, and appearantly I stood out to him enough to be remembered for another 2 years. I got to cosplay as Akashi Satora (Boukenred) and be on camera, talk to the CS toy fans watching his stream, play with some of his new merchandice, and essentially relive gokaiger episode 21. But of course I was mostly discussing kamen rider with him and actually got my name kanji'd by the lady that made the "shippu" and "kirafuda" talismans from kamen rider w episode 29. Hilariously, while the lot of us were talking about my obsession with kamen rider kabuto, I pulled out a random core medal from his promotional gift box, and I end up pulling out the kabuto medal. (if they make an akiba rider, Seike himself confirmed I should play him XD). But seriously, I'll miss him, and untill next time, I'll continue to watch his youtube channel in support.

Eyeshine.....the weirdest thing about seeing Cathrine's and Nakia's (Cat and Tonya) tables is seeing Johnny Yong Bosch in the zeo/turbo days. Knowing Johnny as Johnny, the lead singer of eyeshine, and being fully accoustomed to that, it's hard to believe he played Adam in power rangers...I suppose I now know how Kira from dinothunder felt when she saw tommy from highschool.

Me-I'm so used to the Johnny from right now, it's hard to believe this was Johnny from back then.
Cat-Welll, I'm so used to the Johnny from back then, that it's hard to believe that is Johnny now.

It was also Surreal to see people I know online such as a friend from youtube, a few people on facebook, and

Henshin0's Sentai Mecha Wishlist

Hey guys, it's been a while. This is not a toy wishlist; it's more of a list of things I'd like to see in the future of sentai mecha. The things in my list vary from mecha, to theme, to limbs etc.
The first thing I wish to see is more insect themed sentai/mecha. With Beetbuster coming soon, I felt relieved to see a new insect senshi and mecha. Prior to gobusters, the insect senshi count in sentai was only 2: kaburaiger and kuwagaraiger from hurricangers. and the insect mecha prior to gobusters count is 4: gourai beetle, gourai stag, kabutogami, and stag header. Growing up as a kid, insect predacons were my favorite transformers, because of the complex structures as insects, and the complex transformations into robots, and gouraijin and the images of BC-04 were not disapointing. Furthermore, the theme of insect sentai hasn't been done yet. The closest thing to an insect sentai i've seen is kamen rider black rx, blade, and kabuto (but only in line-up scenes), and b-fighter/b-kabuto. Even the members of Eyeshine (the rockband with Johnny Yong Bosch [Adam Park] as the lead singer/rhythm guitarist of) all concurred with the desire for an insect theme when i told them about a rock themed sentai (that's another story). The point is, there needs to be more insect senshi and mecha, and i pray that beetbuster is the first of many.

There are other animals that were indeed used, but very little, but I'd like to see them reused out of how many creative ways they could be utilized. Among them, the first i can think of are giraffe and deer (both used only in gaoranger). A deer is kinda cool; the design for thunder deer from kamen rider blade can be root for things other than an arm with stag-claws such as wings, or a crossbow, or a thunder staff etc. A giraffe is just new and original. Other than just being an arm, it could also be a lowerbody/upper legs section, and another mecha with a hole in its body can go through the neck to form the upperbody, and the rest of the neck can come off to reveal a head and be a sword or something. Gobusters is the first to use a rabbit. When i heard it, i was skeptical at first, but it worked out. RH-03 (animal form) looks awesome! the only other time i've seen a rabbit theme robot look cool is one of Weil's eight gentle judges from megaman zero3. In sentai, there have been several recurring mythical creatures (mainly dragons and pheonix), but one that has only been used once (that being magiranger), and would be awesome to come back is the unicorn. Heck, a horse in general. Unicorns are awesome, and could be used as a leg, both lower legs, an arm, both arms, or the same way used in magikaizer in general. other rare animals I'd like to see include squid, frog/toad, aligator/crocodile, ram, armordillo, stegosaurus, fairy, jaguar, chameleon, turtle, monkey, snake (ESPECIALLY SNAKE), and manta.

As far as vehicles go, there is little to wish for. There are litterally more seasons with vheicles than animals. In fact, animal mecha (mecha, not senshi) weren't used until liveman. Although there are some that could work into my list. Of all my transformers, astrotrain is one of my favorites because it is not only a tripplechanger, but also two vehicles i wish to see more often: a train, and a space shuttle. trains were used only 4 times: gogoV, magiranger, go-onger, and goseiger. space crafts in general were only used in megaranger, gogoV, timeranger, and gokaiger (if you count gokaigalleon as a space craft).....that's pretty much it.

One thing I really want to see in the mecha is more complex and creative gattai formations. There are way too many formations that have one mecha be the body, and the other four become arms and legs, or have two be either arms or lower legs, and the third become the rest of the body. it's even worse when the gattai actually needs less mecha, and remaing is just accesories such as gogo gyro and abare ptera. I enjoyed gaorhino becoming both legs save a foot for gaodillo, ginga gorilla and chunin toad becoming the waist down, and gosei snake becoming the waist-to-knees and the right leg. It is less often used, and it seems more desireable for the creativity. Gobusters is the first since dairanger to have the primary gattai be the red by himself, then the rest of the team become armor). Even if they use recurring uncreative animals or vheicles, at least make the gattai formations more creative. Make something that would make reviewers such as baltmatrix and collectionXD say "THIS IS A MUST HAVE".

So far, bandai looks ok with the beet crane coming soon, and it becoming an individual mecha like won tiger, but (addressing the executives from bandai) if you can't come up with anything interesting from the above, just email me. I'm loaded with good ideas for future sentai toys. This is what will make you more money from the American fan base. Some people do a lot of concideration between buying sentai now and buying ranger later.

NEW YEAR GREETINGS!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (says kamen rider ichigo)
May you have the strength to start your ranger training, and keep it up for more than 2 weeks.
But seriously, jokes aside, have a morphinomenal new year!

Dragonzord: REAL or FAKE!?

 Henshin0:
I've Written a post recently on thing to look foward to, some confirmed and some unconfirmed. One particular item on that list has raised controversy on the comment wall and may have even damaged the ethos of this blog. I am, of course, talking about the MMPR-R Dragonzord. First, I'd like to repeat that not everything on my list is confirmed. Second the reason I believe in this, than not are for the following reasons: there are products that were sold in America, but not in England. There are products that are sold in England that aren't in America (for example some retrofires that weren't sold here until recently). Third, Rita is an MMPR-R figure but packaged as samurai anyways, so this could be too. Like I said before, that the figure was on my friend's shelf (which was the point that most people believe is the anti-ethos), but here is the photo below.
The point of this post is not to prove or disprove if this toy exists, but just for you to see the photo, and decide for yourself if this is fake or real. If you believe this is real, then you have something to look foward to. If you believe this is fake, then go ahead and disbelieve this, but at least give my friend props for doing such a good job photoshopping, because this looks too real to be fake (like a photo of Aziz Ansari with Kanye West and Jay-Z).
Again, as of yet, we of Henshin Grid cannot confirm if this is real or fake until we get further proof of one way or the other, but in the mean time, feel free to write a comment on if you believe if this is real or fake, and why. Just remember, when commenting or replying to anything us writers or even your fellow readers say, be polite and choose your words carefully because we all have feelings, and different conotations make the difference between criticism and insults.

Henshin0's Megamax Predictions-Updated

During the summer, after my trip to Israel, I wrote a post and part of it was a list of predictions I had about what's to come for the kamen rider movies. For those who don't remember or didn't read it, here's the list again (note this is prior to the release of "wonderful 21 medals":
>Before fighting the main villain in OOO movie, OOO will face a lesser
movie villain, but will be interrupted by a brief arrival of 4's, who
will also defeat that lesser villain.
>Given the previous titles given to year-end team ups (war
and core), the movie will likely be called 2012 Soar (because it rhymes with the
above and it's appropriate for 4's motif.
>The OOO side will feature a new combo and/or new
form for birth and/or new rider (most likely options 1 and 3)
>The 4's side will feature a mid form (like fang-joker and
tajadol)
>Either during the 4's side or in the Soar-cross, the
second rider will be revealed (like accel and birth)
>Next spring, there might be another den-o film that may
include 4's (and if it does, it might take place in space)
Now, here's the update, on my predictions so far. The first one was not only true, but highly anticipated even though many fans don't really like fourze. The second one, sadly, wasn't true. Instead of being called "soar", it was called "megamax", which doesn't sound as cool in my opinion (in fact, I almost think "miramax"). #3 of prediction 3 was correct with not one, but two riders (even though they are the good and evil versions of the same person). #1 did come true, but in the Megamax-cross, rather than the OOO arc. Since we are talking about arcs, I should mention they really sucker-punched me be also having w and showa arcs. Fourze gets Double Rocket states. I said he will get a mid form on either his or cross arcs, but sadly, I have not seen the movie. I don't know at what point he uses it, but he definately uses it on one of those two arcs. The real question is, is it a mid form, side mid form, or sub mid form? For those of you who are confused about the terms "mid", "side", or "sub", don't worry, I'm planning on writing a post on rider forms, and my terminology for them. But I do know that swtches 30 and 31 form magnet states, which I think will be mid form. If it turns out that it is final form, then yeah, Double Rocket will be Mid form. The end credits do count as part of cross arc, so I was right about Meteor (second rider) being in the cross arc.
Ok, let's tally up: out of 5 (not counting the den-O prediction), where correct is +1, partially correct is +0.5, maybe or so-so is 0, and wrong is -1, I got 2.5/5, the maybe or so-so being the validity of dbl-rocket being a mid form. That makes the difference between 1.5/5, and 3.5/5. I kinda hope I'm wrong because I just don't like the idea of it being the mid form. I prefer it being sub mid, and magnet being mid.
As for the cross with den-o, there hasn't been an anouncement for it being made, but if they insist on making a new movie every year, They are missing a big oppertunity if denliner with the KR club aren't going to space on 1961 with Gagarin or doing a lunar landing with Armstrong in 1969. Gentaro and Yuki dreamed of being astronauts, and this is a chance for them to live that dream. I prefer a cameo from Gagarin over Armstrong because everyone (and sorry for the fallacy of generalization) knows Armstrong was the first man to step foot on the moon, but very few people (again, sorry for generalizing) know anything about Yuri Gagarin, who was the first man in space, and after whom Fourze is comemorated the 50th anivarsery of. He was a cool guy, both in the heavens and on the earth, and it would be cool for more people to know about him. Besides, there may be a possibility that if he didn't make that first flight, Armstrong wouldn't have made his landing (again, POSSIBLY). And let's face it, DEN-LINER IN SPACE!!!!!!!

Henshin0's List of Upcoming Things

Hey everyone, henshin0 here. Sorry i haven't made posts in a while, I was under the weather. This is just a quick notice on a few things I want mention, some of which you should write down for future reference (note, not everything on the list is confirmed, so take with a grain of salt):
First and foremost, Happy Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, and New Year.
On 1/7/2012, there will be a PRDT 48 hr marathon on Nicktoons, with a commercial emphesizing the fact that Tommy is in it.
The second half of Samurai will air as the "twentieth" season of Power Rangers, titled, "Power Rangers Super Samurai".
Filming for the "twenty-first" season, "Mega-Force" (based on "Goseiger") will begin, with it airing in 2013.
Gokaiger has been extended to fifty-ONE episodes, with the thirty-sixth season of Super Sentai, "Tokumei Sentai Gobuster", premiering in Febuary, instead of late January.
Power Morphicon comes back for a third session in August. Unlike the last two conventions, the one-day passes are given ranger color of blue and yellow, much like how there are red, silver, and gold.
All 200 gold passes are already sold out.
I don't know about Pat, but Lavender and I are definately going, so be sure to muster the investigative ability to find us there.
Having said that, Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam Park MMPR2-PRIS, PROO) and his band are touring in Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, and one other state (can't remember which), but has expressed interest in coming to PMC3.
Lastly, MMPR-R Dragonzord will appear in the 2012 toyline, so, you can wipe your tears if you have MMPR-R Titanus, because you will soon have the complete set of seven.
ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAYS FOLKS!

(Lavender Ranger Disclaimer: I love Henshin0, but some of what he said has not be confirmed to be official yet. We have no confirmation of the Dragonzord, there is no confirmation on Mega Force being based on Goseiger as of yet, and everything else is on the up and up as far as I know. This is too no way discredit Henshin0, just to clarify some of the questions that have arisen due to this post.)

Old Power Rangers Holloween Costumes

Hey guys, it's Henshin0. Sorry I haven't posted anything recently, I have been either sick, lazy, or had problems with both blogger and the internet as a whole. This is the first of several posts I've been putting off for too long. You can kinda tell concidering the fact that the photos were taken a week before Halloween, and it is now November. Anyways, I had to help my dad find an obscure costume for him (considering how much he hates Scandanavian holidays....and 90's children's television). While in a certain store, I found some suprisingly old power ranger costumes that I forgot were even made. Due to the fact that the store was busy, and I had to work fast so my dad doesn't see what I am doing, I took a few pictures of costumes and accesories, but not all of them.

First, there were some glove and boot accessories, mainly red and green mystic force ranger, and blue operation overdrive ranger
There were also weapon accessories. Among shown, are delta strikers, delta blasters, survibusters (or whatever the PROO sidearm is called), and drive slammer. In another store, I saw drive vortex, but that store was the one before this one, therefore, I didn't take the picture.

Now the piece of resistance (as the French say), the costumes! Like I said, there was little time and space to take pictures, so I don't have all of them, but I will list them all. There were SPD red and blue, Mystic Force red, green, and Solaris Knight, all four male PROO rangers, red and blue Jungle Fury rangers, RPM series red, blue and black rangers, red and blue Samurai rangers. And last, but most definately not least, Red Tyrranasaurus Ranger!

It is worth mentioning that on the day of Halloween, a large group of costumed kids were walking around my college campus, and among them, was a 4 year-old dressed as SPD shadow ranger.

Fourze Leaked Trailer+Toku in Israel+Predictions for Fourze

Hey guys, henshin0 here saying "ORE SANJOU!!!". Anyways, I'm sure I shouldn't talk about my personal life on this blog, but Israel was fantastic, especially when I tell you a few toku-lated things I found about it. Power Rangers Samurai is pretty popular there....really popular. One day, I was channel surfing in a hotel in Jeruselem, and find PRS dubbed and subbed in Hebrew. When you spend a year hanging out with Paul Shrier, watching his band perform, listening to his anecdotes about riding a motorcycle with Narvy, and other real-life crazy adventures of Paul and Jason, it is kinda surprising to see your friend lecturing Felix Ryan the ways of the samurai in Hebrew. I'd prove it with a photo or video, but my phone was dead (sorry guys). But what really interested me is Power Rangers and (wait for it) Kamen Rider are both popular there, but ironically, no one has ever heard of Super Sentai. The Israeli soldiers I hung out with were all fans of Blade, Kabuto, OOO, and Den-O, and much like me, hated the the first five minutes of 2010 Movie War.

That isn't the only thing that caught my toku-related attention. In addition to finding venders with bootleg copies of 7-Fighting Demons dubbed in Hebrew, but I constantly find the below poster all over Tela Aviv. Note, it is just a flyer for a sticker promo, but what an interesting cross-over it would make:

POWER RANGERS SAMURAI vs ANGRY BIRDS

Being back, I just had to check out jetfusion to catch up on gokai-ooo, where I stumbled upon a video leaked from a press conference. The video includes a press-battle between Fourze and the red-monster-guy, followed by a video of the extended trailer of the show. The trailer shows Fourze holding and using four switches in human and rider forms respectively, the cliques, and some other stuff. Anyways, I'm sure you're bored now with my anecdote, and want to get on to the trailer, so here it is:

What else I found on JF is confirmation of 4's (my abridged name for fourze) to cameo in the OOO movie, and for there to be a 2012 cross-film. So here is my prediction of what's to come based on patterns from the last two years (take with a grain of salt):

>Before fighting the main villain in OOO movie, OOO will face a lesser movie villain, but will be interrupted by a brief arrival of 4's, who will also defeat that lesser villain.

>Given the previous titles given to year-end team ups (war and core), the movie will likely be called 2012 Soar (because it rhymes with the above and it's appropriate for 4's motif.

>The OOO side will feature a new combo and/or new form for birth and/or new rider (most likely options 1 and 3)

>The 4's side will feature a mid form (like fang-joker and tajadol)

>Either during the 4's side or in the Soar-cross, the second rider will be revealed (like accel and birth)

>Next spring, there might be another den-o film that may include 4's (and if it does, it might take place in space)

---Again, these are just predictions based on patterns from the last two years, so don't take them seriously, regardless of how ironic it would be if I was completely correct with them. But seriously, the chances are astronomical, so don't.

Kamen Rider Fourze: News Bulletin

Hey guys, as you might know (or didn't but now will), Kamen Rider OOO is only a few episodes away from a conclusion, and as early as a few weeks ago, the next season of Kamen Rider has been revealed in the form of Kamen Rider Fourze. Some pictures have already seen of the rider, actor, cast, rocket switch, and two villains. Now, about over a week ago, there was a news report on tv about the series. The report can be seen in the link below:

The report features the "pre-transformed" henshin sequence (the part where the rider does a pose and/or does something on the belt/device), fourze's bike, the cast, a news paper with the cast, a one-second fight scene, and a few words from the lead actor. Sadly, I don't know Japanese, so this is all the advanced info I can give.

PLEASE ENJOY!

Yes (138 votes; 51%)
No (30 votes; 11%)
Maybe (73 votes; 27%)
Don't Know (29 votes; 10%)

Would you want Blake Foster to be Red Ranger in the future: For Goseiger Adaptation (109 votes; 39%)

For Goseiger Adaptation (109 votes; 39%)
For Gokaiger Adaptation (83 votes; 29%)
For something else (79 votes; 28%)
Not at all (88 votes; 31%)

Would you want Skull to come back to the show: Cameo in PRS (199 votes; 70%)

Cameo in PRS (199 votes; 70%)
Full time (97 votes; 34%)
As a Ranger (46 votes; 16%)

What Color Ranger would you want Skull to be if he was to be a Power Ranger: Silver (102 votes; 40%)

Red (34 votes; 13%)
Green (64 votes; 25%)
Blue (31 votes; 12%)
Black (92 votes; 36%)
Silver (102 votes; 40%)

Frankly, the latter three results were unexpected to me. No offense if my following opinions about the results are...well offensive against your votes. Well, both Skull posts are different from what I expected, although is having him appear in samurai for one or two episodes better than a whole season? But what I find interesting is how much you want Justin to be Gosei Red more than Gokai Red. Honestly, getting him to be the prior would be harder to write than the latter. But what is even more interesting, is that you want him to not appear at all, rather than be gokaired.

It just so happens that Blake, Jason and I, are working on a peliminary script to propose to saban. We are formulating it carefully to get around all the Cons of adapting the season, particularly canon and having footage with the 34 teams. It started with having Blake be the red ranger (which is the jumping off point in the brain-storm).

While trying to work on a general idea of what the main cast would be like, and thought not only should Skull come back, but also mix things up by having him be a ranger, because not only is green perfect for his character, but also Skull kinda deserved it.

We didn't have anything in mind for Cyberon (Barizorg), but after watching a parody video made by Jason Chan, I thought it would be cool if he came back, only to find that it was a perfect saban-esque idea to have cyber-cam be the adaptation for Sid (barizorg's human form). needless to say, he accepted.

What however was in our original brainstorm, is have an actor/actress of an old-school villain to come back as a new villain. It was obvious we were all thinking of Goodson as Insarn. After some time waiting for an answer, we are proud to say that as of thursday, we got our actress for Insarn.
We are still in a "fan-fic" phase, but are actually making some progress, and are confident it would pull through. I thank you for your moral support, but please don't send tag requests on face book, because we are not look for audition canditates until after the proposal.

lastly, in case if there's no free wifi in Israel, I would like to give props to Lavender Ranger for the awesome patriotic banner....

...and to the readers, have a morphin' aquatian summer vacation!

Henshin0's feelings over PR streaming on Netflix

When I read the article about Netflix streaming this "tomorrow" (today by now), you couldn't believe my ecstasy. This is one time where being an insomniac is a good thing, because lying on your bed, you start to realize, "Wait, it's midnight.....POWER RANGERS ARE STREAMING ON NETFLIX NOW!" And I got a first look, and it rocked my world. First of all, the graphics of older footage has slightly improved (the way you think MMPR revisioned would have, before you actually saw it), and at the end of the episodes of all of the shows, even the Disney seasons, they use the new Saban logo, like the one they use at the end of "Samurai". Since I didn't sleep at night, I spent the whole night watching "Zeo", and thanks to the digital remastery, I noticed things I didn't notice before even when they aired it on Jetix.

First, in the zord garage, you can see the initials "U.A.O.H." from Zeo's Japanese counter-part, "Ohranger". Also, in the power chamber, where they have capsules containing the MMPR suits, Yellow ranger's suit (are you ready for this) has a skirt. What ironic timing to notice it, when gokaiger is airing in Japan. I also noticed a few less impressive things like the rangers wearing turtle-necks......a lot, and subtext about David Yost, but that's not important. Who knows what other things I will just start to notice in other old season, but whats really cool, is the fact that it's on netfix, means that via desktop, laptop, TV internet, and iPhone, I can literally spend the whole day watching non-stop Power Rangers. Although, there are a few things you should know. First, they're not streaming Mystic Knights, or Masked rider, and second, MMPR-R is considered S-19 on Netflix, not S-18, while "Samurai" is considered 18, but isn't on netflix at all, even though the cast list is on the site.

THANK YOU SABAN FOR POTENTIALLY MAKING ME COMPLETELY ANTI-SOCIAL BY HAVING ME RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES ABOUT OVERGROWN TEENAGERS IN SPANDEX.......and body armor......and whatever Dr. K. said her RPM suits were made of.

Power Rangers Samurai - Team Spirit - Review

Henshin0 Reviews
Due to personal scheduling conflicts and lines constantly skipping, my review might seem badly done, so I apologize for that in advanced, but please bare with me on this.

Synopsis:

The episode starts off with Emily looking around for the other rangers who seem to be missing. The actuality is that they are sneaking around the Shiba house trying to set up a surprise birthday for her. Mia offers to bake one, but the guys quickly shout "NO!" and save by telling her that "you don't wanna risk it" and Antonio already ordered one from the bakery.
Meanwhile, Octoro warns Dayu about hanging out with Deker while constantly annoying us, the audience with his catch-phrase "ooo-a-ooo". They notice the Sanzu is rising, and the monster, Split-face volunteers to make it go higher.

Elsewhere, Antonio tries to catch a big bass for Emily, and on the way back, he crosses paths with Deker. He mistakes Deker for a shisherman. After being corrected, he offers him lunch and to try his new "baby barracuda" recipe.

Split-face steals peoples' spirits, and splits his body apart and over-powers the rangers and steals Em's spirit. He tells the rangers that the souls will be permanently his in 24-hrs, up to which time, he'll stay in the sanzu river, where no mortal can enter.

While the victims+Emily are in a coma, Antonio tries to use the "Live" symbol to bring clawzord to life. The Sanzu rises higher, while the team tries to figure out how to get the monster to come out. Deker appears, and tells the rangers that a mortal can pass into the sanzu by becoming a Niglock, reveiling that Deker did that once, though he has no memory of it. Antonio tells the rangers to use their sybol powers on clawzord. After putting enough symbol power, the clawzord grows to full size, and Split-face is forced out into the human world. As it turns out, in the earlier battle, Antonio marked one of S-F's parts with a program symbol that not only draws him to the clawzord, but also prevents him from seperating, alowing the rangers to defeat his first life. Sadly, they can't use the megazord to fight the second life without Emily. Antonio then summons clawzord and overpowers S-F until he summons giant moogers. Antonio transforms his zord into claw battlezord east and fight some of them off. then he use west and west fan to protect himself, while the lads summon battlewing to fight off the flying moogers so that he can use south and south katanas to fight S-F and finish him with east claws.
Emily and all of the other victims revived, and celebrated her birthday (with the relief of Mia being "busy" while eating the bakery cake.while the octozord WASN'T stolen by a passerby.

REVIEW:

The episode was pretty nostalogic to episode 20 of shinkenger. It does however, feels weird that Antonio and Deker meet so early on in the translation, but it was just as amusing as Genta and Juzo. I'm not surprised that not only was Emily not in a complete coma, but also in the fact that her sister, Cerina is still alive, because PR always had a history of not killing dead people (save RPM). It was cool how Claw Battlezord uses a compass system, just like Ebi origami. There are particularly two things I didn't like about the episode. One, they didn't have Bulk and Spike again; there are so many ways they could have been in the episode, but weren't. The other is that they didn't have Diend kidnap octozord. In the original episode of Shinkenger, Genta walks out and finds Daiki stealing ikagami calling himself "the passerby kamen rider", leading to the interlude of the crossover of Decade teaming up with shinkengers. Saban bought the footage to the episodes, so why not go with it. I also wonder when they will air the skipped episodes. they did infact film shinkenger episode 1. The commercials on nicktoons even has a brief clip the monster saying Octoroo was hit by an "ugly-stick". Speaking of which, why are Octoroo and Octozord called as such, if they are both squids?

"KAMEN RIDER OOO: CREATE YOUR OWN COMBO CONTEST" important notice.

There are two important things that have come to my attention lately:

First of all, it's Wednesday, and that meens that you only have 10 days left to submit your entry. I suggest you start drawing if you haven't started doing so already; which brings me to the second thing.

A deviant art user sent me an entry by e-mail because he can't figure out a way to send it to me via D.A. With some checking, I see his/her point. So here is my solution.

at the front page of my (and other peoples) diviantart account, there should be a section on the right side where other users can write comments on my front page. if you have your entry already deviated, then send me a link for it on my Wall (you might need to add me to diviant watch). If this doesn't work, then just send it via e-mail. Submission description details still apply the same way.

Thank you, and good luck!

Kamen Rider OOO: Create Your Own Combo Contest!

Hey guys, henshin0 here with my first official post, in no better day than my birthday. Since I'm a new writter here, I want to get to know the frequent visitors a bit better; and what better way than an art contest. With a new and highly anticipated combo to appear next week, and at least two more on the way, people will be inspired to make loads of fan art, so why not show off yours! make your own ooo combo and send it here. here's what you do.

Via any visual medium (i.e. pencil, paint, crayon, ms paint, etc) draw a picture OOO using your combo, with the three core medals used to make it. I'm not expecting profesional Bottacelli style drawing, but don't make a simple stick puppet, for this is a test of creativity, and therefore requires clear detail of the medals and the circle on his chest. further more, in the description of your submission should include combo name, color scheme, animal theme, each medal used, their abilities, name for a greeed who would "want them back", and a title for a song for this form (i.e. Gatakiriba--"gotta keep it real").

here is my sample of what I'm talking about:
Now for submission:
There are two ways you can submit your pictures. If you have a deviant art account, upload it, and send it to me on my account in the link below:

in the description, label the required info in the following format
Combo Name:__________
Animal Theme:__________
Color Theme:___________

Medals:
(head animal) ([english name if animal's name is Japanese])-(core medal's power)
(body animal) ([english name if animal's name is Japanese])-(core medal's power)
(legs animal) ([english name if animal's name is Japanese])-(core medal's power)

Greeed: (greeed's name)

here is what it would look like for kabuyenku combo:
http://kabuyenku-raida.deviantart.com/#/d3et3cx

If you don't have a deviant art account, and too lazy to make one, just email me: henshin0@hotmail.com

at the subject, write "OOO combo contest", send the image as an attachment, write your google/blogspot name or whatever nickname you want if you don't have one, and write the info required in the same format.

NOTE:
  • -failure to submit your entry and/or including the info in the wrong format may result in it not being counted.
  • -the entries MUST be submitted by Saturday, 5/7/2011, 9:00pm, pacific time zone
  • -entries will be judged by the following:

Creativity-the combo, medals, abilities, and greeed's and song name must really catch my attention.

Functionality-OOO needs all the help he can get, so your combo needs to have USEFUL, but not overely ambiguous abilities.

Follow through-it needs to follow instructions carefully, and the medals and chest have to be well seen in detail.

  • -only one entry per contestant
  • -kabuyenku will not count as an entry
  • -no plagerism, please. I shouldn't have to tell you this, but I will just in case.
  • -don't feel bad if you didn't reach the top 10, 5, or 1. it's not you were bad, they were just better at appealing to us, all entries will appear on my deviant art either way, so everyone will see your hard work!
  • -have fun!!!!!!

PRIZES!
After the entries are submitted, I will pick the top 10 entries, and post them up on henshingrid, with my own picture of what their greeeds would look like. Afterwards, out of those 10, Lavender Ranger will pick the top 5, and I'll post them up with a picture of a yummy that their greed's would summon. then, those five will be put up on a poll, where you, the fans will decide the winner!

That winner will decide what core medals I will use for the first ever ALL PLANT COMBO, WITH ITS OWN GREEED AND YUMMY!

Greetings to HENSHIN GRID Users

HI I'm Henshin0 how are you?
Anyways, I'm a new co-composer (more like sub-composer) appointed by Lavender Ranger to help out with the web site. Your probably wondering, "what did that last sentence mean? it sounds weird." Well, basically, I have the ability to write posts, but Lavender is still the sole in charge of the whole site. I just want to let you know this, so you don't get confused by the fact that some posts would seem different than others. Anyways, I hope that I can live up to expectations of not only Lavender, but also you my beloved fellow bloggers.

Now that I stated the bulk of my statement/introduction, but to let you continue enjoying your favorite (or at least one of your favorite) blog(s). HAPPY BLOGGING!
