Character Conversion: Power Rangers Dino Charge / Kyoryuger

While the Dino Charge Rangers gain the trust and prove themselves to the Energems, the Kyoryuger did so by fighting against the Zyudenryu (Zords) and proving they are 'brave.'

 Tyler/Daigo
Daigo was close to his father like Tyler, even though Daigo traveled much more with dad as explorers. Tyler just did it for fun. Daigo took random part-time jobs while Tyler worked at the Dino Café. Tyler was prone to baby tantrums. Both are on the cheery side. Tyler and Shelby ended up together. Daigo ended up with Amy and had (great 4x) grandchildren that became KyoryuNavy and KyoryuCyan.

 Chase/Ian
Ian and Chase are both Casanovas. Ian was an archaeologist formerly but Ian was at incident. Chase is from New Zealand, from a different country from the other main five Rangers. Ian was Japanese like the main five of Kyoryuger. In the end, it is assumed Chase returned to his girlfriend Kaylee. Ian went on to sire grandchildren that eventually became KyoryuSilver.

 Koda/Nobuharo
These two were the most different from each other. Koda is a caveman new to our world and speaks awkwardly. Nobuharo is from modern times and a mechanic. Both are well-meaning and sweet. He has a penchant for doing oyaji gags, outdated and unfunny puns which his late brother-in-law enjoyed, and which Canderrilla earnestly finds amusing, but usually makes everyone else who hears them groan. His sister becomes KyoryuCyan. Koda ended up going back to his time. Nobuharo's great grandson became KyoryuBlue.

 Riley/Souji
Riley is a smart farmboy that likes puzzle and cares about logic. Riley also is competitive with his brother Matt. Souji is a teenager high-school student and kenjustu Musoken. Riley and Souji are both cool-headed. Both use swords. Souji's great grandson became KyoryuGrey.

Amy/Shelby
Both are the only girl in the main five. Both are waitresses. Both are college students from rich families. Both had feelings for Red and did not want to admit it in reality. Shelby was more into dinosaurs and had to fight it with her dad. Shelby ended up with Tyler. Daigo ended up with Amy and had (great 4x) grandchildren that became KyoryuNavy and KyoryuCyan.

Sir Ivan/Utsusemimaru
Utsuseminmaru is a samurai from the Sengoku period in Japan. Ivan was a knight of the fictional Zandar. Zandar is actually from Utsusemimaru's attacks, having to relate with 'thunder.' Both were stuck inside of Fury/Dogold. Both are knights, but Ivan is played more for laughs. Ivan went back to his time to the Knights of Zandar and had a great grandson who was an artist. Utusemimaru's great grandson became KyoryuViolet.

 Prince Phillip/Tessai/Shinya
Tessai did not appear until after Gold joins the team, he is a focused martial artist from 6th century China who regards himself as an embodiment of the yingyang concept while causing him to be remarkably hard-headed. Shinya, his decedent took his place as KyoryuGrey. Prince Phillip technically appeared before Ivan/Gold but became the Graphite Ranger after the Gold Ranger morphed. Phillip is a pompous prince from the fictional Zandar at first but now a trusted rich ally. Phillip proved himself to the Graphite Energem by saving Chase's sister. Grey was changed to Graphite. The actor for Tessai and Shinya was BoukenSilver.

Albert/Doctor Ulshade
Doctor Ulshade is a genius scientist of the modern age who predates the main five Kyoryugers. He has a bad habit of getting carried away which causes occasional back trouble due to his age. Having defeated Plezuon to forge a pact and become Kyoryu Violet, Ulshade invented and mass-produced the Kyoryugers' Zyuden Arms. His granddaughter took his place as Violet. Albert on the other hand had no relation to Kendall and he was an adventurer and tour guide for urban myths in New Zealand. He gave his Energem back to Keeper. Albert had a eye patch while the doctor had two lens glasses. Violet was changed to Purple.

Kendall/Yayoi
Yayoi is Doctor Ulshade's granddaughter and assistant and takes over his place as KyoryuViolet. She had a crush on Diago. Kendall has no crush on Tyler. Kendall was introduced early on and proved herself to the purple energem just before the first season finale in Sledge's ship. Kendall didn't get much characterization but probably more than Gia did. We did get to meet Kendall's grandmother. They both wear glasses. Kendall became the manager of a Dino Zoo instead of Dino Musuem.

James Navarro/Ramirez/Yuko
Ramirez/Kyoryu Cyan was revealed before Gold in Kyoryuger, he was trapped inside the 'Ankylozord.' Ramirez was European and a ghost. He was optimistic. His body type would change when he morphed. Yuko later took  Ramirez place as a female KyoryuCyan. James on the other hand is Tyler's father who looks younger because of the Aqua Energem and was revealed early in the second season Dino Supercharge. He left to go help find the silver energem and would occasionally return. Cyan was changed to Aqua. The actress for Yuko was DekaYellow. James continued having adventures with his son Tyler.

Zenowing/Torin
Zenowing is the Silver Ranger in Dino Supercharge, an alien. Dantestsu was Daigo's missing father who became KyoryuSilver after killing Torin. Dantestsu was the second KyoryuSilver, Zenowing was the only Silver Ranger. Torin was the bird-like monster-like mentor since the beginning of Kyoryuger. He was serious. he was a member of the Deboth Army who was created to attack Earth as a first wave. However, Torin came to love the planet's beauty and resolved to protect Earth's life forms. Zenowing appears near the end of the second season as an alien who bonded with the Silver Energem. Also in Power Rangers, Zenowing created the zords. Zenowing went on to go with Heckyl to save his planet Sentai 6.

James Navarro/Dantestsu
When Daigo was an infant, Dantetsu was bathe in the Light of the Earth and gained the ability to hear the planet's melody. Found by Torin, who refers to him as mankind's King, Dantetsu proves instrumental in the development of the modern Kyoryugers' arsenal. He is a powerful fighter. James Navarro bonded with the Aqua Energem when Tyler was young and had to go into hiding. They are both fathers of the Red Rangers. James was Aqua but Dantestsu was Silver.

Villain Conversion: Power Rangers Dino Charge / Kyoryuger

Slegde and Heckyl were American creations. Some fans believe Heckyl is inspired by Enter from Go-Busters but the actor Ryan Carter and producer Chip Lynn have confirmed that to be untrue.

Chaos/Lord Arcanon
Unlike Lord Arcanon, Chaos was in Kyoryuger since episode 1 like Sledge was. Lord Arcanon did not come until mid-way into Dino Supercharge. Chaos was the 'voice' for Deboss and was later possessed by Deboss. Lord Arcanon was Sledge's boss that later came in with replicas of the Dino Chargers and piloted the Megazords. Both were destroyed by the Rangers.

 Dogold/Fury
Dogold was a suit of sentient, magical Oni-themed armor that was created by Deboss during their attack on Japan during the Sengoku Era. His primary mission was to posses Utsusemimaru and take control of the powerful Zyudenryu, Pteragordon. Fury is an alien sent by Sledge to get Keeper and the Energems but ends up losing them. So Fury stays on Earth for millions of years, gets Sir Ivan trapped inside of him and scares off James Navarro with the Aqua Energem. Fury then serves Snide and later Arcanon. He has a small rivarly with Singe. Dogold's fur coat had more of a significance than Fury's which appeared and disappeared. Fury was exploded in the past by Keeper's bomb.

Aigaron/Wrench
Aigaron is a Sorrowful Debo Knight General who cries all the time but has fierce tactics and fights with a battle axe. He is saved a couple times after exploding. In Power Rangers, Wrench is a robot inventor that creates devices and monsters, he creates Curio and helps getting Ivan out of Fury. Aigaron took down Ian's friend Shiro (played by the actor who was Go-On Black). Wrench was destroyed in Sledge's ship in the sun.

Canderilla/Poisandra
Canderilla is a singing happy-go-lucky knight seems to abhor senseless violence. She also had a human form. Poisandra is Sledge's fiance who somehow stayed by her man for a million years in not getting married but then throws a hissy fit after one day. Sledge is destroyed and she continues serving Snide and Arcanon. She seemed to have musicial powers but only long ago and never used again. Canderilla later became friends with the Kyoryuger. Poisandra was hoisted into the sun with Sledge's ship in the past.

 Luckyuro/Curio
Curio was created by Wrench from monster parts to be Poisandra's friend. He is kind of dumb. Luckyuro was female and she made the fewest monsters compared to her fellow knights but is responsible for causing them to grow in size after their defeat using Restoration Water. She acts as a spy for the Deboth Army. Luckyuro's growing ability was replaced by the mangabeam of the Sledge ship. Luckyuro later became friends with Kyoryuger. Curio was sucked into the blackhole with Sledge's ship and since the whole gang was destroyed in the past, he was never created.

Endolf/Singe
Singe mysteriously came to Earth and helped Snide but ended up working for Arcanon who upsurped Snide and Heckyl. Fury didn't trust Singe. Singe is powerful and has a sense of humor. Endolf  was created by Chaos in episode 25 to counteract the Kyoryugers' Brave. Chaos then explained that Endolf is to deepen the emotions that the Army collects in order for Deboth to gain power that will resist the Kyoryuger's Brave, with Endolf deciding to work with Aigaron first, collecting Ian's resentment against Aiagron for slaying Shiro, lamenting that he can't collect the vengeful emotions Aigaron is emitting. Both characters had headaches.

Mad Torin / Doomwing
Mad Torin is an evil doppelgänger of Torin (Zenowing) created by Chaos. His form is considered the true form of Torin when he was still a part of the Deboth Army. Mad Torin falls in battle to Torin when the Wise God transforms into Kyoryu Silver. Doomwing on the other hand had no connection to Zenowing other than being cursed by Lord Arcanon to share a body and letting Doomwing morph into the Silver Ranger. But the Rangers split Doomwing and Zenowing apart. Both Mad Torin and Doomwing met the same fate.

Neo-Geildon/Snide
Neo-Geildon is an evil "embodiment clone" created by Space War God Burodosu in the film Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Dinosaur Great Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends. Not the original Darkness Messenger Geildon, he is an evil embodiment of the regret of the Evolian in their failure to defeat the Abarangers. The original Geildon costume was used for Zeltrax on Power Rangers Dino Thunder. The Neo-Geildon suit was used for Snide but was unconnected to Zeltrax. Snide shared a body with Heckyl, an American creation. Snide was destroyed in new American footage, I don't think there was any Sentai footage used for him.

Power Rangers Dino Supercharge - End of Extinction - Episode Review

In Sledge's ship, Sledge says the eggs do more than hatch greenzillas, they are forming anchors on the ground to take Earth out off orbit apparently. The humans fight the Viviks in front of the museum. Fury demands the energems from Keeper and destroys the base. The main five Rangers rush in and blast him. The other Rangers come in and Fury retreats. Sledge sends a message telling him the ship will yank the Earth out of orbit to go to a planet called Kamen 5. (Kamen Rider, get it?) Ivan thinks it is impossible to get it out of orbit (it is). Sledge starts hauling it. Kendall explains it. In an hour, the Earth will freeze. Keeper says the Dark Energem should be destroyed. Riley asks if it came from darkness, if can a bright source can destroy it. Chase has an idea.

The Rangers morph. Chase, Koda, Ivan, Keeper, Shelby and Riley go in the Pterazord. The Rangers communicate to the world through screens telling them a plan to stop Sledge. Shelby's dad and Riley's brother listen. Kendall puts the Dark Energem on a satellite like device. Guards give people mirrors. Plesiozord is activated with Heckyl, Kendall, Zenowing, Tyler, James and Phillip inside. They take the satellite towards the sun. Chase tells the people of Earth (including Ivan's grandchild and Chas;s girlfriend) to prepare their mirrors. They then all face the mirrors up and the light is bright enough that it touches the Dark Energem. The Rangers blast at it and destroy it. The explosion creates a blackhole which swallows Sledge's ship.

The Earth soon gets sucked up into the blackhole. It happens in a matter of seconds. Tyler gets on his knees. Heckyl can't believe it. Keeper says they can use the ultimate power of the Energems. They must throw their Energems into space. The Rangers de-morph and throw their energems into space. Keeper appears with them and joins them, making a circle and transports them through time. Heckyl says the legends are true. The Rangers go through the time portal with the zords. They appear on Earth back when Keeper first came with the Energems. Shelby finds the dinosaurs.

Keeper crash lands and Sledge has his bags of space rocks. Keeper unlocks the Energems when Shelby, Ivan, Koda, Chase and Riley arrive and explain who they are. He asks for proof, they call out for the Energems and they came to them. Sledge and Fury come. The five Rangers morph and call Dino Steel. Viviks are called and they fight them. Fury and Ivan fight, Fury is mad that he knows his moves. Fury gets the Energems, Sledge comes but it explodes. Tyler arrives with the real Energems. Fury dies. Ivan is glad his captor has met his end. Shelby asks Tyler where the others are. Tyler goes T-Rex Super Charge and fights Sledge. Sledge calls the Magna Beam, even though Tyler called it. He tries stepping on them. The other Rangers and Heckyl enter the ship and fight the Viviks. Heckyl hits a button and wraps Sledge with a green electro rope. James traps Poisandra.

The others lock it on course and runs off. They escape on the Plesiozord while the ship hits the sun. Keeper (not sure which one if present or past) tells the Rangers they can return to their own time. Koda and Ivan want to go back home. The other Rangers are sadden but understand. A portal is created. Koda tells them they won't forwt them. Shelby says they are family forever. They all group hug except for the aliens. Koda and Ivan step through the portal. Tyler says it is their turn. Phillip and the others step through leaving Zenowing and Keeper. Tyler and Shelby hold ahnds. Keeper wants Zenowing and Heckyl to save Sentai 6 and protect the Dark Energem. Heckyl even gets a Keeper outfit. The two go through the portal. Keeper says order is resotred and steps through. The 8 Rangers arrive on Earth on their time. Kendall says to be called Kendall. Chase wants to take Kaylee to New Zealand. James wants to have adventures with Tyler. Tyler invites Shelby, she kisses him. Kendall says there is an emergency at the musuem.. which is now a dinosaur zoo. Sledge's asteriods never hit Earth.

Review:
This episode is controversial with fans because it defies the canon and continuation of various Power Ranger seasons. Bascially dinosaurs weren't extinct and it cancels out Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Dino Thunder. But not really. For MMPR, the Dino Zords were just based on dinosaurs so they could still have them. And Dino Thunder, the Dino Gems were indeed from the past but they could've still been from the past. But it does cancel out Mesogog's plot to go back to 'the age of the dinosaurs.' Anyways, I think it was an appropriate ending for Dino Charge to back to the past. It was also a touching episode, especially at the end where they were parting ways. It would've been nice to see Koda and Ivan in their times but I guess they used up the budget with the original CGI of Pterazord and Plesiozord.

As for the season in total, Dino Supercharge was uneven as it could have gone to more sprawling epic but it has going stand-alone episode. Stand-alone episodes would have been great if they grew the characters but the only ones that did that was Chase with Kaylee episodes. Tyler meeting his dad James could have been more of a big deal but it was done away with quickly, probably becuase of footage or probably because the New Zeland actor had an American actor dubbing over his voice. But all this stand-alone change was probably Executive meddling. But since the beginning, Dino Charge showed it wasn't going to be as easy to follow as Megaforce. Megaforce had a simple plot, if it even had a plot. Dino Charge had as much potential as Megaforce, it started out strong.

I think Chip Lynn did a great job but the show is not without its faults. Kendall is the weakest character with no background or drive. It would have been nice to have a backstory. Lord Arcanon and Zenowing could had been introduced earlier to be more of a threat. Fans loved Heckyl and were hoping he would be Talon Ranger because of the Dark Energem. There was also plot problems and also scientific impossibilities (like the Earth getting off the orbit?). But this is Power Rangers, scientific impossibilites can be excused. While Megaforce let us down with so much potential, Dino Charge was different as it looked like it was beyond their control. Dino Charge also showed us a Neo Saban season didn't have to rely too much on Sentai footage (until the money ran out mid-way through this season it is obvious).
