Power Rangers 2011: Cast but no Details yet

UPDATED 9/22/10 10:30 AM EST
I didn't want to post anything until we got more information. Information has slowly been forming, since August fans at Rangerboard has gotten info on the casting calls and then the names of the actors who have been cast. But we still have not learned the title yet. I am not posting the character descriptions because they might change. Pictures below made by Soulspice at Rangerboard. IMDB has the title as Power Ranger Samurai, avid commenter James Spiring says he put that title on IMDB as a placeholder. BUT IT IS INDEED WILL BE POWER RANGERS SAMURAI

Alex Heartman as JAYDEN, Najee-De-Tiege as KEVIN, Hector David Jr. as MIKE

Erika Fong as MIA, Brittany Pirtle as EMILY, Steven Skyler as ANTONIO

Felix Ryan as SPIKE (formerly 'Skinny Mack') and Rene Naufahu as JII;
Rene Naufaju is no stranger to Power Rangers as he played Emperor Grumm in SPD, Takeru is the name of the Red Ranger in the footage source Shinkenger and fans are led to believe the name is in honor of him.

Above is a picture from Power Rangers.com saying the new season is coming soon and has the Fire Kanji in the background. Former Power Rangers producer Tony Oliver said at Power Morphicon that he is writing some of the comedy for the show. I personally believe we might find out the title by the end of September/early October. We found out the RPM logo in mid-September and the news of MMPR new toy line on October 1st. Many fans are hoping the show will be called Power Rangers Samurai Strike.

Another picture of the cast, posted on Rangerboard.

Hey, if you go on imdb.com it says that the series name is "Power Rangers Samurai".

Do you know where are they filming?

It's such a pretty cast, whatever they ultimately decide to call it.

I do wish Reese would have been Japanese-American.

IMDB is nothing but a glorified Wikipedia.

I'm the one who added the title to IMDB. I used Power Rangers Samurai as a working title since you can't submit a new entry without a name. Just seemed a logical default since the Sentai had Samurai in the name. I submitted the cast at the same time, but only Felix Ryan as Skinny Mack got added - I'll have to re-submit the rest. If the existence of that IMDB entry has confused anyone, I can only apologise, but I wanted to get it up there ASAP.

wow, 7 comments in 3 hours, last time that happened was when I posted that Power Rangers was being canceled by Disney.

Takeru... going to be the 'mentor type', huh? So it goes from Red Ranger into the Jii?

Those images were first made by Soulspice on Rangerboard.
The other guy used them to illustrate the original post with his permission. :D

They could atleast have casted someone more japanese-looking as Non-Takeru.

Two comments and it's already about ethnicity/color.

Now what if Guy 1 said "Oh, it would figure that Red would be black.", instead of "Oh, it would figure that Red would be white."?

Let's try this again: "Oh look, it's Karate Kid all over again". Or "So even in a Samurai themed season, there's still not gonna be an Asian Red Ranger?" or even maybe "There is a white man where an Asian should be. It's like the Last Airbender but probably won't suck."

Context, man. Context.

Stereotypes, man. Guess all Asians are Samurai in your eyes. Some people take offense to that.

I just want to say that instead of putting a character named "Takeru" as a mentor of the power rangers it would be funny to put "Mr. Brown" (this is just in case of saban trying to get some kind of tribute to the shinkenger). But I repeat is just my opinion.

Mark, think about it. In S.P.D., the red ranger was black. And in all the Super Sentai's, the red ranger is asian. Because it is a japanese show, and they've been running it since '75. So cool it.
