Vehicles in Super Sentai (as of 2010)

 

Just like the Animals in Sentai, I decided to do Vehicles in Sentai, it is exhausting to do because it isn't as easy as animals. For me, it is easier to remember the animals and harder to remember the vehicles, also some of them were a mix of some other vehicles and don't look as identifiable. This is the reason I have not done this before. I am not including the Liveman, Jetman, Hurricanger (Ninja Storm), Go-Onger (RPM), nor Goseiger because I already included them under Animal and they are majorly modeled after animals.

I might have miss some, please kindly point them out, not rudely, like some do. If one vehicle appeared just once, then they are not mentioned here. So if you say... "You forgot Boukenger's Mixer." I'll say... "There's just one Mixer so far." If you read this and it is no longer 2010 and there is a new vehicle, keep in mind this was written in 2010.

Classifying Zords: Ultrazords

What is an Ultrazord? An Ultrazord could be understood as being a combination of all the zords in the team's arsenal. Some that look like this does not have the title.

Case #1: Ultrazord
The first Ultrazord we got, was made up of seven zords. While there has been Megazords made out of 9 zords and not called Ultrazords.

Case #2: Thunder Ultrazord
With 7 Zords, the Tigerzord was kept inside Tor and five main ones above.

Case #3: Ninja Ultrazord
Manipulated photo above. This did not exist in Kakuranger, the source of the footage. But for Bandai Ameirca to advertise the return of Titanus, the Ninja Ultrazord was made for Season 3.

Case #4: Shogun Ultrazord
Manipulated photo above. This did not exist in Kakuranger, the source of the footage. But for Bandai Ameirca to advertise the return of Titanus, the Shogun Ultrazord was made for Season 3. As mentioned before, they used the actual toy---which had the Pink Shogunzord, which was made for some reason, causing an unexplained anomaly. This only had 6 zords as Falconzord was stolen by the villains at the time.

Case #5: Zeo Ultrazord
They would ride outside or inside, didn't include the Super Zeo Zords; had 7 zords like the past Ultrazords.


Case #6: Mighty Mammoth
No official name was given to this combination, either the Hurricane Megazord or the Thunderstorm Megazord climbs on top of the Mighty Mammoth and shoots out the Power Spheres, I would consider this an Ultrazord since it carries most of their arsenal.

Case #7: Drivemax Ultrazord
The Drivemax Ultrazord had 10 zords, so an Ultrazord is probably meaning all the zords they have at once. RPM Ultrazord had 12 zords. This is the first Ultrazord to be standing and the first to not be all the zords in their arsenal, because they gained 8 more vehicles after this.

Case #8: Jungle Pride Charge
While no consistent or proper title, it sitll was not referred to as an Ultrazord, it would either have the main spirits, the master spirits or with the Rin Beasts (Lion and Chameleon). It would either have 7 or 5 zords at a time.

Case #9: RPM Ultrazord
RPM Ultrazord is accumulation of 12 zords, all the zords in their arsenal.

Talking Mecha

UPDATED 11/30/10 8AM EST
In Power Rangers, the Zords don't talk, but in Super Sentai, some do. Some don't like it, I say to them: get over it.

Daizyujin (Zyuranger)
Daizyujin as a whole was a god and spoke.


DaiMugen
In Dairanger, DaiMugen became human and forgot he was DaiMugen and lived for centuries. In his tortoise robot form, he spoke.

Bakuryuu
In Abaranger, the dinosaurs spoke through the Abaranger's changers. The Dino Plate would move up and down, emulating speech. They were always big, unlike the Engines of Go-Onger, but spoke to the team through the changers like a walkie-talkie.

Engines
In Go-Onger, the mecha, the Engines would speak. When big, they would speak. When not inside their Engine Casts, their Engine Souls were placed inside their partner's henshin device and speak through a hologram. The Ancient Engines just grunted, didn't speak. Each Engine had a onomatopoeia (the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named) catchprase.

Zuuban
While in PROO, Sentinel Knight was a warrior, Zuuban in Boukenger was more of a sentient weapon friend. He could be used as a sword or as a robot that grew. Zuuban only said his name and was a simple creature.


Go Roader GT
In Go-Onger, the Engines would enter it and operate it, so they would speak through it.


Daigoyou
In Shinkenger, it spoke and grew big. It mostly stayed in its lantern form.


Datas
In Goseiger, Datas is a regular robot that would grow big and gain armor as Datas Hyper. He speaks like a child.

'Alive' Mecha and Zords

UPDATED 10/28/14
The following are mecha/zords that were alive or sentient beings. They are all mostly animals or beasts.

Shoguzyus (Zyuranger)
Collectively Daizyujin was a god, like in the sense of a Greek God. When I first heard they were gods back in the late 90's, I thought of it blasphemous, but when I think of terms of back in ancient times. Anyway, the beasts didn't talk but they were 'alive.' In PR, the Dinozords were said to be mechanical and would be 'activated' by Zordon for the Rangers to pilot it.

Mythical Chi Beasts (Dairanger)
They were mythical beasts, they were sentinel, meaning they weren't born, they just are. Daijinryu was said to come from the stars, they functioned on their own. In PR, I don't think it was the same thing. The Thunderzords and Serpentera had to be activated and work.

Chounin Beasts (Kakuranger)
In Kakuranger, they came from a scroll and were alive. Also Tsubasamaru was alive, the three God generals were sentient beings.

Ginga Beasts (Gingaman)/GalactaBeasts (Lost Galaxy)
In Gingaman, they were alive beasts from the Ginga Forest that became armored thanks to the Gingaman. In PRLG, the Galactabeasts come from some planet that was not specified and was hinted to be Mirinoi. Maya could communicate with them.

Power Animals
Said to come from Animarium and from all intents and purposes, were alive. Cole and Takeru could communicate with them.

Bakuryuu (Abaranger)
In Abaranger, the dinosaurs spoke through the Abaranger's changers. They were mechnical-bio hybrids from another dimension, they were alive in every sense of the word.

Valkyrion (Magiranger)/Castrastos (Mystic Force)
Alive by magic I guess, oh also Unikirion/Brightstar.


Geki Beasts (Gekiranger) / Animal Spirits (Jungle Fury)
They were spirits made by the heroes but I think they were alive, I mean they were not mechanical robots.

Engines (Go-Onger)
In Go-Onger, the mecha, the Engines would speak. They are from another dimension, they speak and think, have independent thought. They are alive.

Origamis (Shinkenger)
They seem to have a mind of their mind, probably because of the Mojikara.

 Zyudenryu (Kyoyruger)
There are 11 of them and they are alive.

Zord Week: "No Fair, Red has a bigger zord!"

The trend that the zords of the Red Rangers were much bigger and more awesome than the others.

Tyrannosaurus (Zyuranger/MMPR)
The first said zord to be a bit bigger than the other zords, it got more fan fare than the others in the beginning.


Ryuuseioh/Red Dragon Thunderzord (Dairanger/MMPR)
First Ranger's zord to go from animal to robo. It was pretty much the spine of Dairenoh/Thunder Megazord.

God Saurder (Kakuranger)/Ape Zord (MMPR)
The red one was slightly bigger than the others.


Red Puncher/Red BattleZord (Ohranger/Zeo)
Other than the 2 zords each Zeo Ranger got a zord, the Red Ranger got his own big old zord.

V-Rex/Q-Rex (Timeranger/Time Force)
Technically not the main Red Ranger, but Time Fire/Quantum Ranger is considered a Red Ranger and his zord was freaking big and became a Megazord.


Gao Lion and Gao Falcon / Lion Zord and Falcon Zord (Wild Force/Gaoranger)
The Lion Zord wasn't always big but thanks to some special food, it got real big for GaoKenTaurus/Pegasus Megazord. And the Falcon was pretty big.


Tyranno (Abaranger/Dino Thunder)
Tyranno was a bit bigger than the other Dinos. It made up the torso, legs, head and one arm!


MaxOhja/Mezadon Megazord (Abaranger/Dino Thunder)
AbareMax/Triassic Ranger was just a power up of the Red Ranger, but he had a big old red zord of his own.


FireKaizer/Centaurus Phoenix Zord and SaintKaizer/Phoenix Unizord (Magiranger/Mystic Force)
Not technically one zord, but the Red Ranger did technically get to have his own robo without the others. He would become the Phoenix and merge with a horse (Valkyrion/Catastros or Unikirion/Bright Star).

Mougyudaioh (Shinkenger/Samurai)
Shinken Red/Red Samurai Ranger's third zord, a big one.
