Pre-Images of Super Sentai

2000 Timeranger
This is the first preview we got to Timeranger, I doctored this pic a bit back when, I couldn't find the original picture. But I doctored out the kanji out long ago. The first news came in December. Spoilers and stuff weren't that rampant back when.

2001 Gaoranger
The first pic was shadowed of the five facing forward. Couldn't find it. There were rumblings but no real spoilers, I don't recall exactly when confirmation came. But it had to be between November-December.

2002 Hurricanger
I think we had one blurry pic of Hurricane Red first. And then later we got this scan. Spoilers and rumblings came around November.

2003 Abaranger
The first pic (above, provided by Gold Samurai of Rangerboard) was a sketch of the three and many people thought it was fake. This was like the second and the third was one of the cast and fourth was on toei.co.jp about the stageshow meet and greet event with the four actors. This around the time Matt (Dukemon22) started supplying rumors and spoilers from Japanese forums.

2004 Dekaranger
Couldn't find the first pic, I think it was a group shot for the toys. I don't recall but I do know it was originally called Sienger. People were okay with the costumes, some weren't nuts about the numbers though. This pic above is provided from Gold Samurai of Rangerboard. Spoilers and rumors started as early as October.

2005 Magiranger
I remember there was a sketch at first but I couldn't find it but this was the first official confirmation. I remember fans didn't believe it. I think there also was a blurry pic of MagiRed kicking out there. The third was the live-action Magiranger with the Majin and MagiKing behind. Spoilers and Rumors came around the fall and early rumblings was a normal animal was going to be a mythical creature.

2006 Boukenger
I really don't remember the first pic we saw. Maybe this was it? I don't recall. People were cool with the costume designs. Rumors began in August, saying it was an insect theme.

2007 Gekiranger
I remember this was the first pic of all three together, and fans were angry with the no belt, nobody liked it at first. Ha, no belt, no service. Rumors began as early as March but confirmations by October. Early rumors was that it was going to be planet-inspired and the second team was a male (in black) and female (in pink). Partially came true but the male and female duo turned out to be the villains and pink was green (Mele).
We did get this sketch before, also provided by Gold Samurai.

2008 Go-Onger
This was the first picture we got and nobody liked the helmets, many said it looked like a rehash of other helmets. Confirmations on the title came in October.

-Go-Onger cast revealed in promo video on December 29th 2008
-Go-Onger press conference on January 19th 2008 

2009 Shinkenger
I remember fans being happy more or less with the illustrations. There were mumbles that they looked like Ohranger helmets but everyone was happy. Rumors and Spoilers began in August. Two rumored titles were Toushi Sentai Gunbaranger (Fighting Spirt Taskforce Gunbaranger) or Gowa Sentai Starranger.

-Series name license revealed on October 2nd 2008
-Leaked concept art of ShinkenOh and Shinkenger team on November 19th
- 1st quarter toy catalog for Shinkenger on December 8th
-Cast confirmed and newspaper flier released on December 27th
-Press conference photos posted on February 2nd 2009
 An early sketch in 2008 said to be an early sketch for the 2009 Super Sentai, could be preliminary design for Shinkenger.

2010 Goseiger
Title confirmed in September and the picture above was revealed in early of December of 2009.
-Press flyer revealed on December 3rd 2010
-Toy catalog cover on December 6th
-1st quarter toy catalog on December 9th
-Rumored cast becomes the official cast on December 30th
-Cast confirmed on January 1st

These were the rumored sketches in September of 2009, it was debunked around November.

2011 Gokaiger
The title was confirmed in early of September of 2010. We did get this early sketch in September as well, but it resembled the other sketches from 2009 that were not the final designs.

-Series name license revealed on September 9th 2010
-Press flyer revealed on December 2nd 2010
-1st toy catalog pictures released on December 6th
-The rumored cast turned out to be correct on December 22nd 2010
We got this quick sketch from an insider.

We first saw this picture December 1st late night (December 2nd afternoon in Japan). The first drawing we got in September is somewhat similar with minor details that the undershirt is black and the cuffs are silver and boot cuff is different but same basic idea.

 2012 Go-Busters 

The one above is the "leaked" image for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters on November 6th. But the final product we saw was in December 1st right below. This is the first image we saw of the final designs.

-Rumor of cast on November 28th

2013 Kyouryuger

On November 6, 2012 we got the first leaked image. We already knew it was dinosaur related in September.

Power Rangers RPM - Episode 24 - "Ancient History"

Episode Summary

Tenaya and the two robot generals go through the rubble of Alphabet Soup, looking for something useful. Crunch picks up a Red Ranger helmet (that is basically the Operation Overdrive one). She plugs into a drive and gets info on a mountain with info and discarded stuff. She returns with news to Venjix but the new general Kilobyte is already on it, thanks to Shifter. She is really peeved at Shifter, saying he made a big gamble. Meanwhile with our heroes, Flynn and Ziggy play billiards. The alarm rings and they have detected 'excavation' in the mountains. The twins say there is discarded technology. Dr. K says its junk but she is concerned, she tells the gang to destroy it all.


Corporal Hicks and his team has already going through some stuff. The Rangers find the opening to a cave. The digging bot has dug through. The Rangers find him and confront him. Rocks clear and a dragon-like train is engraved into the rock. Venjix makes the robot big. The Zenith Megazord fights it and use the Road Attack Zord. The train is activated and comes to help them. It attacks them too. It is a mammoth, a triceratops and a tyrannosaurus. It attacks the baddie again, the baddie retreats and the three zords retreat as well, leaving the Rangers shocked. (Basically this is the entire Go-Onger episode 32 mushed into 3 minutes)


After the commercials, Hicks gives Truman the hard drive laptop and it is Dr. K talking to Venjix, saying he is too dangerous to let out. Truman is very mad. The Rangers return to Dr. K asking what the locomotive thing is. The twins say it is called the Paleozord. Dr. K says it is uncontrollable. The guards come in and tells them to freeze. Mason tells Dr. K is arrested for treason. Scott says not to arrest her. Hicks tries to grab her but she is a hologram, saying she anticipated Truman coming to arrest her. Scott says arresting her is 'not going to bring anyone back.' Dr. K seems to be on a loop, like a recording, but no, she is doing this live and when the guards leave, she reveals she is in a remote location.


The Rangers go out to look for the Paleozord, or how Dillon calls it, a giant dinozord. They encounter the digging robot and the Grinders and of course a fight ensues. They then morph. Red then fights the bot. They look up and the Paleozord has returned. The bot attacks it and is run over. Red jumps on it and hangs on to it. He flies off it and unto rubble. Meanwhile Dr. K walks in her white robe and sees herself in a 'wanted' video clip. A man identifies her and conveniently located guards chase her. Dr. K still orders the others. She seems to split up and the guards chase the multiple Dr. Ks, she says she is everywhere.


After the commercials, Mach Megazord and ValveMax Megazord fight for some unknown reason as Yellow and Blue watch. Mason watches as the guards chase after her. Hicks tells him that there are dozens of her. Mason looks at the cameras and then at the Corinth tower. Blue and Yellow see the robot and it has grown again and attacks the two zords. Mason arrives to his office to find Dr. K and threatens her with his gun. Ziggy tells them he needs her help. Dr. K asks Mason if 'she is there.' The zords split up and the Rangers go down. Blue and Yellow call their zords but go down. Red says he is on the way. Dr. K asks her if he is going to arrest her. He looks at the picture of his son. She says they all make mistakes they regret, she says they have to move on, she says if they can go back in time, she would undo it. He asks if she can help them, she says it is all she can do.


Dr. K helps them with the Paleozord. Red jumps up at the robot and is knocked down. Mason asks if she was born in a laboratory and she says basically she was thanks to 'his' public government. Paleozord arrives and hits the foe and then splits into three. Red jumps in and pilots the Mammoth one. He transforms it into Paleomax Megazord and destroys the bot. The Rangers celebrate from below. Meanwhile, Tenaya says Shifter to watch his back. The Rangers worry Scott's dad has taken Dr. K, Mason arrives with Dr. K and says he has granted her a full pardon. Dr. K says she has to debrief her team. Mason leaves. Ziggy and Dr. K are alone and Ziggy pokes her, to check if she is real. She scares him with another hologram.



Episode Review
Great episode! Really smart, complex, funny and just overall well executed. Awesome character development as well! Now does everyone have confidence in Judd's abilities to take over the reigns of Eddie? The stalling of Dr. K reminds of Mac's stalling in Operation Overdrive. It seems this episode has two references to Operation Overdrive. It seems the three zords are referred to as 'Paleozord.' The reason the two megazords fought in Go-Onger was to call out the robot.

Next week there will not only one new episode but two new episodes. I will be very busy that weekend because of family stuff, so most likely I will upload the first episode on Saturday morning and the second one Sunday night at the least. We'll see.

Power Rangers RPM
Sat Sep 19 - Ancient History (24)
Untested technology is found in an Alphabet Soup dumping ground. Truman tries to keep the technology from Venjix but instead stumbles upon a video log that pins Dr. K responsible for the start of Venjix. Truman wants to arrest Dr. K. But if he does, she won’t be able to help the rangers with the dangerous Paleomax technology.

Sat Sep 26 - Key to the past (25)
It dawns on Dillon that the two keys to his watch fit together to play another song. It’s the same song that Tenaya 7 sings! Tenaya 7 is hit by memories of her past. She does some investigating on her own and finds out what really happened to her.

Sat Sep 26 - Beyond a Doubt (26)
Airs the same day as episode 25
Tenaya 7 and Dillon go to Venjix palace to retrieve codes to stop an attack bot. Dillon is left wondering which side she is on when she turns him into Venjix. With the stolen codes, Dr. K is able to configure the RPM Ultrazord. Kilobyte captures Tenaya 7 before she can reunite with our heroes.

Sat Oct 3rd - Control - Alt- Delete (27)
Dillon’s search for Tenaya is put on hold when Scott is in trouble. Scott was shot with a key that allows Shifter to control him. The rangers do their best to save their leader when they come face to face with Tenaya. She has been reprogrammed with one mission: Serve Venjix.

Sat Oct 3rd - Run Ziggy Run (28)
Airs the same day as episode 27
It’s time for Ziggy to payback the money he owes Fresno Bob. Tenaya makes a deal with Fresno Bob to give him Ziggy in exchange for a certain case. The rangers deploy Dr. K’s Rail Saber weapon against the latest attack bot.

And then there is no new episodes until December, supposedly Episodes 29 and 30 will air December 19 and 31 and 32 on December 26 but I doubt it.

Kit confronts Onyx and loses. After Len and Siren defeat several of Xaviax's monsters together, Kit asks whether they even need him anymore. Kit gets another unwanted visitor at his apartment... Michelle Walsh.

Sat Sep 26 "Dropping the Axe" (25)
Kit confronts Axe again until Strike arrives. Kit finds Len and Siren and tells them he is ready to be a true Kamen Rider. Xaviax tells Strike that he has a Kamen Rider ready for emergencies: Kamen Rider Wrath.

Sat Oct 3 "Kamen Rider Wrath" (26)
Secret agents begin to watch Kit's home. Once Kase apologizes to Kit for her previous actions, he goes to hospital where his father is. In the bookstore, Maya is initially furious with Lacey, but uses her assistance to draw the attention of another secret agent spying on them.

Sat Oct 10 "The Attack" (27)
The secret agents force Kit to fight against Mirror Monsters to see his armor and skills. Len and Kase fight Wrath and Strike. Maya talks to Len about what happened, and he goes searching for Kit. Trent calls his friends to hack the government's database to find where Kit is being kept.

Sat Oct 17 "The Arrested Dragon" Saturday (28)
Trent has Kit's location and Maya goes there. Kit is interrogated by Michelle Walsh. Len and Kase also go to the building to look for Kit. Kit is ambushed by Strike and Wrath.

Toylines that continue after the show ended

Back in 9/13/08, last year, we got pictures and news of Power Rangers RPM and I reported it on the 16th, but now it is the 18th of September the next year and we haven't heard anything. It used to be, since 1999, we usually heard news on the title of the show by May and toy pictures by Fall season. But now, we haven't heard squat. Many fans still believe the show will continue, but there has been evidence that production stopped in New Zealand and there has been no news on the show continuing any time soon. If the show does get picked up by a new production company, it for sure won't be on airwaves by March of 2010, most likely much later. Anyhoo, I had slight hopes Bandai America would release a toyline based on Samurai Sentai Shinkenger anyway, since they claimed the show wasn't canceled back in April and also promised us a Pink Ranger Super Legends figure for Fall of 2010 back in late May.

I decided to cover toylines that continued after their popular television shows had ended in the past...

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
The series ran from 1983-1985 and a couple of toys were released from 1986-1987. Mosquitor above was released in 1987.


Transformers
These toys (Mircomasters) were released in 1989 and the first animated series lasted from 1984 to 1987. What happened was that the Japanese series continued and they kept making toys so they kept releasing toys. The Generation 2 toys came out in 1991, remember the green and purple Megatron tank and Pyro (Optimus Prime fire truck)? I don't think there was a year with some Transformer toy, maybe a couple of months or so. Maybe 1994.


Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This toy came out in 1997, the first animated series went from 1987 to 1996.

Tensou Sentai Goseiger

Dukemon says Toei has copyright to this name Goseiger. 10/07/09 11pm EST update: Copyright for title is official. "The copyright is legit, but the actual copyright page has not listed it yet (meaning it might only be a temp name.) Until this happens, we have to wait. Though, the name Goseiger and the animals being reminiscent of Dairanger's is interesting. However, the name is not Tenjou Sentai. I believe it is to be read as: Tensou, meaning Transfer, is a common term card-game wise, i think."

"Some of the cards themselves will not be of the same thickness as the Ganbaride Cards. They'll be a lot thicker, and will be able to play sounds by themselves, along the lines of the Enjin Souls and Gaia Memories. Some of the cards will either be the henshin devices, or activate them."

• The core team will be of three (Red, Blue, Yellow) and two (like Go-onger). The secondary team is composed of Green and Pink. I believe Yellow will be male, take this with a grain of salt, nothing is written in stone right now. We still have four months to go and the most changes occur in december.
• Green and Pink's mecha are not known, but Red maybe a Dragon, Blue could be a Unicorn and Yellow maybe a bird of some kind.
• The first robot will be Red's Dragon, which can transform into a robot on its own, much like in Dairanger. Red's monster seems to be called "SutsuDragon" (Suit Dragon).
• Blue's Unicorn and Yellow's bird will be able to transform into a Pegasus, sold as a set of course. The three of course will unite.
• The mecha are able to hold the corresponding cards of the rangers. The three-robot will have cards displayed on its chest and shoulders
• Red is the leader of a group of rangers, rebelling against the invasion forces of the home planet, (the other, villain rangers), which seek to conquer the Earth. He has been given "Earthling Blood" mysteriously.
• Blue and Red had originally fought for the title of leader, and Red won. There will be definite rivalry between them.
• Yellow has control over a "Pod/Base" which the rebels were able to escape to Earth in.
• Green is also a dissenter (rebel) from the villains, but his reasons for doing so are less than positive.
• Pink is Red's sister, and also dissents from the villains. "Since they're brother and sister, and Pink is supposed to be older. Also, please take everything with a grain of salt. We're still not close enough to the end of year for this info to be trusted completely." -Dukemon22
• The rangers, besides Red, cannot exist in Earth's atmosphere for a long period of time, without transforming. They need to return to the "Pod" regularly. (Reminds Dukemon22 of Alien Rangers hehe.)
• Pink, in the style of Vancuria and Trey, can split into twins. Dukemon22 (Matt) believes the other twin is allied to the villains.
• Green's monster will be a Cobra-like monster. His personal weapon is a CobraRod.

Photoshop above, not sure if Green and Pink will be different in style. Nobody is 100% if Yellow will remain male or female.

UPDATED 9/28/09
It is said Pink doesn't have a regular twin, that she has a split-personality, much like Vancuria with Nai and Mea. She will split into two people with different personalities. It is still not clear if the second person is still going to be part of the villains.
