Power Rangers Dino Fury - Old Foes - Episode Review

 

Episode Summary:

Someone in a cape clunks within the evil base and tries to take soemthing. Void Knight calls them a thief. Lord Zedd reveals himself from the cape. He lifts Void Knight in the air. The others cower. He calls a monster his master. Mucus wonders why Reaghoul is nice. Reaghoul reincarted Lord Zedd and put a complanance collar. Reaghoul revives old monsters. Void Knight will give him one Sporix if he captures the Rangers. Lord Zedd cackles. At the news place, they are celebrating Halloween. Ollie makes fun of Amelia's vampire costume. Javi is going as his dad in a dance. Zayto says they dont have Halloween in his planet. Amelia says clowns are scary (I agree). Izzy is afraid of Zombies. Zayto wants to go as a box. Ollie claims not being afraid of anything. Izzy thinks they can scare him.

Amelia will make a haunted trail for Ollie to scre him. Back at Dinohenge, the other four finish the Haunted Trail. Ollie is not scared. Zayto says he gives them five minutes. A monster arrives and the Rangers morph. Zedd arrives and puts sleepy cuffs on them. They fall and sleep. Reaghoul tells them to search for Ollie. Ollie walks through the decorations. A skeleton drops down and doesn't scare him. Two monsters find him. Ollie contacts his friends with no answer. He morphs. He avoids their attacks. He remembers one of the monster's howling attacks. He remembers when they created a treat for him to make him stop howling. Ollie asks Solon for a No Howl Drop. She arrives and drops it in the monster, taking out his hiowl. Solon hides behind the tree. Ollie fights the two monsters and destroys them. They return to life, thanks to Reaghoul. Ollie talks about physics and takes out the Spin Key.

Ollie finds the Rangers and Solon. He recognizes Lord Zedd. Solon says he is too strong. Ollie calls him out. Ollie makes fun of him following Reaghoul. Solon and Ollie teleport away. Lord Zedd wants to destroy the others, Reaghoul stops him The two monsters return. At the base, Solon has an idea about Zedd-watching the legendary database Mick gave them. They watch video of Lord Zedd. Solon shows them how he turned the Rangers back to children, his zord Serpentera, and stealing Green Ranger's energy to create the Dark Rangers. Ollie says he is tough and terryfying and asks how they defeated him. Solon says it was scaraficing Zordon to get rid of Zedd. They watch Andros destroy the tube and Rita and Zedd becoming human and good. Ollie says there is no way to recreate what Zordon did. Solon and Ollie mention the Compliance Collar. Ollie finds it in the database. They watch a video of Beast Morphers with the Compliance Collars.

Mucus teleports where the Rangers and Monsters are. Ollie arrives. Lord Zedd says to bow before his Master. Ollie makes the Dino Dagger and destroys the Compliance Collar. Lord Zedd is happy to be free and goes after Reaghoul. Reaghoul and Mucus teleport away. Zedd fights the two monsters and Ollie frees the Rangers. Zayto says to help alongside the Beasts. The Rangers join the fight and fights Zedd. The Rangers slice and dice Zedd. Zedd says they are lucky he doesn't have his staff. He teleports away. The two monsters grow. The Rangers call the Megazord and destroy both. Afterwards, Reaghoul is put away in a cell with sleepy cuffs. Back at the base, Solon sees the Rangers in their Halloween costumes---Ollie (Astronaut), Amelia (Vampire), Izzy (Lepruchan), Javi (Zombie Park Ranger), and Zayto (Earth Knight). Ollie admits he was scared Lord Zedd, his biggest fear is losing his friends. They teleport away.

Review:
Other than not using the original voice actors (their excuse is Lord Zedd's original voice actor Robert Axelrod passed away recently and the original videos don't have individual tracks to replace music), having Lord Zedd in this episode or Dino Charge timeline seems out of left field. Other than the Morphin Masters and dinosaurs, Dino Charge doesn't have much connection to MMPR. The Villains are not even similar--Void Knight has a lady love in a coma and he is more active than Zedd. Mucus, the comic relief villain gets out more than Babboo and Squatt ever did during Zedd's tenure without Rita. I did like how the episode kept the clips to a minimum and was more of the old seasons than Dino Fury itself. I also liked the not so subtle rainbow reference with Izzy. 

Power Rangers Dino Fury - The Matchmaker - Episode Review

 Episode Summary:

Izzy trains the Rangers and others on a hill. Javi thought Izzy and Fern were rivals, but they are getting along. Javi noticed Izzy is wearing perfume, new hair-do, and her behavior and thinks he has a crush on Adrian. Amelia mentions Izzy has been in a good mood lately. Javi tells Adrian that Izzy has a crush on him and wants to set them on a date. Adrian says he never thought of Izzy like this. A young man overhears this and disappears, transforming into Slyther. Slyther asks for Fogshell from Void Knight. Later, Adrian and Fern are the only ones left. Zayto sends them to get the hotline when Fogshell makes fog around them. Slyther kidnaps Adrian. The Rangers morph and fog confuses them--has them hit each other. Zayto dons Blazing Fury armor and takes down the Hengemen. Mucus and Fogshell run away. Amelia, Ollie, and Zayto teleport away. Javi offers to take Izzy to lunch, but Izzy and Fern are to do lunch. Javi attaches himself to the lunch and he calls Adrian. Slyther transforms into Adrian and answers Javi--who makes him 'surprise drop' by at the lunch. Fake Adrian wants to kidnap Izzy.

At the taco lunch place, Izzy, Fern, and Javi are together when Adrian appears. Javi invites him to sit down. He has Fern go with him. He convinces Fern to leave, saying Izzy likes Adrian, which disappoints her. She thought Javi was interested in her, so she clarifies she is not into boys. Fern leaves. Javi makes up bad excuses for Fern leaving and also him leaving. Once Javi leaves, !Fake Adrian confesses his love for Izzy and recites a poem on a long scroll. Izzy is uncomfortable. People around them start laughing and Izzy is embarrassed. Izzy and Adrian leave. Adrian transforms into Slyther and tries kidnapping her. She kicks him and teleports away. Back at the base, Izzy tells the other Rangers. Javi admits Slyther probably overheard him trying to set up Adrian and Izzy together. Izzy is visibly upset. Zayto wonders about Adrian. Javi calls Adrian and finds Slyther. Slyther wants to trade for all the Sporix alone. Izzy says Javi had no right to meddle. Solon says to make a plan. Ollie thinks of making fake Sporix Chest with the double key.

Izzy is mad but doesn't want Javi to go alone. They make a plan to go in disguises. Mucus, Adrian, the monster, and Slyther arrive. Javi teleports in with the Sporix chest. Mucus leaves with the chest. Slyther says he will give Javi Adrian back if he gives him his DIno Key. The Rangers fight Fogshell in their disguises. The old lady turns out to be Zayto. Izzy frees Adrian and Adrian runs off. The four morph. Zayto calls his zord to fight Fogshell. The others call their zords. Fogshell brings more spell, Slyther puts a spell on it and teleports away. The Zords hit themselves. The Dimetro Blazing Zord arrives. Zayto makes them combine into T-Rex Blazing Megazord. All five Rangers enter and destroy the fog. They call the Mega Fury Saber and destroy Fogshell. Izzy gets the Sporix from Slyther. Slyther teleports back to the base and makes a big show for Void Knight. He is at first happy to get the Sporix Chest. But then they find out it is a fake. Void Knight scares Mucus and Slyther. Slyther turns into slime and Slyther slips into it. Void Knight takes off his mask and apologizes to his comatose love, saying he won't stop. Outside at the park, Javi apologizes to Izzy. He then apologizes to Adrian, saying that he swore she had a crush on someone. Adrian makes him look at Izzy and Fern. Izzy and Fern hold hands and go off to lunch. Amelia is visibly happy for the couple and cheers them on. Javi finally gets it and wishes her a good time. 

Episode Review:
I never thought this day would come. As a gay man, I never thought we would get an openly gay Ranger on Power Rangers. In a previous post, I went over "shipping" and "queer coding." Even though the word 'gay' is not utter, it is pretty obvious as the whole episode is about Izzy being 'in love' or 'having a crush.' Javi, of course, only trying to help and trying to pair Izzy off with someone. Unfortunately for him, he just sticks with his heteronormative norms (pun intended). But it is innocent. Javi is excused for his thinking, as the show assumes the viewers (or children) only know about heterosexual relationships. Once the Rangers discover Izzy is interested in Fern, they are almost blaise about. Zayto just says "Oh." Probably on Zayto's planet, same-sex relationships are the norm. Apparently, wherever the villains come from, they do not know about same-sex relationships as they didn't figure Izzy was into Fern either. Even though Javi probably knew about gay people and he supposedly knows his step-sister well, it never occurred to him she would be into Fern. Anyway, innocence is excusable. it was a good episode, I am not saying it was bad. This stuff happens in real life. I hear that the crew pushed this to happen and there was some pushback (maybe the network, not sure). I am happy it got made in the end. 

Character Convert: Go-Busters/Power Rangers Beast Morphers

 Beast Morphers ended almost a year ago, I can't believe I forgot to do the 'character convert'-- in which I often compare Sentai characters and Power Rangers characters. The last one I did was in 2018 and I guess I will be doing the Dino Fury one next year. Also I have to mention that Go-Busters came out in 2012 in Japan while Power Rangers Beast Morphers aired from 2019 to 2020 for two seasons. It was the first Power Rangers to be based on a Sentai that was 8 years old. 

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BOTH SHOWS

Devon Daniels / Hiromu Sakurada
Both of them have a Cheetah-themed robotic buddy that becomes a motorcycle, both had super speed, and both freeze when they see either a chicken (Go-Busters) and a dog (for Beast Morphers). Hiromu froze more often. Devon did it rarely and the reason was strange because Cheetahs are not scared of dogs. Devon was into video games and had no job, his dad wanted to be more serious. Devon ended up being the leader of the Rangers and later a commander of Grid Battleforce. Hiromu was blunt and clashed with Yoko (Yellow) and his sister didn't want him to be a Go-Buster. The major difference was that Hiromu didn't have a father being a mayor. 

Ravi Shaw / Ryuji Iwasaki

Ravi and Ryuji both have super strength, a big gorilla robot, and overheat--having to be 'cooled off.' Ravi has this more often than others because of the footage plots. Ravi is the son of Commander Shaw and secretly liked art, which he had to hide from his mom. Also, he had a secret relationship with Roxy which eventually he could have and the rule of Rangers not being in a relationship was taken down--after Zoey and Nate. Cool-headed and reasonable, Ryuji lets his teammates bicker among themselves. He sees himself as an older brother instead of a father, and gets annoyed when people around him call him a father. The major difference was that Ryuji didn't have a relationship with Escape. 

Zoey Reeves/ Yoko Usami 

Both could jump real high, had a short rabbit robot, and had to eat something--Zoey eats carrots and Yoko ate candy. Yoko is srambunctious and tends to say things without thinking. She is also not afraid to say things as she sees it and had a strong dislike for Hiromu. Zoey on the othe rhand, gets along with her teammates, and especially well with Nate, as they end up in a relationship. Zoey is ambitious and believes in causes. Her mother is a news reporter who doesn't know her identity until probably the end of the last season. Because Yoko eats candy when she weakens, fans call her diabetic. Zoey eats carrots because supposedly rabbits love carrots but in real life they don't eat a lot of carrots, its not good for their diet. They eat a variety of vegetables.

Comamnder Shaw / Takeshi Kuroki

13 years ago, he was one of Yousuke Sakurada's subordinates. He then was left in charge the three children that escaped the transport to Hyper Space. Then he commanded the Go-Busters and his prime directive is to shut Messiah down permanently. Takeshi protects the Enetron reserves to prevent Messiah from amassing power, and makes tactical decisions that place the safety of the Go-Busters and Buddy Roids only second to finding weak points and discovering ways of beating Messiah and Enter. They both do not take kindly to being questioned, nor do they take kindly to being second-guessed or confronted about their methods. Shaw wasn't even given a first name, she loves to joh when not at Grid Battleforce. She is Ravi's mother and is a bit more flexible than Kuroki. She later becomes General Shaw.

Betty Burke / Miho Nakamura
Miho is the rookie recruited as part of the three-man support group of the Go-Busters. When Usada was kidnapped, Miho dressed up as Yoko as part of a plot to fool Enter. Betty is more impulsive and outgoing than both Miho and her brother Ben, often dragging her brother into situations he'd rather avoid. She means well, but her almost not-existant common sense causes numerous accidents. Ben and Betty are related to the General Burke. Miho and Toru mostly stayed seated in the command center, while Ben and Betty were more active. They were considered part of the team.

Ben Burke / Toru Morishita

 When assisting the Go-Busters, Toru maintains a calm composure. Toru has command of a degree of stealth as he was seen to have gone past an attacking MegaZord in order to plant a tracker in the Enetron it was siphoning. Ben is the more reclusive of the two, his older sister often forcing him to do things he'd rather avoid. Toru and MIho are not related, Ben and Betty are. 

Beastbots / Buddyroids

Cruise / Cheeda Nick

Jax / Usada Lettuce

Smash / Gorisaki Banana

They were definitely sentinant robots based on animals that became cockpit steering wheels and/or armor for the Rangers. The difference is they were Go-Busters' friends since they were little, while Nate made the Beast Bots in the Power Rangers and the Rangers met them after becoming Rangers. The Buddyroids were more in the story and plots in Go-Busters while the Beast Bots were not so much. Ene-tan, the frog Buddyroid was not adapted into Power Rangers.

Nate Silva/Masato Jin

Both genusises, Nate was younger of course. Masato Jin was a well-known engineer known for having a quirky, light attitude and a penchant for preferring quirks in machines rather than aiming for perfection. As an engineer, he also worked with the Energy Management Center and was one of the people who went into Hyper Space 13 years prior. Nate was a child genius who experimented with old morphers and (Spoiler alert) created Evox from the RPM Morphers. Nate created the Morpher technology like Masato did. Masato has an odd and somewhat playful, less serious personality.  Even before joining the Go-Busters Masato was noted for his utter disregard for rules and authority, stealing a large amount of Enetron in order to keep himself in the real world. Despite being the chronologically oldest of the Go-Busters at 40, Masato insists that he is 27 (his body was in statis). Nate was more serious and rule abding. Also, Nate created his brother Steele, Masato made J but wasn't his brother. Nate had a relatonship with Zoey, unlike Masato. After Enter was finally destroyed for good, Masato's avatar went off-line. Before he was lost, he gave some parting words to the Go-Busters and J, encouraging them to escape.

Steel Silva/Beet J Stag

Both were creatred by the Gold Rangers and both are Silver Rangers. Both are a bit of egotists. J appears to have no concerns except his own, but Steel is bit more humble--compared to J. J has quirks, which Masato likes and he has a 'cool' personality. Steel has boasts he is 'half human' but it is not seen physically and supposedly has Nate's DNA--which would make him a cyborg and Nate's son, not brother but whatever. Other difference is Steel becomes human at the end and he is young and doesn't have the deep voice. He even went as far as threatening to destroy Jin's avatar, for the sake of getting the data, counter-intuitive as it may be. When Jin's data backup deactivated, J showed remorse and sadness over the loss of his creator.

Blaze / Enter

There are major similaries and major differences. If you are only aware of Beast Morphers, Blaze became a Ranger from the first episode of Beast Morphers and in season 2, Blaze was a Blade Runner-like robot that had a monster form. Enter on the other hand, was humanoid for the majority of the series, his 'ranger form'--Dark Buster only appeared in one episode and his monster form for a couple episodes at the end of Go-Busters. Enter is a member, and later the leader of, Vaglass. Both ENter and Blaze were avatars. As an Avatar, he has the ability to transcend Hyper Space and uses this ability to speak to Messiah in person via his laptop. He has a propensity for thin disguises, though his goggles can be a giveaway. After Messiah's death, Enter embarked on a mission to evolve beyond his programming into the ideal being. Blaze went to the Cyber Dimension to visit Evox and bring him to the real world. Fans believed Chip Lynn was inspired by Enter's goggles and gave Heckyl of Dino Charge googles but he denies this. Blaze, doesn't have the iconic goggles but the monster form does have similar marks. At the end of season 1, Blaze was awoken and was human again--hence Evox created the robots. Blaze later became a stunt actor.

Roxy / Escape 
While Roxy appeared since hte first episode of Beast Morphers, Escape didn't appeared into half way through Go-Busters. Her monster form was only purple and not considered a Ranger in Sentai. For Beast Morphers, Hasbro turned repainted the purple costume to dark yellow (Olive) and got rid of the name "Escape" from it. Roxy was a human that was in a romantic relationship with Ravi, while Escape didn't have that connection. Escape had a worthy opponent in Ryuji Iwasaki while he is under the influence of his weak point. Escape is overbearing and arrogant towards most people, though she loves Messiah like a father in more ways than one. Like Enter, Escape had her own perception of emotionless morality yet loves to fight. In fact, unless ordered by Messiah or finding someone who can thrill her with a fight she could barely win in, Escape rarely fights. Roxy does fight. Roxy was releeased from her statis and left Grid Battleforce and Evox made a robotic Roxy. Roxy and Ravi ended up together at the end. Escape was destroyed.

Evox / Messiah 

Both were viruses that assimilated inorganic matter and spread far and shared monster forms. Their oirgins were different. Messiah was originally a computer virus that mysteriously infected the Transport Center's computers and underwent an evolution from the Enetron in the system. However, the scientists sacrificed themselves to teleport the entire Transport Center into Hyper Space to trap Messiah. Messiah used this to absorb the scientists, save Masato Jin who evaded capture, to use their collective intellect in serving him as both his "Engineers" and as source material to create Enter and Escape. Similarly, Evox ended up in the Cyber Dimension and Scrozzle helped send the Megazord-like Gigadrones and Robotrons to Coral Bay. Messiah later got a body form called Messiah Cell near the end of the series. Evox got the body form until the end of season 1 and also took over the body of the Mayor. Evox was also a cobra-inspired form as a virus. Now here are the spoilers. If you already watched Beast Morphers, you already know that Nate created Evox with cobra DNA and the original code of Venjix from the Cell Shift Morphers (RPM). Evox was basically Venjix. Of course, there was no connection like this on Go-Busters. While Evox/Venjix was the true villain of Beast Morphers but Messiah wasn't the true villain, it was Enter. 

Chaku/Geki Jumonji

Chaku was an alien cyborg cop that had to be upgraded to have his suit. He didn't want to show himself to Starlight, his daughter. The Rangers then were able to fix him so he could go back to his daughter. Geki Jumonji joined SARD and took a mission to Mars. His space shuttle mysteriously disappeared. Geki had spent the last year training at the Galactic Union and now worked as a provisional Space Sheriff in the Gavan-Type G combat suit.  Geki convinced his Commander Qom to give him another chance and returned to Earth. Geki is deployed to Earth to pursue Rhino Doubler, a Doubler Monster of the Space Crime Organization Makuu. After encountering the Go-Busters, Geki asks for their help in tracking down Rhino Doubler.

Scrozzle was not in Go-Busters and is an original creation and no counterpart. Vargoyle is not so different from Danganloid except for his connection to Scrozzle. 

Power Rangers Dino Fury - Super Hotshot - Episode Review

 Episode Summary:
The Rangers are working out. Izzy's dad arrives and asks how a brochure for a gym showed up in many places. Chase says it si Coach Bella's gym. Izzy says the first session is free and does puppy dog eyes to get money. She then makes a cat noise. Dad agrees. Zayto says he will join him. Meanwhile, Slyther redirects the Ranger hotline calls to him. Izzy and Zayto start at the gym. They bump into Fern, she says her ankle is fine. Adrian introduces himself. Coach Bella introduces herself. The quartet workout to the coach's advice. Zayto breaks a punching bag. Coach tells Izzy she is a super hotshot She blows a whistle and says that is it for the free trial. All of them want to join, COach says they must have a uniform. Adrian says he doesn't have enough for the uniform, the coach asks for his watch and pressures him for the watch. Izzy and Zayto don't like what they see. Later, they have the black uniforms on. They run to where everyone is running away. They find Slyther, who found a Sporix. 

Izzy's uniform gets singed. The five morph. They use dino keys and don armored arms. They do their attacks. Zayto switches keys to Hyper Dino Key. He does the Hyper Strike. Slyther falls and teleports away with the Sporix. Ollie says it is strange they didn't hear from the hotline. Later, Izzy and Adrian talk. Adrian says the watch was from his grandfather. Izzy looks at the bright sign. Coach says to use weights.Izzy says they should stretch first. Coach has Izzy lead. Coach sees Izzy's burn on her uniform. Zayto sees the coach tell everyone they are the best athlete in the gym. Coach tells Izzy to get a new uniform. Izzy isn't sure because of the money. Later, Izzy and Amelia talk at the news place. J-Borg shows off the Cyber Coach (a traditional robot). Jane shows off the robot who starts to malfunction. Zayto wonders if the coach really is great, he tells Izzy that she told all three the same thing. Izzy still thinks she is great. All of them agree to help pay Izzy for the new uniform. She thanks them.

Izzy visits the coach for a new uniform. Coach wants Izzy to join as a trainer, she talks about money. She puts the watch on and calls Adrian a chump for the watch. Izzy asks if she is truthful. Coach says she is but the others are not. Izzy wants to buy the watch back. She realizes she is all about the money and tells her she wants nothing to do with her. Javi arrives with a smoothie. Izzy tells him what happened. Their dad tells him about the Sporix and he called the Rangers. This is news to Solon. Javi and Izzy teleport to the park. They find a new monster. Slyther attacks. Javi calls Zyato. The siblings morph. Slyther fights the two. Th monster and Mucus teleport away. Solon says there is no fault in the system. Amelia calls the hotline and hear Mucus who says she is the Red Ranger. Amelia tells her the SPorix is in the plaza. They find the Rangers. Zayto tells Solon to fix the hack. Mucus leaves. The trio fight the monster. Slyther attacks and then leaves. Solon tells them about the hack and the siblings teleport to the,. They convert to the Dino Dagger and throw them at Slyther. Slyther knocks the daggers down. 

The monster causes a fog. AMelia attacks Ollie by mistake. The fog is gone and the monster too. The trio teleport to Slyther and fight him. The five convert their sabers into daggers and fight him. They destroy the hacking device. Mucuus and Slyther teleport away. Solon has a new firewall and coding in the base. Izzy meets up with Adrian and gives him his watch back. Coach arrives with her crew. Izzy calls her out on her scheme to make money. Fern asks the coach if she is a liar. Fern and Adrian quit. Izzy says she is training them for free. COach says no one will get money back. Izzy starts the training. 

Episode Review:

I didn't like this episode too much. It reminded me too much of Ninja Steel, it had not much heart and felt forced. Also, the gym didn't look so impressive. I hate it when characters say something is cool when it really isn't. I guess the producers couldn't find or afford a location that was not impressive. Also, was this the first episode without a Megazord battle? And I guess we will see the monster in the next episode...

Silver Space Ranger, Pink and White Ninja Rangers for Lightning Collection

I'm a bit late, but Walgreens will be getting a Silver Space Ranger Lightning Collection figure. I've been waiting for a long for Zhane and am glad he is getting an exclusive. As for Trent, White Ranger, my Walgreens didn't get the exclusive until almost a year later. Fans are already debating about Zhane's face (profile). This was not officially announced by Hasbro.

Pink and White Ninja Rangers were revealed weeks ago but I was busy with work. They are Target exclusives. I am glad about these and want to get a couple against my Tenga. 

 

Spoiler Alert: LGBT+ Characters in Power Rangers

 I was eleven when Power Rangers first aired in 1993, and I came out as bisexual when I was 14. I am now 39 and openly gay. I never figured we would have an openly gay character, let alone a Ranger on Power Rangers, because of the moral guardians and whatnot. Most of the time, the Power Rangers show is meant to be geared towards children ages 3-11. Sometimes, that changes. In Space to Time Force were suppose to be for children 7 to 11, while Wild Force seemed to be for Children 3-6. Anyway, I digress. The following is a SPOILER (for Dino Fury), so skip this if you do not want to know. 

In the episode "Matchmaker," which aired in France but might air on Nickelodeon on October 9th. Javi thinks Izzy has a crush on a boy but finds it out it is actually on a fellow athlete Fern (who previously appeared in episode "Winning Attitude"). Some fans previously guessed Izzy was supposed to be gay. Some of those fans even saw her removing the skirt as evidence of her being gay. I didn't think so because it could have all just been a coincidence and also I didn't think Power Rangers would dare to do this. So I am happy to say I was wrong, I didn't expect it to be so. Having watched the episode, Izzy doesn't say "I am gay" but she holds hands with Fern and they walk away to go to a restaurant. Amelia and the others cheer them on so it is pretty obvious. The guy Javi thought Izzy likes signals him to see the two women. What would have not been counted would have been them just holding hands and leaving without the cheering and the moment between the guy and Javi.

Now, let's talk about queer coding. Queer coding is the subtextual coding of a character in media as queer. Though such a character's sexual identity may not be explicitly confirmed within their respective work, a character might be coded as queer through the use of traits and stereotypes recognizable to the audience. Now, many mistakes queer baiting and shipping with Queer coding. Queer coding more falls under the writer's and producer's intent. Many hopeful fans mistake just regular relationships for an actual romantic connection and intent between characters with their own hopes. For example, they might want Stiles and Derek together in Teen Wolf and mistake moments for actual coding and swear the two characters are gay. It might have been unintentional. Queerbaiting is a marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but then do not actually depict, same-sex romance or other LGBT representation. 

Queer bating is not an active thing in some shows but fans still accuse shows of being so. Now, I don't see Izzy as queer baiting, I see this as a legitimate attempt of telling stories of characters who previously have been ignored. Now let's talk about the other LGBT characters in Power Rangers that also happen to be female Power Rangers. Some fans don't consider these as canon as they are not in the main continuity of the show. We can discuss canonicity some other time.

Trini (Power Rangers 2017)
In the 2017 Lionsgate movie, Trini (Becky G) is alluded to be gay, she doesn't actively say it in the movie. Zack asks her if she has girlfriend problems and she gives him a look. She talks about how her family is 'normal' and not will understand. I did like this inclusion but would have liked them to go further, that she would at least have a girlfriend on screen. I am not asking for a kiss or hand-holding, but at least a scene. 

Ellarien and Remi (Power Rangers comic)

In the arc "Beyond the Grid" of the Power Rangers comic, the Rangers (assorted team) meet Ellarien the Solar Ranger and her friend Remi. At first, it is seen they were close friends but it was specifically said until the end of the arc that they were in a romantic relationship. 

The following are not canon relationships and as of 2021, Producers have not said if the characters were meant to be gay or not. Only the actors have expressed their intent. 

Victor and Monty (Ninja Steel)

Victor Vincent is the Big Man on Campus (or at least wants to be) in Power Rangers Ninja Steel. Monty (Caleb Bendit) is a hanger-on, he is devoted to Victor. They are both bumbling characters and are meant to be comic relief. Not once, Victor expresses any romantic interest in Monty nor are they in any romantic scenes. Caleb Bendit has stated that he played Monty as being in love with Victor and 'gay.' As of 2021, producers have not said if they meant the character of Monty to be gay. Even if Monty was gay, Victor was not probably meant to be and hence, they were not in a gay relationship. Caleb did say producers and some fans did not like the take he took. I don't see a problem with seeing Monty as canon gay, because it was just innocent worship. 

Riley and Chase (Dino Charge)

Riley Griffin (Michael Taber) was the Green Ranger in Dino Charge and Chase was the Black Ranger. They were friends. They sometimes had conflicts. Chase had an interest in women and had a girlfriend on the show. Riley didn't have any female romantic interests. Michael Taber years later admitted he played Riley as gay. I don't know how I feel about these straight actors claiming they played characters as gay. Now some fans ship these two characters and consider them canon gay. That I know of, the producers didn't intend them to be gay. I don't think they were actively trying to Queer Code or Queer Bait. We can debate until the cows come home but the only confirmation we have is Michael with his intent. But also keep in mind, he did not like his experience and has retired from acting. I am not saying to disregard his statement but to take it with a grain of salt.
