Super Megafore Pink Tutu: Step Forward or Step Backward?

So this has appeared online...
Pink Ranger Prestige Tutu

I've mentioned wanting more girls merchandise for Power Rangers before. In 1993, Saban did some girls stuff like the Power Rangers Girls dolls, girls clothing, jewelry, walk talkies, slippers, plush dolls, and other accessories. When my nephew saw this he said, "Why is she a princess?" It dons on me, Saban Brands is trying to imitate Disney Princess. I thought it looked more like a pirate princess with the collar and short sleeves.

So I'm throwing this out for you all, is this a positive thing or a negative?

Positive: A girl merchandise
Negative: It's a dress, non-Power Rangers thing
Negative: It's a dress, old school for girls
Negative: It's pink, there's no Yellow.

I'd say maybe a one step forward and two steps back? Like, it's good that there is a girl Power Rangers Product, and it doesn't seem to be the Halloween costume, but it's still disappointing how...frilly it is. And how this seems to be the only product aimed at girls. It's well intentioned (or just a cheap cash grab) but poorly executed.

Remember that GokaiPink aka Ahim de Famille was a princess. It's all good to me.

I like to think of it as more of a huge goose step sideways.

Feels like a huge leap backwards to me.

It's hard. I mean, there's a part of me that thinks this is super cute dress because the pirate coat lends itself pretty well to a ball-gown style like that. On the other hand... It's bad enough that the girls on a team of superheros who's primary form of combat is marital arts have to have those confining looking skirts on their suits in the first place. Not all girls want to look like princesses and wear pink, if girls want PR stuff they want it in the same vein as boys in that it looks like the girls from the shows. It reminds me of that little girl who wrote Marvel about the lack of Black Widow merch.

I guess at the end of the day it's a step backwards. Despite how cute the dress is, it screams "What they think girls want" not what girls actually want.

If this were a Gokaiger product, it'd still be stupid, but at LEAST I could understand where they were coming from, if nothing else. Here, it's just girly for the sake of girly. Thumbs down.
